With limited time between arrival and departure, choose one route: Hakata and Tenjin, Ohori and the Science Museum, or Momochi and the tower. These plans assume 1 night near Hakata Station and a late-afternoon departure on day 2.

Momochi Beach and Fukuoka Tower

Choose this if coastal views matter most and your day 2 flight leaves late. Of the three options, this is most affected by the weather and flight time because you need to allow for bus waits and the return journey.

Day 1 · airport → Hakata hotel → dinner in Tenjin or Hakata

  1. Airport international terminal → Hakata Station and hotel

After arriving at the international terminal, take the free shuttle to the domestic terminal, then the Airport Line to Hakata. Leave your luggage at your Hakata hotel and decide how much evening time remains.

After the observation deck, take a short walk on Momochi Beach north of the tower. Return by bus via Tenjin to your Hakata hotel and collect your luggage. The tower is closed on 28–29 June 2027; on those dates, skip the deck and walk on the beach only if the weather permits.

  4. Hakata Station → International terminal

Take the Airport Line from Hakata, then the shuttle from domestic-terminal stop 1 to international departures.

Included: Tower observation deck: 1,000 yen

Costs not included: Subway, bus, JR and Nishitetsu fares; accommodation, meals, flights and shopping; and optional paid visits such as the planetarium, special exhibitions and museums. Remove the admission charge for any attraction you skip.

Tower admission and return travel: adult observation-deck admission is 1,000 yen; bus and subway fares are separate. The city tourism guide's approximate 15-minute Tenjin–Momochi bus time excludes waiting and the walk from the stop. Stay in the city if heavy rain or your departure time makes Momochi impractical.

Departure-day sightseeing and airport travel

How much sightseeing can I fit in before my flight?

Start with your airline's required arrival time at the international terminal and check-in deadline. For a morning flight, skip sightseeing. Even with a late-afternoon departure, leave time for the return trip from the attraction and luggage collection at your hotel.

Take an Airport Line train from Hakata towards Fukuoka Airport and get off at the terminus. The station connects to the domestic terminal. Follow signs for the international-terminal connecting bus through the indicated gates and entrances 1A or 2A to floor 1. Take the free international-terminal shuttle from domestic stop 1. Allow separately for waiting, the shuttle ride and the walk to airline counters on international-terminal floor 3. With a wheelchair or pushchair, check the gates marked for the domestic terminal and the south-side lift route.

The 2-day Science Museum and Momochi routes return to your Hakata hotel after sightseeing on day 2. Confirm post-checkout luggage storage and collection with the hotel, and shorten sightseeing if departure procedures leave little time. Aquarium visits are placed on middle days of itineraries with at least 2 nights; keep them on a separate day rather than moving them to departure day.

Can I add a park or beach walk on my last day?

To add a park or beach, shorten other sightseeing in your chosen itinerary and check your return flight first. Do not add a walk before a morning departure.

For Ohori Park, take a Meinohama-bound Airport Line train from Hakata or Tenjin, get off at Ohori-koen and follow the park map. For Momochi, walk from Nishijin using the tower's official access map and return the same way. Check the station-to-beach walk and any local restrictions separately.

If you cannot leave enough time to collect luggage, take the Airport Line and international-terminal shuttle, and complete airline procedures, move the walk to the previous day. A beach-only walk does not add another tower observation-deck charge.
