Two days in Okinawa: what should you see in Naha?
Choose Shurijo Castle Park for Ryukyu castle grounds, or the museum and Fukushuen for Okinawa nature, history and a garden walk. The castle route needs enough time to reach the airport after sightseeing on day two. The museum route needs time for a visit after checking in at your hotel on day one.
Choose a 2 days / 1 night itinerary
A: market meals, then Shurijo
Eat at the market and explore Kokusai Street first, then walk Shurijo Castle Park tomorrow. This short route combines food/shopping and Ryukyu history using Yui Rail and walks. Your return flight needs time after castle viewing for hotel luggage collection and airport procedures.

Day 2: hotel → Shurijo → hotel luggage collection → airport
Visit Shurijo for Ryukyu castle grounds before departure. Seiden interior viewing needs more time than a short walk. Omit the castle if hotel returns and airport access leave insufficient time before airline deadlines.
- Your Kencho-mae hotel and station → Shuri south exit and Shureimon
Walk from your hotel to Kencho-mae. Take a Tedako-Uranishi-bound service reaching Shuri and get off there. The adult fare is 320 yen and the ride takes 14 minutes. Use the south exit, descend by stairs/lift and follow official Shureimon walking directions. General guidance gives about 15 minutes; Seiden booking guidance separately gives about 20 to park information centre Suimuikan · 首里杜館.

Explore Shureimon Gate and the castle grounds, then enter the paid area. For advance tickets from 23 November onwards, show your QR code at Hoshinmon · 奉神門. If you have a Seiden reservation, join the queue for your slot. The operator recommends a slot 40–50 minutes after arrival at Shuri Station. Its suggested Seiden visit takes about 90–120 minutes from Suimuikan and back; allow more than a short walk before your flight.

- Shurijo Castle Park and Shuri Station → Hotel luggage collection and Naha Airport
Walk back to Shuri Station and take an airport-bound train to Kencho-mae. Collect luggage at your hotel, then return to the station. The airport train costs 290 yen and takes 13 minutes; afterwards, use the passage on terminal level 2. The Kencho-mae–Shuri return train journey costs 640 yen. Allow additional time for walks, train waits, the hotel stop, luggage collection and airport procedures.

Adult Shurijo paid-area admission costs 400 yen through 21 November 2026 or 1,000 from 23 November. All park areas close on 22 November, preventing this castle route. On 23 November, free castle areas open 11:15 and paid areas/Seiden at noon; plan afternoon viewing. Tickets without reservations exclude Seiden interiors; check actual date/time availability in the official booking page. Omit final-day castle visits for morning flights or insufficient procedure time.
For 1 adult, airport trains 580 yen + Shuri returns 640 + admission total 1,620 through 21 November or 2,220 from 23 November. Flights, accommodation, meals and separate storage are excluded. Allow walks separately.
Shorten outdoor viewing if strong wind/rain makes castle/garden walks difficult. For a museum replacement, check opening, last admission and Yui Rail operations first. Do not assume indoor facilities operate normally when typhoons stop transport. Omitting/replacing sights changes fees and journeys.
Included: Shurijo paid area 400/1,000 yen + airport–Kencho-mae Yui Rail returns 580 + Kencho-mae–Shuri returns 640
Separate costs: Flights, accommodation, meals, shopping and separate luggage storage
Shurijo closes all areas on 22 November. On 23 November, free areas open 11:15, paid areas noon. Seiden interior needs a reservation-inclusive ticket. Shortening/omitting for wind/rain changes costs. On departure day, first allow time for hotel luggage collection and airport procedures.

Day 1: airport → Kencho-mae hotel → museum → hotel
See nature/history exhibitions on arrival day. After immigration, trains, walks and your hotel stop, allow enough museum viewing time. If Fukushuen opens tomorrow, you can see both exhibitions/gardens.
- Naha Airport Station → Store luggage at your Kencho-mae hotel
After immigration/baggage, use the terminal floor 2 passage to the airport station. Take a Tedako-Uranishi-bound train to Kencho-mae: adult 290 yen, 13 minutes. Visit your hotel, then return to the station for the museum.

Even for rainy-day exhibitions, check museum opening and admission deadlines first. Do not plan indoor sightseeing journeys when typhoons stop transport. For strong wind/rain preventing tomorrow's garden walks, shorten viewing, collect hotel luggage and go to the airport. Omitting the garden changes route B and its costs.
Day 2: hotel → Fukushuen → hotel luggage collection → airport
After museum exhibitions yesterday, finish with Fukushuen and a city meal. For a morning flight, move the garden earlier or omit it and go to the airport.
- Your Kencho-mae hotel → Fukushuen entrance
Walk from your hotel towards Kencho-mae and Fukushuen. The station-based walk is 7 minutes. Follow the official map to 2-29-19 Kume, Naha. Adult daytime admission is 200 yen from 09:00. Hotel-to-station walks are extra.

Two days' trains total 1,080 yen; museum/day garden admission 730: total 1,810 yen. These sections differ from airport-to-museum direct travel. Meals, accommodation, flights and separate hotel storage are excluded. Omitting the last-day garden subtracts 200 for 1,610, but no longer follows route B's two-facility plan.
Included: Museum permanent exhibitions 530 yen + Fukushuen daytime 200 + airport–Kencho-mae returns 580 + Kencho-mae–Omoromachi returns 500
Separate costs: Flights, accommodation, meals, shopping, separate luggage storage and special exhibitions
Based on hotel-first luggage storage and museum returns. Check museum opening/admission and garden closures. Omitting departure-day gardens makes 1,610 yen; evening garden entry adds 100. Apply the same adjustment for wind/rain omissions.

Frequently asked questions
Can I visit Shurijo Castle on day two before a morning flight?
For a morning flight home, skip the day-two castle visit and go to the airport. A castle visit requires walking from Shuri Station, sightseeing, returning to your hotel and collecting luggage. In addition to the 13-minute train ride from Kencho-mae to the airport station, allow for walking between the hotel, stations and terminal, waiting for a train and airline check-in. The park is closed on 22 November 2026; on 23 November the paid area opens at noon. Omitting the visit changes the stated admission and transport subtotal.
Shurijo closures and opening hoursShuri south-exit walking routeYui Rail Kencho-mae fares and ride timesNaha Airport monorail access
Can I choose the museum–garden route if I arrive late on day one?
You need enough time to visit after stopping at your Kencho-mae hotel and walking from Omoromachi Station to the museum front entrance. Last admission is 17:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and 19:30 on Friday and Saturday. It closes on Mondays, except public holidays, substitute holidays and Okinawa Memorial Day, when it opens and closes on the next weekday instead. A late arrival may mean skipping the museum, which changes both the itinerary and cost. For the garden on day two, check your flight time and Wednesday or substitute closure dates.
