Five days in Okinawa: divide your time between the north and Naha
For marine life and greenhouse flowers, devote one day to the aquarium and Tropical Dream Center, then visit Naha museums, Shurijo Castle Park and gardens on other days. If you prefer caves and crafts, choose Okinawa World in the south and visit the museum and art museum together on another day. Arrange return transport separately for your southern excursion.
Choose a 5 days / 4 nights itinerary
A: 2 northern facilities in one day, leisurely Naha days
Choose aquarium and Tropical Dream Center together for marine life and greenhouse flowers/fruit trees. Keep one Naha hotel and make only one northern bus return. Visit museum, Shurijo and gardens on other days. For longer shows/beach visits, separate facility days may suit you better. Choose a botanical-garden opening date.

Day 2: hotel → aquarium → Tropical Dream Center → Naha hotel
See marine life in the morning and orchids/tropical fruit trees in afternoon greenhouses. Both facilities are in Ocean Expo Park, but bus delays or long admission queues may require omitting the garden to meet returns.
- Kencho Kitaguchi in front of Palette Kumoji → Kinen Koen Mae and aquarium entrance
Take northbound Yanbaru Express (YKB) from Kencho Kitaguchi in front of Palette Kumoji to Kinen Koen Mae at the Central Gate. One official example departs 08:40 and arrives 10:45: 2 hours 5 minutes aboard. With the 16:15 return below, park time is 5 hours 30 minutes. Confirm these services operate on your date before leaving. Official entrance guidance gives about 10 minutes on foot from the stop. Enter the Central Gate, turn right at Haisai Plaza and follow northward aquarium signs.

- Aquarium exit and park restaurant → Lunch and Tropical Dream Center entrance
Allow time for lunch and walking after the aquarium. Official guidance gives about 15 minutes on foot from the aquarium exit to Tropical Dream Center. Meals cost extra. Shorten or skip the garden if restaurant queues take too long.

- Tropical Dream Center entrance → Greenhouses and Central Gate return
Pay adult admission of 760 yen to visit the orchid and tropical fruit-tree greenhouses. The official park example allows 60 minutes for the garden. Ordinary aquarium tickets do not qualify for half-price entry. The official map lists seven minutes and 580 metres between the garden and Haisai Plaza by the Central Gate. Plan your return around the bus departure, allowing for toilets, footbridge access and waiting to board. Map walking times exclude sightseeing, rest breaks and waits at the stop.

Tropical Dream Center closes Wednesdays 1 July 2026–31 March 2027, or the immediately following weekday when Wednesday is a public holiday. Swap northern days with museum/Shurijo and check their closures/reservations too. Allow a suggested 2 hours for the aquarium, 1 for lunch and walks, 1 for the garden and about 1 for return preparation. Delays/full buses need shorter visits or another date. Times above are examples from the operator's currently supplied timetable effective 1 November 2025. The 5-hour-30-minute park stay includes entrance walks and bus waits. Shorten/omit the garden after late arrival rather than insist on both.
Day 3: hotel → museum → Naha city → hotel
After northern marine life/plants, see Okinawa's nature/history in Naha. For Monday/other closures, swap with day 4 Shurijo, checking castle opening and Seiden reservations too.
- Your Kencho-mae hotel and station → Omoromachi and museum front entrance
Take Yui Rail towards Tedako-Uranishi from Kencho-mae to Omoromachi: 250 yen, 6 minutes. Allow 10–15 minutes' walk to 3-1-1 Omoromachi. Check side/rear entrance closure notices and use the front.

Omitting the garden yesterday does not automatically add another northern return. Splitting facilities over 2 days subtracts museum/trains 1,030 yen and adds northern returns 3,800. Counting garden admission 760 once, subtotals become 12,360/12,960. For longer visits to both, compare Motobu accommodation below under northern day trips versus overnights.
Day 4: hotel → Shurijo → Naha city → hotel

Frequently asked questions
Can I visit the aquarium and Tropical Dream Center on the same day?
Both are in Ocean Expo Park, so you can combine them if you leave enough time for sightseeing, meals and walking between your outbound and return buses. The aquarium's official average visit of 1.5–2 hours excludes the outdoor dolphin, sea turtle and manatee facilities. The botanical garden is about a 15-minute walk from the aquarium exit. If delayed, skip the garden and prioritise the return bus. From 1 July 2026 to 31 March 2027, the garden closes on Wednesdays, or the following weekday if Wednesday is a public holiday.

Does a night in Motobu cost the same as the Naha return-bus route?
No. The 9,590- or 10,190-yen subtotal for five-day Route A covers attraction admission and transport across five days while staying in Naha and making a northern day trip. It is not just the northern excursion's cost. For a night in Motobu, recalculate accommodation, transport to the hotel and the next day's journey back to Naha. Ask Mahaina reception for hotel shuttle times; the hotel has no airport shuttle.

Can I use the museum and art museum 1DAY pass on any date?
No. The stated 750-yen 1DAY pass applies from 25 September to 28 November 2026 to the museum permanent exhibition and art museum collection exhibition on the same day. It does not include every special exhibition. The 5,070- or 5,670-yen subtotal for the five-day southern and city route also assumes this pass. As checked on 9 October, the two individual tickets total 930 yen, 180 yen more than the pass; that comparison applies to this exhibition period. Recheck exhibitions and fees from 29 November, and add southern return vehicle costs separately.
