Official operator information ↗Airport-posted taxi references use NAVITIME estimates: airport station JPY 1,800, Shin-Hanamaki JPY 2,200, Hanamaki JPY 2,500 and Morioka JPY 13,600. These are not quotes; traffic, route and night charges affect the fare, and tolls are extra. JR fares have not been confirmed here; check the official search for your date and train.
From arrivals to the bus, taxi or rental desk
- After arrival formalities and baggage collection, enter the 1F arrivals lobby. Choose your actual destination: Morioka, Hanamaki Station or Shin-Hanamaki Station.
- For Morioka, check departures and payment at the airport bus information desk, then use stop 2 outside the terminal. Boarding is first come, first served, without reservations; a seat is not guaranteed.
- For Hanamaki or Shin-Hanamaki Station, take the Osako–Hanamaki municipal bus. Ask the 1F information centre for the municipal stop in your direction, then check the vehicle’s destination and departure. Its stop number has not been established here; do not follow a number belonging to another route.
- For a taxi, use the official rank outside the terminal. For a rental, use the 1F arrivals rental desk. For a booked pickup, follow the operator’s confirmed meeting point and vehicle details.

Morioka buses accept cash and supported transport IC; tap on boarding and exit. The airport bus information counter lists bank cards, electronic money and QR payments, which are not the same as onboard card acceptance. Airport information lists cash, transport IC and PayPay onboard municipal buses.
Keep valuables, fragile items and power banks with you rather than in hold luggage. Morioka airport buses do not accept skis, snowboards or folding bicycles.

Hanamaki’s four stations and access to hotels
① Morioka Station · 盛岡駅
The airport bus arrives at east-exit drop-off bay 6. For an east-side hotel, use its address for directions. For the west, follow the public east–west passage and west-exit signs.
The 45-minute ride excludes crossing the station and using lifts. With difficult luggage, compare a taxi to the hotel entrance.
Airport-bound departures use east-side bay 8, different from arrival bay 6. These airport buses do not continue to Morioka Bus Centre.
For the final walk, change the map destination to your booked hotel name and address. No single station exit is closest to every hotel.
② Hanamaki Station · 花巻駅
The municipal bus towards central Hanamaki takes about 17 minutes to Hanamaki Station stop 2. This station serves the JR Tohoku Main Line and Kamaishi Line, not the Shinkansen.
From Hanamaki Station, walk or take a taxi to the hotel address. A booked onsen shuttle has its own confirmed meeting point.

The municipal bus towards Shin-Hanamaki takes about 13 minutes to station stop 5. The return-direction stop is number 4. The Shinkansen and Kamaishi Line are at the same station but have separate platforms, so follow the signs for the train you want to use when you arrive.
For Morioka by Shinkansen, find a train that actually stops here. Both the base fare and Shinkansen limited-express ticket are required; the JPY 480 municipal-bus fare includes neither. Hotel Hanamaki’s west-side shuttle bay 3 is separate from municipal arrival bay 5.
④ Hanamaki Airport Station · 花巻空港駅
This is a separate station about 4 km from the terminal. Take the airport bus, about seven minutes/JPY 340, or a taxi, then change to the JR Tohoku Main Line towards Morioka. At this intermediate stop, city-bound airport buses permit getting off only; airport-bound buses permit boarding only.
This is not a terminal station you can reach immediately after arrival. Check the bus/taxi and train separately, adding changing and waiting. Staying on the bus to Morioka reduces changes for station hotels.
⑤ Hotel Hanamaki · ホテル花巻: confirm the actual shuttle
These details concern Hotel Hanamaki. Do not apply them to every property in Hanamaki Onsen · 花巻温泉 or the wider onsen area.
- From Shin-Hanamaki Station: West-side bay 3 at 15:00, 16:10 or 17:15; about 30 minutes. Leave west, pass the taxi area and find bay 3.
- From Hanamaki Station: East exit at 15:15 or 16:15; about 20 minutes. Get the meeting point with the booking rather than assuming municipal bay 2.
- Station-departure shuttles must be booked: They do not run without a booking. No universal deadline is stated; do not assume the previous day is sufficient. Confirm station, time, passengers, bags and contact details with the hotel.
- Airport departure: Scheduled at 18:00 Wednesdays/Saturdays, about 15 minutes, meeting in arrivals. Flight conditions may delay it. Confirm guest eligibility and booking with your hotel; this is not a daily public airport shuttle.
Shuttle enquiries 0198-37-2111 (09:00–18:00). If delayed, arrange the transfer and check-in with the hotel; unlimited waiting is not established.
Airport taxi guidance estimates about 15 minutes/JPY 3,800 to the Hanamaki Onsen area. Ask for a quote to this hotel, giving its name and address: 1-125 Yumoto, Hanamaki City, Iwate.
Other hotels have separate terms. From September 2026, the tourism association lists a shuttle for guests at certain southern onsen properties at JPY 100 per person aged three or older. October 1-24, 2026: Last scheduled departure 18:25 → Airport Station 18:32 → Morioka Station 19:10.
October 25 - November 30: Last scheduled departure 18:20 → Airport Station 18:27 → Morioka Station 19:05.
Departure may change with a linked flight’s arrival. A bus linked to several flights may wait for them, but unlimited waiting or boarding is not guaranteed. Use the appropriate new table for later dates.

Last airport departure for Hanamaki Station: Weekdays 15:28 / Saturdays, Sundays, holidays 14:28 → Arrived at 15:45 and 14:45 respectively.
Last airport departure for Shin-Hanamaki Station: 16:14 every day → Arrived at 16:27. No flight-delay waiting policy is established for this municipal bus.

- Contact the bus information office and hotel promptly when delayed; arrange changes to pickup/check-in.
- Snow, ice and congestion can delay road travel. Check JR changes and allow time between connections.
- After public transport ends, ask the official rank or booked company about dispatch and the total. Late-night vehicles are not guaranteed.
- If suspensions prevent travel, discuss alternatives with the hotel. For a late solo arrival, use official information/pickup points and confirm the vehicle rather than accepting an unofficial offer.

Is there a direct bus to Morioka Station?
Yes: airport stop 2 → Morioka east-side arrival bay 6, about 45 minutes at JPY 1,500. First-come boarding has no reservations and no guaranteed seat.
Is Hanamaki Airport Station inside the terminal?
No. It is about 4 km away. Take the airport bus, about seven minutes/JPY 340, or a taxi, then JR Tohoku Main Line towards Morioka. JR fare is separate.
Should I choose Hanamaki or Shin-Hanamaki Station?
For central Hanamaki hotels and Tohoku Main Line, choose Hanamaki. For Shinkansen, choose Shin-Hanamaki, which also has a separate Kamaishi Line platform. They are different stations. Confirm the station/time of any booked hotel shuttle.
What are the municipal bus fares to these stations?
The Osako–Hanamaki bus costs JPY 410/about 17 minutes to Hanamaki Station or JPY 480/about 13 minutes to Shin-Hanamaki. It is a different operator/route from the Morioka bus; check weekday versus weekend/holiday tables.
What time are the last airport buses?
Morioka’s last scheduled airport departure is 18:25 on 1–24 October 2026, or 18:20 on 25 October–30 November. Hanamaki municipal departures end at 15:28 weekdays or 14:28 weekends/holidays; Shin-Hanamaki at 16:14 daily. Recheck the date and actual operation.
Will the airport bus wait for a delayed flight?
Morioka departures may change with linked arrivals, including waiting for multiple linked flights. This is not unlimited waiting or a guaranteed seat. Municipal buses and hotel shuttles do not automatically follow the same policy.
Do all Hanamaki Onsen hotels have free airport shuttles?
No. Hotel Hanamaki’s airport arrangement is listed at 18:00 Wednesdays/Saturdays; confirm guest eligibility and booking with the hotel. Station shuttles require reservations and do not run without them. Other properties have separate conditions.
Can I use a bank card or transport IC?
Morioka buses accept cash and supported transport IC, tapped on boarding and exit. Bank cards/e-money/QR at the airport information counter are different from onboard acceptance. Airport guidance lists cash, transport IC and PayPay on municipal buses.
What if snow disrupts travel or I miss the last bus?
Check bus and JR changes separately. October 2026’s last airport-station → Morioka train is at 22:12, but a bus from the terminal may have ended. Confirm a taxi/booked car, fare and hotel check-in. If travel is impossible, discuss a changed plan with the hotel.
