Tokushima Airport to Tokushima Station and Awa Odori Hall
Take the airport bus to Tokushima Station for a station-area hotel. An adult one-way ticket costs JPY 800, with about 28–30 minutes on board. Awa Odori Hall and nearby hotels are about a 10-minute walk southwest of the station, or a local-bus journey away. With heavy luggage, compare a booked taxi directly to your hotel.

The airport is located northeast of central Tokushima City, on the coast of Matsushige Town. When going to Tokushima Station, go southwest and cross the Yoshino River · 吉野川 to enter the city.
Because the route to Naruto goes north from the airport, the destination is different from the route to Tokushima Station.

Take the airport bus to Tokushima Station from the arrival lobby
- Exit to the arrival lobby on the 1st floor. Complete immigration, baggage collection, and customs. There is no need to go up to the departure level to catch the bus.
- Buy a ticket or prepare a payment method at the ‘リムジンバス券売機’ inside the airport. A ticket vending machine is indicated on the official map on the 1st floor. The vending machine supports transport IC card and QR payments. If you haven't purchased a ticket in advance, you can pay with cash, card touch payment, or transport IC card when you get off the bus.
- Go to platform 1 outside the first floor. Check ‘リムジンバス’ and the destination ‘徳島駅前, Tokushima Station’. The UZS BUS on No. 1 is different from the one heading to the city as it goes towards Naruto and Awaji. Number 2 next to it is the route bus stop.
- Take the Tokushima Bus Airport Limousine Bus. Seat reservations are not accepted, and if all seats are full, you must take the next bus or take a taxi. Check with the driver first if you have large luggage, and do not put power banks in the trunk.
- Get off in front of Tokushima Station. Airport-to-city buses call in the following order: In front of Tokushima University → Central Park and Court North (中央公園・裁判所北) → In front of Tokushima Station. You can only get off at intermediate stops. If your accommodation is near a station, ride to the last stop, collect your bags and head out to the pedestrian path.
Adult (middle school student or older) one-way fare is 800 yen, child fare is 400 yen. You cannot take the train directly from the airport. To use the train, you must first go to the station by bus or taxi. Airport official payment/reservation information ↗ · Operator route/timetable ↗ · Map of bus stops 1 and 2 ↗ (checked 2026-10-04)

From the station-front stop to your hotel
The final stop is the station-front rotary on the south side of JR station. The official station map shows the bus drop-off area on the west side of the plaza in front of the station entrance. After getting off according to the driver's instructions, locate yourself based on the station building.
Follow the driver for the actual drop-off. Stop 15 is for the return bus to the airport, not your arrival bay.
The station building and JR Hotel Clement are to the north, the Amico commercial facility is to the west of the plaza, and the Daiwa Roynet Hotel is to the east. For hotels on the south side of the station, find directions using the accommodation name and address on the pedestrian path outside the roundabout rather than entering through the station entrance.
Each hotel has a different entrance, so don’t walk in the same direction just looking at the description “Around Tokushima Station.”
Tokushima Station to Awa Odori Hall
Awa Odori Kaikan · 阿波おどり会館
If you walk: In front of the station → Shinmachibashi → Hall entrance
From the square south of the station, walk southwest with Shinmachi Bridge · 新町橋 as your destination. After crossing the Shinmachi River, follow the road leading towards Mt. Bizan to the front entrance of the hall.
Official tourism guidance gives about 10 minutes on foot from the station. Please consider the additional time required to exit the bus from the bus stop to the pedestrian path and wait at the signal. If you have large luggage, it is best to leave it at your accommodation and then go sightseeing.
Tokushima Station → Hall walking directions ↗If you want to reduce the amount of walking: Stop 3 → anticlockwise Southern Loop Line
From station-front stop 3, take Tokushima Bus’s city service Southern Loop Line anticlockwise · 南部循環線・左回り, route 33. Get off at Ropeway-mae · ロープウェイ前, after Shinmachi.
According to the official timetable, the ride takes about 2 minutes, costs 250 yen for adults, and is available without reservation. After getting off, follow the walking map to the entrance of the hall building. This stop is not the ropeway platform itself.
The revised timetable on April 1, 2026 shows departures from the station from 09:10 to 18:10 on both weekdays and weekends. There will be time waiting for the bus and walking from the stop to the hall, so if there is no bus to catch right away, walking may be faster. You should not assume that you can use this route for arriving at the station late at night.

Bizan Ropeway: board on the hall’s 5th floor
Bizan Ropeway · あわぎん眉山ロープウエイ
The lower ropeway station is on Awa Odori Hall’s 5th floor. Take the airport bus to the station, go to the hall, and follow the directions to the 5th floor ropeway inside the building. The destination to walk from the station is not the summit station, but the hall.
The separate ropeway ride to the Bizan summit takes about 6 minutes. The basic operating hours are 09:00 to 21:00 from April to October and 09:00 to 17:30 from November to March, but there may be service suspensions and time changes. If you arrive late, leave your luggage at your accommodation and check the ropeway’s operating status that day. Information on the official operation of the hall and ropeway ↗ (checked 2026-10-04)
Tokushima Central Park: use Washinomon as the entrance
Tokushima Central Park · 徳島中央公園
Washi-no-mon Gate · 鷲の門
Official guidance from the station to the park is About 10 minutes on foot. The park also spreads across the railway tracks to the northeast of the station, so the entry point may vary just by listing the name of the larger park.
If this is your first time, choose Washinomon in the southeast as your destination. From the plaza south of the station, exit onto the southern main road (National Route 192/318) pedestrian path, walk east to arrive at the plaza in front of Washinomon, and pass through the gate into the park.
The city-bound airport bus’s intermediate stop ‘中央公園・裁判所北’ differs from the airport-bound ‘中央公園・鷲の門前’. Going to the station and leaving bags at your hotel makes the approach simpler. To alight earlier, ask the driver which stop and walking direction suit Washinomon.

Taxis and booked pickups to your hotel entrance
- From 1F arrivals, go outside to the official taxi rank. The official layout shows a taxi rank next to bus stop number 1. The boarding points for reservation/app-dispatched vehicles are indicated separately.
- Show your accommodation name and Japanese address and confirm your destination and payment method. The airport gives an example of about JPY 5,000 per vehicle and 30 minutes to Tokushima Station. It varies depending on the accommodation location, vehicle type, and traffic congestion.
- If you have made a reservation, check the vehicle and reservation information at the pickup point designated by the company and then board. Please convey the arrival flight number, date, number of people, number of luggage, and accommodation address in advance, and also receive waiting, contact, and cancellation conditions in case of flight delay.
The airport reports that waiting taxis can be scarce and recommends booking in advance. Airport-listed Naruto Daiichi Taxi +81-88-685-5555, Tokushima Daiichi Kotsu Naruto Office +81-88-685-7777 Contact information can be found in the official list. Uber Taxi is also available at the airport, but does not guarantee a vehicle will be available upon request.
Tokushima Daiichi Kotsu lists a 20% late-night surcharge from 22:00 to 05:00. Ask the company whether surcharges, toll road tolls, and dispatch-related costs are included in the reservation quote. The same flat rate or toll is not applied to all taxis bound for the city. Examples of airport official companies, bus stops, and fees ↗ · Daiichi Kotsu fares and surcharges ↗ (checked 2026-10-04)
Rental cars: counter and collection office are separate
The airport’s 1F plan marks the rental-car counter · レンタカーカウンター. Go to your booked company’s counter with the reservation and Japan-valid driving documents. Follow its office-transfer instructions, complete the agreement and check the vehicle. Collection is not necessarily outside the terminal.
For Sky Rent-a-Car: airport counter → about four minutes by shuttle → vehicle collection at the office. If the counter is unstaffed, call +81-88-699-3977. Open from 09:00 to 19:00 Arrivals after 18:40 are not supported. Check this collection restriction before booking.
Other companies have their own collection deadlines and flight-delay policies; check your booked branch.
Set navigation to the hotel car park. Allow about 30 minutes driving southwest to central Tokushima, plus office paperwork, collection and traffic.
If you are only planning to do a walking tour in the city, compare the parking and return costs, and consider renting a car when exploring various places outside the city together.

Last airport buses and flight-delay exceptions
For 1–24 October 2026, the last airport→Tokushima Station bus leaves at 21:10 and arrives at 21:38, linked to JAL465’s scheduled 21:00 arrival. These are city-bound times, not the return timetable. For travel after October 25th, do not use these last-bus times and check the new timetable.
The scheduled departure times from the airport during this period are 08:20, 10:25, 11:05, 11:55, 14:10, 14:55, 16:30 (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday Incheon), 17:05, 18:45, 19:30, 19:45, 21:10. There are no separate day restrictions for the domestic connecting flights above, except for the Incheon flight, but if the connecting flight is suspended, buses may also be changed or suspended.
- Regular linked arrivals: the operator confirms passengers have left the arrival gate and can adjust departure for a delayed flight. Major delays may prevent operation; waiting is not unlimited.
- Incheon Eastar Jet connecting flights: According to the operator's October timetable, even if the flight is delayed, the linked bus departs on time. If you come to the lobby after 16:30, check the remaining buses and taxis on site.
- Full seats: If all seats are filled, the bus will depart and use the next bus or a taxi. Seats are not guaranteed just because you are connecting to an incoming flight.
If you missed the last bus, contact the official taxi stand or reservation company. If you are arriving late, it may be a good idea to book in advance as the airport reports a shortage of taxis. If you reach the station at about 21:38, the last 18:10 service on the Southern Loop Line towards the hall has already ended.
For hotels near stations, check the remaining walking distance by address, and for hotels near halls, compare taxi or walking routes. Please inform the accommodation in advance of your available check-in time.
Airport limousine buses do not reserve seats. For an unused ticket, check changes/refunds with its seller. Ask the operator. Highway-bus refund rules do not automatically apply to this airport ticket.

Awa Odori Festival: temporary stops and hotel access
The 2026 Summer Festival has ended. Traffic restrictions, stop changes and extra airport buses for the next festival have not yet been confirmed. For normal travel routes, follow the guidance above, but if travelling for a festival, check the year's notice to see if the stops in front of the station and the road to the accommodation are maintained.
A previous festival’s detour is not the current everyday route.
The official timetable for the Southern Loop Line states that it will run on weekends and public holidays from August 12th to 15th, but this alone does not confirm the control or temporary service of future festivals. Naruto is a different direction from Tokushima city
Naruto Station · 鳴門駅 / Naruto Park · 鳴門公園
Naruto Station: at airport stop 2, choose a Naruto Line bus via Naruto Station. The major-stop timetable revised 1 October 2026 lists airport→station departures separately for weekdays and weekends/public holidays. Blank airport entries are services that do not serve the airport.
There is no need to go back to Tokushima Station when going to the station.
At platform number 1 UZS BUS serves Naruto Station. It costs 800 yen for adults, takes about 15 minutes, and is a demonstration operation that started on July 20, 2026. The ‘Reservation’ section book by 23:59 three days before travel, and reservation conditions for regular departures vary depending on the date and peak season.
The route and payment time are different from the No. 1 bus to Tokushima Station, so please check the destination in front of the car.
Naruto Park: at airport stop 2, choose a Naruto Line service actually bound for Naruto Park. You should not think of the trip to Naruto Station or the University of Education/Uchinoumi as a direct trip to the park. UZS BUS stops at Naruto Station, resorts, art museums, etc., but Naruto Park is not on the list of stops.
Whirlpool tourist facilities: Naruto Station, Naruto Park, and sightseeing boat dock are each different destinations. The map on this page covers movement within Tokushima city, so it does not provide guidance on how to get off at each attraction and then walk or transfer to a bus. Please check the official access information for the facility you have booked for for the exact stop/wharf and return route.

How do I reach Awa Odori Hall?
Take the airport bus to the station, then walk southwest via Shinmachibashi; official guidance gives about ten minutes to the hall. Alternatively, take Southern Loop Line anticlockwise route 33 from station-front stop 3 to Ropeway-mae, about two minutes/JPY 250, then walk to the hall. Waiting is extra.
Where do I board Bizan Ropeway?

The operator lists limits of 10 kg total weight, 0.3 m³ volume and 1 m length. Ask before boarding about larger or multiple bags. Keep power banks with you rather than in the luggage hold.
Will the last airport bus wait for a delayed flight?
For 1–24 October 2026, the last airport→station departure is 21:10, arriving 21:38. Regular flight-linked departures can adjust for delays, but major delays may prevent operation. The Incheon Eastar Jet-linked bus departs on time even if that flight is late. After the last bus, enquire about an official taxi or confirmed pickup and contact your hotel.
Does Awa Odori Festival change the route?
Temporary traffic restrictions and stops can change the final hotel approach. The 2026 summer festival has ended; next year’s detailed restrictions and extra buses are not confirmed. Use the official festival and Tokushima Bus notices for your travel year, rather than a past event’s detour.
Must I go via Tokushima Station to reach Naruto?
No. At airport stop 2, choose a Naruto Line service calling at your destination, or compare UZS BUS at stop 1 for Naruto Station. Naruto Park is separate and is not on the UZS BUS stop list. Confirm the exact stop, pier and final connection with your booked whirlpool attraction.
