See the street outside Takayama Jinya, red Nakabashi Bridge and the village of Shirakawa-go. At the Hotakadake hut, separate cameras face east and west, so the mountain view depends on which one you open.
Takayama’s old streets and Shirakawa-go can make a good pairing, but they are not in the same town. Bus times, especially the return trip, will determine how much time you can spend in each.
Takayama works for spring or autumn walks; Shirakawa-go draws winter snow seekers. Check mountain-road and visitor access conditions for your date.
Hida beef suits a longer meal; Takayama ramen makes a shorter food stop.
