3 nights, 4 days

A day each for Kotohira and Yashima

Spend three nights in Takamatsu for the main shrine and Seto Inland Sea views, visiting Kotohira and Yashima separately. Kotohira involves ascent/descent; Yashima connects to a summit shuttle.

Day 1 · Ritsurin Garden

First check whether arrival leaves enough time before that day’s garden closing. For late arrival, move the garden and adjust that day’s travel too.

  1. Your booked Takamatsu accommodation → Takamatsu-Chikko and Ritsurin-Koen stations

Take a Kotohira-direction Kotoden train from Takamatsu-Chikko to Ritsurin-Koen. Walk towards the east gate. If late arrival leaves too little visiting time, swap the garden with another day.

  2. Ritsurin-Koen Station → Ritsurin Garden east gate

Walk about 7 minutes to the east gate. Ticketing, visiting and rest need extra time. Compare arrival with that month’s closing to decide if there is enough time.

  3. Ritsurin Garden and Ritsurin-Koen Station → Accommodation in Takamatsu

Explore the harbour and ferry ticket office, then rest in Takamatsu. Do not cross to the island today.

  1. Your booked Takamatsu accommodation → Miyanoura-bound ferry ticket office at Takamatsu Port

Check the route from your accommodation and walk to the port. Official access is about 5 minutes from JR Takamatsu or 3 from Kotoden Takamatsu-Chikko, not from your hotel door. It also includes Chichu online adult admission at JPY 2,500 on weekdays or JPY 2,700 on weekends and public holidays.

Extra costs: Flights, accommodation, meals, airport transfers, separately used accommodation-to-station/boarding-point transport and extra travel cost more. Garden boats/tea houses, high-speed-boat fare differences, taxis and other island museums are excluded.

For one adult, with Kotoden starting at Takamatsu-Chikko. Chichu’s weekday/weekend/public-holiday price depends on the museum visiting day, not trip start. Recalculate actual items if omitting the museum or changing transport. One town-bus ride instead of two removes JPY 100; add actual high-speed/taxi fares separately. Frequently asked questions

Does a Chichu booking guarantee boat boarding?

Museum booking and boarding are separate. Shikoku Kisen boards first come without ordinary reservations; check operation/capacity that day. Sold-out online museum entry means no same-day counter sales.

What does an All Shikoku Pass cover in the four-day courses?

Kotohira/Yashima Kotoden and JR local trains are eligible, but the summit shuttle is separate. For Naoshima, Kotoden to/from Ritsurin is eligible; boats, town bus, free shuttle and museum entry are outside the train pass. The shuttle is free without a pass too, with operating/capacity conditions. Check foreign-passport/Temporary Visitor eligibility and consecutive use dates.
