Shizuoka Airport to Shizuoka, Shimada and Kakegawa
If you are staying near Shizuoka Station, take the direct bus from bus stop 3 at the airport. If you are staying near Shimada Station, take the bus to Shimada from stop 2. You can get to Kakegawa by paid shuttle taxi or transfer to JR at Kanaya Station. There is no rail station at the airport, and the FDA's free bus service in the past has ended.

First check which station your accommodation is near
Shizuoka Station · 静岡駅, Shimada Station · 島田駅, Kakegawa Station · 掛川駅 are located in different cities. Just because the airport name has “Shizuoka” in it, doesn’t mean that all hotels are located near Shizuoka Station.
Check the address of the accommodation you booked and the nearest station, then select your destination.
Regular buses and paid shuttle taxis are different services from the FDA free shuttle, which is used only by passengers of specific airlines. Kakegawa shuttle taxi must meet reception and reservation conditions for each direction.
The times below are from after getting into the vehicle. International immigration, baggage pickup, transfer to the boarding area, waiting for the next departure, JR transfer, and walking to the accommodation must be added separately. Bus and shuttle taxi times are estimates from the official current timetable and vary depending on traffic conditions.

From arrivals to the right boarding point
- Collect your bags and enter the first-floor arrivals hall. Keep your hotel's Japanese address and booking details ready.
- Outside the terminal, stop 1 serves Fujieda, stop 2 serves Shimada and Kanaya, and stop 3 serves Shizuoka and Shin-Shizuoka. At stop 2, check whether the vehicle is bound for 島田駅 (Shimada) or 金谷駅 (Kanaya).
- For the Kakegawa shuttle taxi, apply on the day at first-floor general information instead of joining a bus line. Confirm the departure and actual meeting point there; a fixed boarding-bay number has not been established.
- Check payment before boarding. After getting off, collect your bags and find the exit for your hotel, or buy a separate JR ticket for onward travel.

Payment varies by route
The Shizuoka and Shimada routes list cash and supported transit IC cards. Bank-card contactless was introduced on the Shizuoka Airport Line on March 23, 2026: tap the same card or device at the green reader on boarding and the yellow reader on exiting. Do not assume these bank-card instructions apply to Shimada or Fujieda.

Shizuoka and Shin-Shizuoka: board at stop 3
Shin-Shizuoka Station · 新静岡駅
- Leave arrivals and go to stop 3.
- Check 静岡駅・新静岡 on the destination sign. Seats are first come, first served, without reservations; you cannot board a full bus. Wear your seat belt on highway sections.
- For JR, Shinkansen or hotels near Shizuoka Station, get off on its north side. For Shin-Shizuoka, stay on to the final stop.
- For a north-side hotel, follow its address from the stop. For a south-side hotel, use the station's public route to the opposite exit, not the Shinkansen gates.
The adult fare is ¥1,200, with a ride of 57 minutes to Shizuoka Station or 60 minutes to Shin-Shizuoka. For the return trip, use north-side stop 14 at Shizuoka Station or stop 6 at Shin-Shizuoka. The current last airport-bound departure from Shizuoka Station is 15:15, changing to 15:55 on October 25. These are not the last city-bound times.
Shizuoka Station serves the Tokaido Main Line and Tokaido Shinkansen. In JR Central's basic timetable, Kodama and some Hikari trains stop here; Nozomi does not. Check the travel date, stopping pattern, fare and seat reservation, and avoid a train departing immediately after the bus's scheduled arrival. The bus fare does not include Shinkansen travel.

Shimada: the direct bus finishes early
- At airport stop 2, choose 島田駅南口 (Shimada Station south exit), not a Kanaya-bound vehicle.
- The current regular departures are 10:40 and 13:00. The adult fare is ¥600 and the ride takes 25 minutes.
- Walk to a south-side hotel using its address, or follow the station map and signs to the north side for a hotel there.
From October 25, airport departures change to 10:20 and 12:00. If neither works, compare the Kanaya bus and a JR Tokaido Main Line transfer. Shimada is not a Shinkansen station; travel separately to a stopping station such as Shizuoka or Kakegawa for the Shinkansen.
The 15:20 Kanaya service uses a nine-seat jumbo taxi, not a large regular bus, and continues through Kanaya to Shimada's south side at 15:53 for ¥870. It is different from the ¥600, 25-minute direct bus. Ask about passenger and baggage capacity.
Return regular buses leave from Shimada Station south-side stop 4 at 11:30 and 16:00 under the current timetable, changing to 11:10 and 15:00 on October 25.

Kakegawa: shared shuttle taxi or a JR change at Kanaya
The FDA free shuttle ended on October 25, 2025. Do not use its old timetable or an old ¥1,500 shuttle-taxi price. The current shared shuttle taxi costs ¥1,700 per person one way. Airport's 2026 transportation notice ↗
Shared shuttle taxi without a vehicle change
- Apply on the day at first-floor general information. Give your passenger and bag counts and confirm the departure and meeting point.
- Current airport departures are 09:50, 11:50, 13:00, 13:55, 15:55, 16:55, 17:55 and 20:45, with a ride of 35 minutes.
- Get off on Kakegawa Station's south side. Walk to your hotel or enter the station for JR; use the station map to reach north-side hotels.
Children under three travel free. Pay with cash or PayPay. You share the vehicle with other passengers; it is not a private car or an unlimited-baggage offer.
The return trip needs a reservation two days ahead
Reserve Kakegawa Station → airport at least two days before travel. Call 0537-22-3610 during 10:00–16:00, or apply online by 24:00 two days before. The service does not operate without reservations, and passengers cannot board or leave at other locations. Reach the south-side shuttle stand at least five minutes before your booking time.
For a cancellation or if you are running late, call 0537-22-3231; cancellations are not accepted by email. Ask about changes and cancellation fees if a flight delay causes you to miss the booked departure. Operator booking and cancellation conditions ↗ · Official current fare and timetable ↗
JR connection at Kanaya Station
Kanaya Station · 金谷駅
- Take the 金谷駅 bus from airport stop 2: ¥500, about 15 minutes.
- At Kanaya, choose JR Tokaido Main Line trains toward Kakegawa or Hamamatsu. The separate Oigawa Railway does not provide this JR connection.
- Buy a separate JR ticket to Kakegawa. In JR Central's basic Shinkansen timetable, Kakegawa is a Kodama stop, not a Hikari or Nozomi stop. Change again at Kakegawa for onward Shinkansen travel.
- Use the north or south exit for your hotel's address.
Check the travel date's JR wait, ride time and fare separately. The 15-minute airport bus ride is not the total journey to Kakegawa. Shinkansen travel requires its base fare and limited express charge.

Fujieda: board at airport stop 1
Fujieda Station · 藤枝駅
Take a 藤枝駅南口 bus from stop 1 and get off on the station's south side. The adult one-way fare is ¥500 and the usual ride is 40 minutes. The 17:30 weekday airport departure takes 50 minutes; the same departure takes 40 minutes on weekends and public holidays. Check the arrival time for your travel day. Return buses use south-side stop 6. Use your hotel's actual address for the final walk. Fujieda official fares and timetables ↗

Shizutetsu's winter timetable starts October 25; Fujieda's winter period runs through March 27, 2027. Winter departure times for Kanaya and the Kakegawa shuttle were not established by the reviewed sources, so check their new operator timetables. Current timetable ↗ · Timetable from October 25th ↗
Landing before the last bus does not guarantee you can catch it. Allow for immigration, baggage collection and reaching the boarding point or shuttle reception. Some departures may be adjusted for delayed flights, but buses are not guaranteed to wait indefinitely.
Check the onward JR timetable from Kanaya and the Shinkansen timetable from Kakegawa or Shizuoka separately. Catching the last airport bus does not guarantee a train connection.
The JR station timetable pages for Shizuoka and Kakegawa were under maintenance during the source review, so the last connecting trains could not be confirmed. The basic Shinkansen timetable does not include every additional service. Check trains for your actual travel date.

Metered taxis and reserved flat fares are different
For a regular taxi, cross the first crosswalk outside the terminal to the official stand in the shared taxi/private-car lane on the right. Show your hotel's Japanese address and confirm passengers, bags, payment and the estimated total. A reserved car uses the meeting point in its booking.
The airport lists per-vehicle estimates of ¥3,300 to Kanaya, ¥4,200 to Shimada, ¥6,400 to Fujieda and ¥8,100 to Kakegawa. These are estimates, not fixed fares. Metered fares vary with the trip; the taxi association lists a 20% late-night/early-morning surcharge from 22:00 to 05:00. Confirm your company's conditions.
For eligible areas around Shizuoka Station, the airport lists a reserved flat fare of ¥11,500 plus highway tolls, under the November 25, 2025 revision. Check eligible and excluded addresses and participating companies. Do not apply it to every hotel in the prefecture or assume the general metered late-night surcharge applies to this reserved product. Official tickets and reservations
You can check the operator’s official usage and reservation information at the link below. For regular buses bound for Shizuoka, Shimada, and Kanaya, check the payment method before boarding, and for Kakegawa shuttle taxis, check the reception/reservation conditions for each direction of travel.
Regular bus and JR tickets are separate. Rail passes do not automatically include buses and shuttle taxis, so check the eligible sections. If you miss your booked transportation due to a flight delay, you must check with the relevant operating company for changes, cancellations, and contact conditions.
Shizuoka Airport transfer, frequently asked questions
Is Shizuoka Airport close to Mount Fuji sightseeing areas?
The airport's name does not establish the distance to your destination. It is in Makinohara, and this guide covers stations and hotels in Shizuoka, Shimada and Kakegawa. For Mount Fuji, choose a specific destination—such as Kawaguchiko, Fujinomiya or a trailhead—and check its route and operating dates separately.
How do I reach Shizuoka Station?
Take a 静岡駅・新静岡 bus from airport stop 3. The adult fare to Shizuoka Station's north side is ¥1,200 and the current scheduled ride is 57 minutes. Add immigration, baggage collection, waiting and the final walk.
Is there a railway or Shinkansen station at the airport?
No. Take a bus or taxi to a station. Shizuoka and Kakegawa serve the Tokaido Shinkansen; Shimada and Kanaya serve the Tokaido Main Line. You cannot board a Shinkansen at Shimada.
How often do buses run to Shimada?
The current regular airport departures are 10:40 and 13:00, changing to 10:20 and 12:00 on October 25. Board at stop 2: ¥600, about 25 minutes. If the times do not suit you, compare a Kanaya bus and JR transfer.
Can I use the old free FDA bus to Kakegawa?
No. It ended on October 25, 2025. Compare the paid shared shuttle taxi or JR via Kanaya. The shuttle costs ¥1,700 per person one way; airport-to-Kakegawa passengers apply on the day at first-floor general information.
Can I take the return Kakegawa shuttle without a reservation?
No. Reserve station-to-airport travel at least two days ahead. Telephone bookings close at 16:00 and online applications at 24:00 on the deadline day. The service does not operate without bookings. Reach the south-side shuttle stand at least five minutes before your reservation.
Can I use an IC card or credit card?
Shizuoka and Shimada routes list cash and supported transit IC cards. Bank-card contactless on the Shizuoka Airport Line does not establish acceptance on every route. The airport's Kanaya guidance lists cash, IC, QR and credit-card options. The Kakegawa shared shuttle accepts cash or PayPay.
When do the last city-bound services leave?
Through October 24, last airport departures are 20:40 for Shizuoka, 13:00 for Shimada, 19:00 for Fujieda, 20:35 for Kanaya and 20:45 for the Kakegawa shuttle. From October 25, Shizuoka changes to 21:10, Shimada to 12:00 and Fujieda to 19:05. Winter Kanaya and Kakegawa times need separate confirmation. Landing before departure does not guarantee boarding.
What if I have several bags or arrive late?
Ask about bus baggage space or shuttle capacity. The 15:20 Kanaya service uses a nine-seat vehicle, unlike a regular large bus. After the last service, ask at the official taxi stand or your reserved-car company using your destination and passenger/bag counts. Contact your hotel too. A flight delay does not guarantee a refund or unlimited waiting.
