Reserve museum admission first, choosing a time that leaves room for the return shuttle, town bus, and ferry. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I visit Yashima and Naoshima on the same day?

Visit them on separate days. Yashima requires round-trip train and summit shuttle travel; Naoshima requires round-trip boats and island buses. Combining them leaves less time for visits and return connections. Choose their order around Yashimāru’s closed days and Chichu’s available reservations. On Naoshima, choose an admission time that lets you finish in time for your boat back. Keep the island visit off the day you leave Japan.

Yashimaru October CalendarDate-Specific Opening CalendarOfficial Ticket Calendar

Are ordinary tickets cheaper for these four-night itineraries?

For only the travel described here, ordinary tickets are cheaper. Adult fares for pass-eligible trains total ¥2,620 in the Kotohira overnight itinerary and ¥1,060 in the Takamatsu stay with Naoshima itinerary. For passes issued from October 1, 2026, the adult ALL SHIKOKU Rail Pass costs ¥12,000 for 3 days or ¥20,000 for 7 days. The Kotohira overnight itinerary uses trains on days two through five, so one 3-day pass cannot cover all of them. Recompare actual fares and consecutive days only if you add JR travel in other prefectures. Boats, island buses, the Yashima shuttle, and admission remain separate.
