How to get to city centre Hiroshima from Hiroshima Airport
If you are staying near Hiroshima Station, take a bus to Hiroshima Station. If you are staying near Kamiyacho or the Atomic Bomb Dome, take a bus to Hiroshima Bus Centre. Both routes cost 1,500 yen one way for adults. The station-bound bus arrives on the north side of Hiroshima Station, and the bus route towards the Bus Centre arrives on the 3rd floor of Sogo Department Store, so you can choose the drop-off point closest to your accommodation.
Hiroshima Airport · 広島空港 (HIJ) is located far from the city centre and there is no railway station within the terminal. It takes about 50 minutes to travel by bus to the station, and about 55 minutes to the bus centre via Nakasuji. International immigration, baggage, customs, and boarding waiting must be added separately.

- After completing the immigration procedures, go to the arrival lobby on the 1st floor. The international and domestic arrival lobbies are both on the 1st floor. For international flights, clear customs and follow the bus signs. Some facilities are currently in temporary operation due to terminal construction, so please use the guide map on the first floor. - Check the bus destination and bus stop number first. In the official bus stop information, number 1 is for Bus Centre via Nakasuji, number 2 is for Hiroshima Station Shinkansen Exit, number 4 is for Shiraichi/Saijō Station, and number 5 is for taxi. The bus to the centre departing at 09:30, 13:05, and 18:15 passes through Hiroshima Station, so you must take number 2. Even though they are bound for the same bus centre, these three buses do not stop at Nakasuji. Official boarding point information In
- Please prepare a cash ticket or support card/digital ticket. Cash users purchase a ticket appropriate for their destination at the ticket machine in the first floor lobby. The one-way ticket to the station or bus centre is 1,500 yen for adults and 750 yen for children. You can compare ticket machine credit card payment, supported transit IC, supported card contactless payment and MOBIRY TRAVEL digital ticket. Suica, ICOCA, etc. can be used, but PiTaPa is not accepted for Hiroden and Geiyo services. IC charging is not possible on these two companies' buses, so fill up the balance in advance. - Leave your luggage and look at the destination in front of the bus. Limousine buses have unreserved seats and if they are full, you must check the next bus. Place the suitcase in the trunk according to the driver's instructions, and carry valuables, breakable items, and mobile batteries with you. For large or special baggage, check the operator's baggage regulations first. When you arrive, collect your luggage and then go to the station entrance or bus centre exit. Check whether your accommodation at Hiroshima Station is north or south.
Buses to Hiroshima Station · 広島駅 arrive at the drop-off area at the North Shinkansen Exit (新幹線口). If it is a hotel in the north, pick up your luggage and move towards the accommodation address.
For lodgings in the south and in front of the station, you must go from the north to the south through the free passageway of the station. If you consider the north and south exits of the station as the same exit, you can go back with your luggage.
The city tram currently runs on the second floor of the South Station building. Check the passage connecting JR and the North Exit on the official Hiroden station and boarding area guide map, which has changed since opening in August 2025. Hiroshima Bus Centre · 広島バスセンター is a terminal on the 3rd floor of the Sogo Hiroshima branch. The itinerary for lodgings around Kamiyacho · 紙屋町, the Atomic Bomb Dome, and the north side of the park is comparable to the route of taking the train back from the station. ‘Bus Centre’ does not refer to the bus stop in front of Hiroshima Station.
After picking up your luggage, go to the ground level following the passage/elevator signs at the disembarkation area on the terminal guide map on the 3rd floor. Bus tickets can be purchased separately at the airport ticket machine, and JR tickets can be purchased separately at the station.
Adult bus 490 yen + JR local train 860 yen = 1,350 yen. The bus takes about 13 to 14 minutes based on the current route chart, and the train according to the airport connection table takes about 45 to 48 minutes to Hiroshima.
In addition to the on-board journey time for buses and trains, the time to collect luggage from the bus and walk to the station, moving to the ticket gate and platform, and waiting time for the train are added. Buses run as follows: 09:05 → 09:19, 10:00 → 10:13, and there is also a time slot after 12:15 at 14:15, so it should not be thought of as a constant short interval.
Geiyo's revised table on March 29, 2026 distinguishes between the 07:20 weekday bus and the weekend/holiday schedule. The JR connection table at the airport would direct you to, for example, 10:00 airport → 10:13 Shiraichi → 10:27 train → 11:12 Hiroshima. Including the 14-minute transfer wait, the total is 72 minutes, and you could miss this train if there is a connection delay. We can't say for sure that this is always the best route, which is faster or cheaper than a direct bus. Revised table on March 29, 2026 · JR connection table

When going from Hiroshima Station towards Kamiyacho and Atomic Bomb Dome
The Hiroden Station departure table (revised on March 28, 2026) shows the last stop at 22:33 for Line 6 bound for Eba and 23:09 for Line 2 bound for Hatsukaichi on all weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Line 2 23:09 does not go to Miyajimaguchi. Even if you pass through the Atomic Bomb Dome/Kamiyacho section, you must check the destination stop and notices for the day's operation. You cannot take the 22:33 train from the last airport bus that arrives at 22:45. Please calculate the extra time to collect luggage at the north-exit bus drop-off point → cross the station → reach the level 2 tram platform.

There is a separate table for peak season and year-end and New Year holidays, so check the operation calendar for your travel date. The last airport-to-city bus reaches the city at 22:45, so it cannot be connected because it is already after the last island-bound ferry at 22:42. Even if the last JR train is late, it doesn't mean you can get to the island. Regular ferry timetable
In the JR official timetable on October 5, 2026, the last departure passing Hiroshima → Miyajimaguchi will depart at 00:04 the next day, and Miyajimaguchi time is 00:31. But you have to go much earlier to catch the last boat. The train departing at 22:00 in the same table is marked as 22:27 at Miyajimaguchi, and the train departing at 22:20 on the same table is marked as 22:47, which is already past the last departure time. 22:00 One-way connection is not guaranteed as you only have 15 minutes to walk from the station to the terminal, purchase tickets, and board. Check the timetable for your travel date again, and choose the train ahead if you have a lot of luggage or are travelling for the first time. JR official timetable for October 5, 2026
The last departure to Miyajimaguchi on Line 2 is currently at 22:31 on the Hiroshima Station departure schedule, but if it departs at that time, it will not be able to connect to the 22:42 ferry. The last departure/tram and the last ferry to the island must be judged separately.

Getting from Hiroshima Airport, Frequently asked questions
How do I get from Hiroshima Airport to the city?
For hotels near Hiroshima Station, take the airport limousine bus from No. 2 to the station's Shinkansen exit, and for hotels near Kamiyacho/Bus Centre, take the limousine bus from No. 1 to the bus centre. One-way fare for adults is 1,500 yen, and the ride takes approximately 50 minutes to the station and 55 minutes to the bus centre via Nakasuji. Immigration, baggage claim, and waiting are separate.
Should I take the bus bound for Hiroshima Station or Bus Centre?
The station-bound bus arrives at the Shinkansen exit on the north side of Hiroshima Station, and for the bus centre, you will arrive at the 3rd floor of the Sogo Hiroshima branch. Compare getting off at the bus centre around Atomic Bomb Dome/Peace Memorial Park and Kamiyacho. 09:30·13:05·18:15 The route to the Bus Centre passes through the station and departs from Airport No. 2, so it must be differentiated from the general route No. 1.
Can I take the train directly from the airport?
There is no railway station in the terminal. An alternative is to take the Geiyo Bus from No. 4 to Shiraichi Station for 490 yen and transfer to the JR Sanyo Main Line toward Hiroshima. Adding 860 yen for a local train costs 1,350 yen one way for an adult, and bus and train tickets are purchased separately. Buses take about 13-14 minutes, trains take about 45-48 minutes, plus transfers and waiting, so they are not always faster than direct buses.
Is reservation required for the airport bus?
Limousine buses bound for Hiroshima Station and Bus Centre offer unreserved seats for general passengers. If all seats are full, you must check the next service, and even if you buy a digital ticket in advance, you will not be guaranteed a seat. Wheelchair-accessible seats require separate advance phone reservation. For shared taxis to Miyajimaguchi, unlike this bus, make sure to make a reservation online first.
How do I get to the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park?
Get off at the 3rd floor of the bus centre, go down to street level, then walk south-west to the Atomic Bomb Dome. The city guide is about a 5-minute walk, and waiting for the elevator and carrying luggage are separate. From the Atomic Bomb Dome, cross Motoyasu Bridge and enter the northeastern part of the park. If you are departing from Hiroshima Station, take Line 2 or Line 6 at Hiroden tram platform on Level 2 and get off in front of the Atomic Bomb Dome and walk.
How do I get from the airport to Miyajima?
Take the bus to Hiroshima Station → JR Sanyo Main Line towards Iwakuni → JR Miyajimaguchi Station → Ferry Terminal → Miyajima. Adding 1,500 yen for the airport bus, 420 yen for the JR local train, 200 yen for the JR ferry, and 100 yen for the arrival tax, the adult one-way fare is 2,220 yen. Waiting for station/ferry transfers is separate. You can also compare reserved shared taxis to Miyajimaguchi during the day.
What do I do if my flight is late or I miss the last departure?
In the airport departure table from October 1 to 24, 2026, the last trip to the station is 21:55 and the last trip to the bus centre is 21:50. Departure time may change depending on aircraft arrival status, but boarding for all delayed flights is not guaranteed. If there is no bus available, check the dispatch and fare at taxi stand number 5 outside the first floor or at the reservation office and inform the accommodation of the delayed arrival. A late arrival into the city centre should not be considered a connection to the last ferry to Miyajima.
