HIJ → Choose the arrival stop for your hotel
How to get to downtown Hiroshima from Hiroshima Airport
For a hotel near Hiroshima Station, choose the station-bound bus, which arrives on the north side. For Kamiyacho or the Atomic Bomb Dome, choose Hiroshima Bus Center on Sogo Department Store's third floor. Both routes cost ¥1,500 one way for adults. Check your hotel's address before choosing a stop.
Hiroshima Airport · 広島空港 (HIJ) is outside the city center and has no terminal railway station. Bus rides take about 50 minutes to Hiroshima Station or 55 minutes to the Bus Center via Nakasuji. Add time for immigration, baggage claim, customs and waiting for a bus.

From first-floor arrivals to your boarding stop
- Complete arrival formalities and enter the first-floor arrivals lobby. Both international and domestic arrivals are on this floor. International passengers also clear customs before following the bus signs. Terminal construction has temporarily moved some facilities; use the current floor map rather than shop locations in old photos. Current first-floor map ↗
- Choose the stop for your route: 1 for Hiroshima Bus Center via Nakasuji, 2 for Hiroshima Station's Shinkansen Exit, 4 for Shiraichi/Saijo and 5 for taxis. The 09:30, 13:05 and 18:15 Bus Center services run via Hiroshima Station and use stop 2, not stop 1. Those three do not stop at Nakasuji. Official boarding stops ↗
- Buy a ticket at a first-floor lobby machine if paying in cash, or prepare a supported card or digital ticket. Station and Bus Center fares are ¥1,500 for adults or ¥750 for children. Options include machine credit-card payment, supported transit IC cards, supported bank-card contactless and MOBIRY TRAVEL digital tickets. Hiroden and Geiyo accept cards such as Suica and ICOCA but not PiTaPa, and do not offer IC top-ups on the bus. Add balance beforehand. Ticket machines and payment ↗
- Check the destination before loading your bags. General limousine seats are unreserved; if full, check the next departure. Load suitcases as the driver directs and keep valuables, fragile items and power banks with you. Ask about oversized or special baggage. Collect every bag after arrival before walking onward. Hiroshima Station: north-side arrival or south-side hotel?
Hiroshima Station · 広島駅 airport buses arrive at the north-side Shinkansen Exit (新幹線口). Collect your bags and follow your hotel's address if it is on the north side. For a south-side hotel, use the public passage through the station; the two exits are not the same place.
Since the August 2025 opening, Hiroden trams board on the second floor of the south-side station building. Follow the current JR-to-tram passage and elevator guidance, not photos of the old outdoor platforms. Look for 路面電車 / Tram signs. Current Hiroden station and boarding map ↗
For Kamiyacho or the Atomic Bomb Dome, compare route 2 toward Miyajimaguchi/Nishi-Hiroshima or route 6 toward Eba. Routes 1 and 5 do not provide this Dome connection. The standard cash or supported-IC adult fare is ¥240. Choose the stop for your hotel's address, then check boarding, payment and departure instructions. Using Hiroden trams ↗ · Station departures ↗
Kamiyacho hotels: arrive at Hiroshima Bus Center
Hiroshima Bus Center · 広島バスセンター is on the third floor of Sogo Hiroshima. For Kamiyacho · 紙屋町, the Atomic Bomb Dome or the park's north side, compare this arrival with a tram transfer from Hiroshima Station. The Bus Center is not the station-front bus area.
Collect your bags and follow the third-floor terminal map's passage and elevator signs to street level. Stop 2 is for airport-bound departures, not a guaranteed arrival bay. For a Hondori or Hatchobori hotel, use its actual address rather than automatically heading toward the Dome. Third-floor terminal layout ↗
The official Bus Center–Dome walk is about five minutes at street level. Add the trip down from the third floor, crossing waits and time with bags. Bus Center → Atomic Bomb Dome ↗
From the Atomic Bomb Dome to Peace Memorial Park
The Atomic Bomb Dome · 原爆ドーム and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park · 平和記念公園 are separate places. Walking southwest from the Bus Center brings you first to the Dome. The city's guidance says it is viewed from outside the enclosure; visitors cannot enter it. Hiroshima City Dome guidance ↗
Cross Motoyasu Bridge · 元安橋 south of the Dome to enter the park's northeast side, then continue south toward the cenotaph and Peace Memorial Museum. The city gives about 10 minutes from the Bus Center to the park, but the final distance depends on which facility you visit. Official park map ↗
From Hiroshima Station, take a suitable tram to Genbaku-dome-mae · 原爆ドーム前, then walk toward the Dome. This is a tram stop, not JR Hiroshima Station. Genbaku-dome-mae → park cenotaph ↗
Alternative: bus to Shiraichi, then JR
Shiraichi Station · 白市駅 is a JR Sanyo Main Line station outside the airport. Take Geiyo Bus from airport stop 4 to Shiraichi and change to JR toward Hiroshima/Iwakuni, not the opposite Mihara/Fukuyama direction. Buy the bus ticket at the airport machine and the JR ticket separately at the station.
The adult total is ¥490 for the bus + ¥860 for a regular JR train = ¥1,350. Bus rides take about 13–14 minutes, and the airport connection table shows roughly 45–48 minutes by train to Hiroshima. Add unloading bags, walking, tickets and the train wait.
The schedule has gaps: examples include 09:05 → 09:19 and 10:00 → 10:13, while a 12:15 departure is followed by 14:15. Do not assume a frequent, regular interval. Geiyo's March 29, 2026 timetable also distinguishes a weekday 07:20 bus from weekend and holiday service.
One published connection is airport 10:00 → Shiraichi 10:13, then JR 10:27 → Hiroshima 11:12: 72 minutes including a 14-minute transfer. A delay can break it, so the route is not automatically faster than a direct bus. Geiyo timetable ↗ · Airport JR connections ↗
Do not assume the bus has limousine-style luggage storage. Check Geiyo's baggage, cash/IC and child-fare rules and whether you can manage the station transfer. Last bus and train times must be checked separately. Geiyo route information ↗
Miyajima: bus, JR and a separate ferry
- Take the airport bus to Hiroshima Station's north side, collect your bags and find the conventional JR gates, not the Shinkansen gates.
- Take the JR Sanyo Main Line toward Iwakuni to Miyajimaguchi Station · 宮島口駅. The ferry operator gives about 28 minutes for the ride; the adult JR fare is ¥420, separate from the airport bus. Ferry operator's station access ↗
- Walk about five minutes toward the seaside ferry terminal, adding time for bags, crossings and tickets. The official route uses the underpass beneath the national highway; consult its elevator route if needed. Hiroden Miyajimaguchi · 広電宮島口 is a separate tram terminus. Accessible terminal route ↗
- Buy a JR Miyajima Ferry ticket at the counter or machine, or use a supported IC card. The crossing takes about 10 minutes. The adult fare is ¥200 plus the ¥100 visitor tax when entering the island. Airport bus, JR, ferry and tax total ¥2,220 one way. The bus ticket does not cover them all; do not mix different ferry operators' timetables.
At Miyajima · 宮島, check the final walk or transfer to your hotel. Confirm late check-in and any hotel pickup, especially with bags. JR Miyajimaguchi → ferry terminal ↗
Check the last airport buses and onward city connections separately
| Airport departure direction | Last departure → arrival | Remaining moves |

| No. 1 → Bus Center | 21:50→22:45 | 3rd floor → move to ground and accommodation |
The airport informs you that bus departure times may change depending on aircraft arrival status, but this does not mean that you will have to wait for all delayed flights or that you will be guaranteed the last seat. Please judge by the time you arrive at the boarding point after completing immigration, baggage, and customs, not the landing time. Also check the terms of use and refund of tickets already purchased at the place of purchase.
When going from Hiroshima Station towards Kamiyacho and Atomic Bomb Dome
The Hiroden Station departure table (revised on March 28, 2026) shows the last stop at 22:33 for Line 6 bound for Eba and 23:09 for Line 2 bound for Hatsukaichi on all weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Line 2 23:09 does not go to Miyajimaguchi. Even if you pass through the Atomic Bomb Dome/Kamiyacho section, you must check the destination stop and notices for the day's operation. You cannot take the 22:33 train from the last airport bus, arriving at 22:45. Allow time to collect luggage at the north-side bus arrival and reach the second-floor tram platforms.
How to get to Miyajima Island accommodation on the same day
JR Ferry's normal operation schedule is Miyajimaguchi → Island, last stop at 22:42, Island → Miyajimaguchi, last stop at 22:14. There is a separate table for peak season and year-end and New Year holidays, so please check the operation calendar for your travel date. The final airport bus reaches the city at 22:45, after the 22:42 island-bound ferry has already departed. These services cannot connect. Even if the last JR train is late, it doesn't mean you can get to the island. Regular ferry timetable
In the JR official timetable on October 5, 2026, the last train passing Hiroshima → Miyajimaguchi will depart at 00:04 the next day, and Miyajimaguchi time is 00:31. But you have to go much earlier to catch the last boat. The JR train departing at 22:00 in the same table is marked as 22:27 at Miyajimaguchi, and the JR train departing at 22:20 on the same table is marked as 22:47, which is already past the last departure time. The 22:00 train does not guarantee a ferry connection as you only have 15 minutes to walk from the station to the terminal, purchase tickets, and board. Check the timetable for your travel date again, and choose the train ahead if you have a lot of luggage or are traveling for the first time. JR official timetable for October 5, 2026
The last train to Miyajimaguchi on Line 2 is currently at 22:31 on the Hiroshima Station departure schedule, but if it departs at that time, it will not be able to connect to the 22:42 ferry. The last train or tram and the last ferry to the island must be judged separately.
If you are considering the last bus via Shiraichi
The last airport-to-Shiraichi bus in Geiyo's current timetable is 21:50 → 22:03. Check the JR connection for your travel date. The airport connection table shows an example of transferring from this bus to a train at 22:11 and arriving in Hiroshima at 22:56, but connection is not guaranteed in case of flight, bus, or train delays.
If the airport bus has finished, please inquire about dispatch at the official taxi stand number 5 outside the first floor or at the reservation office. Tell your hotel you will arrive late, and show the driver its exact Japanese address. Once you arrive in the city center, check the remaining walking distance and your hotel's check-in and entrance-access hours. If there is a delay due to heavy rain, fog, or traffic control, check the airport traffic status, JR service notices, Hiroden service notices, and highway control information. Taxis and rental cars: check the full cost
The taxi stand is stop 5 outside the first-floor arrivals area. The reserved flat rate is not automatically applied to regular metered taxis. Before boarding, check the vehicle's luggage capacity, tolls and any late-night charges.
Daiichi Kotsu's official reservation flat rate table is 16,000 yen for Airport → Higashi Ward, 18,000 yen for Minami Ward, and 17,000 yen for Naka Ward. Toll road costs are separate, and the reserved flat-rate fare remains the same both late at night and early in the morning. The north of the station is Higashi Ward, the south of the station is Minami Ward, and the area around the Bus Center and Atomic Bomb Dome is Naka Ward, but you must check the actual accommodation address and applicable area with the reservation office. Conditions vary depending on transit point, vehicle type, and availability. This operator's booked fares do not apply to every taxi at the airport stand. Daiichi Kotsu Official Reservation Flat Rate Table
The rental car counter has been moved to RENT-A-Car.Port のりんちゃい instead of the previous 1st floor lobby. According to the airport's official handover information, it is about a 3-minute walk past the pedestrian bridge connecting the second floor of the terminal. Take the elevator in the arrival hall to the 2nd floor and find the counter of the company you reserved. In case of international flight delays, check with the company for pick-up deadline, license/payment documents, and luggage space for each vehicle type. Parking and toll fees for city accommodation are calculated separately from vehicle fees. Airport official handover information

Getting around Hiroshima Airport, Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get from Hiroshima Airport to the city?
For Hiroshima Station hotels, take a limousine from stop 2 to the north-side Shinkansen Exit. For Kamiyacho or Bus Center hotels, use stop 1 for the usual Bus Center route. Adult fares are ¥1,500 either way; rides take about 50 minutes to the station or 55 minutes to the Bus Center via Nakasuji. Add arrival formalities and waiting.
Should I choose Hiroshima Station or Hiroshima Bus Center?
The station bus arrives at the north-side Shinkansen Exit. The Bus Center is on Sogo Hiroshima's third floor, convenient for Kamiyacho and the Atomic Bomb Dome/Peace Memorial Park area. The 09:30, 13:05 and 18:15 Bus Center departures run via Hiroshima Station and use airport stop 2 instead of the usual stop 1.
Can I take a train directly from the airport?
No station is inside the terminal. Take Geiyo Bus from stop 4 to Shiraichi for ¥490, then a JR Sanyo Main Line regular train toward Hiroshima for ¥860: ¥1,350 total. Buy bus and train tickets separately. Rides take about 13–14 and 45–48 minutes, plus transfers and waiting, so this is not always faster than a direct bus.
Do I need to reserve the airport bus?
General station- and Bus Center-bound limousine seats are unreserved. If full, check the next departure. A digital ticket does not reserve a seat. Wheelchair-accessible seats require separate advance telephone reservations. The Miyajimaguchi shared taxi is a different service with online booking requirements.
How do I reach the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park?
From the Bus Center's third floor, reach street level and walk southwest to the Dome, about five minutes under the city's guidance, plus elevators and bags. Cross Motoyasu Bridge to enter the park's northeast side. From Hiroshima Station, take a suitable route 2 or 6 tram from the second-floor platforms to Genbaku-dome-mae and walk.
How do I reach Miyajima?
Take the airport bus to Hiroshima Station, JR Sanyo Main Line toward Iwakuni to Miyajimaguchi, walk to the terminal and take the ferry to Miyajima. The adult total using JR Miyajima Ferry is ¥1,500 bus + ¥420 train + ¥200 ferry + ¥100 visitor tax = ¥2,220. Transfers and waits are additional. A reserved shared taxi to Miyajimaguchi is a daytime alternative.
What if I miss the last airport bus?
The October 1–24, 2026 timetable lists last airport departures at 21:55 for Hiroshima Station and 21:50 for the Bus Center. Flight delays may adjust departures, but boarding is not guaranteed. If buses have finished, ask at first-floor taxi stand 5 or your reserved-car provider and contact your hotel. The last city arrival is too late to connect with the last Miyajima ferry.
