If you go to the port to take a ship to a remote island, use the Karry Kanko direct bus No. 55. If you are going to city centre accommodation or Euglena Mall, check out the Azuma Bus stop number 4. Route 10 serves ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort and ART HOTEL Ishigakijima, but operating hours are limited. If you arrive after the bus stops, check if you can take a taxi to your hotel.

What are the differences in times and fares between direct buses and regular buses?

Times are based on after boarding the bus. Immigration inspection, baggage pickup, waiting for the bus, and walking after getting off must be arranged separately. The schedule may be delayed depending on road conditions and full capacity.

Even if you see number 14 on the airport's regular route list or old timetables, do not select it as your current service. No. 4 enters the city via Hirae · 平得, Ohama · 大浜, Shiraho · 白保. Don't confuse your destination with the route heading north from the airport.

How do I prepare payment and luggage?

Both companies provide cash and credit cards that accept contactless payments. Transportation cards such as Suica and PASMO cannot be used. Karry Kanko requires prepayment when boarding, and QR payment is not possible. Azuma Bus' cash fare box does not provide change, so prepare change in advance or use the currency exchange machine on the bus.

Regular route buses do not have a seat reservation system. The Karry Kanko online ticket does not secure seats, and if the bus is full, you will need to wait for the next bus. If there are many large suitcases, people in your group may not be able to travel on the same bus. From the international arrival hall to the Ishigaki Airport bus stop

Check the actual arrival terminal on your ticket, and for international flights, go to the arrival hall on the 1st floor after completing immigration, customs, and baggage pickup.
Outside the international terminal, go right and head toward the domestic terminal. The bus stop for the city is located on the domestic side, not right in front of the international arrivals hall.
Coming out of the central domestic entrance, buses are on the left and taxis are on the right. You don't have to cross to the regular car park to catch the bus.
Distinguish between Azuma Bus A·B and Karry Kanko C. Azuma Bus also has routes in the opposite direction, so check not only the route number but also the destination of ‘石垣港離島ターミナル / バスターミナル’ before boarding.

If you are arriving on a domestic flight, after receiving your baggage on the 1st floor, go out through the central entrance and go to the bus area on the left. There is no need to go upstairs to the departure hall.

Where should I get off to get to my accommodation in the city and Euglena Mall?

City centre/Misakicho accommodation

If you take Azuma Bus No. 4 to Bus Terminal, it is about a 4-minute walk or 280m to Ishigaki City Public Market · 石垣市公設市場 in the mall. At the stop, select Okawa Public Market (大川208) as your destination and enter the mall. Get off at No. 4 ‘Museum-mae (博物館前)’ and it will take you to the market in about 4 minutes and 300m.

Karry Kanko No. 55 does not stop in front of the mall. Get off at the remote island terminal and take the city centre walking route to the public market for about 9 minutes or 650m. After arriving at the port, go to the ticket counter and boarding area.

Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal · ユーグレナ石垣港離島ターミナル is located at 1 Misakicho. Not to be confused with the large cruise ship terminals.

Arrival hall → Domestic Terminal C → Karry Kankoism No. 55 → Get off at the remote island terminal bus stop. You can also use Azuma Bus numbers 4 and 10 that stop at the port.
From the bus stop, go into the passenger terminal building and look for information at the counter of the shipping company you made a reservation at or for E-ticket information. Once you get off the bus, ticketing and boarding do not end.
Compare the reservation number, boarding route, and port of arrival, and check whether the ticket requires counter ticketing or a ticket for direct boarding using QR.
Go to the pier/boarding area indicated on the day and follow the staff’s boarding instructions. Do not apply a fixed dock number to all ships.

If you skip the port, like late route 4 buses to the city, you will have to travel the last leg from the bus terminal to the remote island terminal. Departures from Airport No. 10 are at 8:45, 11:45, 13:45, 14:15, and 15:45, and this is not a route that continues to have evening hotel stops. Intermediate hotel rates vary by disembarkation section, so check the fare before boarding. Art Hotel's official information indicates that the bus stop is in front of the entrance. To connect from Ishigaki Airport to Taketomi Island and Iriomote Island

Airport → bus or taxi → remote island terminal → ticketing/boarding → destination port. Bus and boat are different forms of transport and do not guarantee a connecting flight or boarding.

Taketomi Island · 竹富島

Check the ships bound for Taketomi Port · 竹富港 from Ishigaki Port. After landing on the island, transportation to the village and accommodation is separate. If you have booked a village tour or activity, you must also check whether the meeting point is the port or the travel agency counter.

Iriomote Island · 西表島

Uehara Port · 上原港 and Ohara Port · 大原港 are different destinations. Check the pick-up port for your accommodation/tour. Even if the ferry to Uehara is cancelled, it does not mean that you will automatically be able to use the ferry and land transfers to Ohara.

Anei Tours comes to the ticket window about 30 minutes before departure, and even if you have made a reservation, you are advised to complete the purchase of boarding tickets at least 15 minutes before departure. Yaeyama Scenic Ferry advises you to purchase tickets 30 minutes in advance and go to the pier 15 minutes before boarding begins.

There are separate procedures for online E-tickets or tours, so information on the purchased ticket takes priority. Do not apply this number as a common cutoff for all shipping lines and all routes.

If you miss the boat, check with the shipping company about the next service seat and change/refund conditions, and inform your accommodation/tour of the delay in arrival and change of pick-up. If you have reached the last boat of the day, you will need to make separate arrangements for accommodation at Ishigaki Island and travel the next day. Island accommodation reservations will not be automatically cancelled or changed to Ishigaki accommodation.

Currently, there is no separate distinction between weekdays and weekends for these three routes in the bulletin board. Check again for notices of temporary suspension or change in operation dates. Even if the landing time is earlier than the last departure, boarding is not guaranteed because baggage, immigration, and stop transfers must be completed.

When the bus is over, go to the official taxi stand.

As you exit the central entrance on the 1st floor of the domestic terminal, use the official taxi area on the right. The official airport ticket provides a reference value of approximately 25 minutes and 3,500 yen to the remote island terminal.

It is not a fixed fee and varies depending on the actual meter rate, driving route, congestion, surcharge, and reserved vehicle conditions. The Taxi Association's maximum fare list for regular vehicles in isolated islands is 500 yen for the first 1.136 km, 100 yen for every 463 m thereafter, and 100 yen for every 2 minutes and 50 seconds below 10 km/h. If you arrive late or have a lot of luggage, check the distance to walk from the stop to your accommodation and check-in deadlines. Save the accommodation address and reservation number on your phone, and compare the ride to the accommodation instead of a long walk.

Hire cars: allow time for the company shuttle and collection

It varies from company to company. Official airport information distinguishes between a hire car pickup area in the general car park and a hotel pickup area next to the car park. Move to the right outside the international terminal entrance, in front of the domestic terminal central entrance, and use the crosswalk and boarding area designated by the reservation company.

Take the free shuttle from the airport to Ishigakijima Rent-a-Car Station · 石垣島レンタカーステーション and pick up the car at the OTS counter on the right end of the building. Don't expect to receive your vehicle straight from the terminal. The shuttle interval for OTS information is 15 to 20 minutes, and business office hours are 08:00 to 19:00.

Do not apply this to other companies.

If there is a delay, please contact the OTS sales office at 0980-84-4323 with your flight number and expected arrival time and check for shuttle, after-closing pickup, reservation maintenance, and next-day pickup. Even if a flight arrives, it cannot be assumed that buses or ships will operate normally. Airlines must check arrival status by flight number, airports must check facility and access information, buses must check service suspension notices, and shipping companies must check operation status by route. Don't judge whether a particular ship will be cancelled based on the weather forecast alone.

Where can I catch a bus from the international arrival hall to the city?

After completing immigration inspection and baggage pickup, exit through the international terminal on the 1st floor and move towards the domestic terminal on the right. The bus stop is on the left as you exit the central domestic entrance. Please distinguish between Azuma Bus A, B and Karry Kanko C on the on-site signs and check whether they are bound for the city or remote island terminal.

What is the difference between a bus that goes directly to the port and a regular bus?

Karry Kanko No. 55 goes directly between the airport and the remote island terminal and the ride time is about 30 minutes. Azuma Bus No. 4 passes through the city stop, and Bus No. 10 passes through the ANA InterContinental and Art Hotel. Route 4 buses departing the airport at 19:30 or later will not stop at the port stop. Direct Azuma Bus No. 14 will cease operation from October 1, 2026.

Where should I get off to get to Euglena Mall?

If you get off the Azuma Bus at Bus Terminal, it is about a 4-minute walk (280m) to the public market inside Euglena Mall, according to official information. Stop number 4 in front of the museum is also about a 4-minute, 300m walk to the public market. Can I take a boat to Taketomi Island right after getting off the plane?

Landing time alone does not guarantee that you will be able to board the ship. You must add the time required for immigration, baggage claim, waiting and boarding the bus, ticketing in the terminal, and travel time to the boarding area. Airline tickets and boats are booked and operated separately. Check the same-day timetable of the shipping company you use and the procedures for each ticket type.

Which port should I go to when I go to Iriomote Island?

You can take a boat from the Ishigaki Port remote island terminal, but the arrival ports on Iriomote Island are divided into Uehara Port and Ohara Port. First, check the port designated by your accommodation/tour. When a ferry to Uehara Port is cancelled, you must check separately with the shipping company and reservation company to see if changing to another port or land transfer is provided.

How do I get to city centre if I arrive late at night?

Based on airport departure, the last bus of Karry Kanko No. 55 is at 19:05, and the last bus of Azuma Bus No. 4 to city centre Bus Terminal is at 21:45. The last departure number 4 does not stop at the port stop. You must arrive at the platform before the departure time indicated on your ticket, as it may be full. Once the bus has finished, use the official taxi stand to the right of the domestic main entrance or pick up from your confirmed accommodation in advance.

What do I do if I miss my booked boat or hire car due to a flight delay?

Changing flights does not automatically change boat, hire car, or accommodation reservations. Check the next service's seats and change/refund conditions with the shipping company, and check-in/meeting times and alternative ports with the accommodation/tour. Provide your flight number and expected arrival time to the hire car office and ask if you can pick it up after business closes. If you miss the last boat, you will need to make separate arrangements for accommodation on Ishigaki Island and travel for the next day.
