Azuma Bus No. 14 direct service to port is suspended from 1 October 2026. Even if you see number 14 on the airport's regular route list or old timetables, do not select it as your current service. The source check used route 4’s March 2026 table and route 10’s July 2026 table.

No. 4 enters the city via Hirae · 平得, Ohama · 大浜, Shiraho · 白保. Don't confuse your destination with the route heading north from the airport.

How do I prepare payment and luggage?

Both operators accept cash and supported contactless payment cards. Transport IC cards such as Suica and PASMO cannot be used. Karry Kanko requires prepayment when boarding, and QR payment is not possible. Azuma Bus' cash fare box does not provide change, so prepare change in advance or use the currency exchange machine on the bus.

Regular route buses do not have a seat reservation system. The Karry Kanko online ticket does not secure seats, and if the bus is full, wait for the next departure. If there are many large suitcases, your group may not be able to board the same bus. If you are bringing large equipment or multiple pieces of luggage, check the baggage requirements. From the international arrival hall to the Ishigaki Airport bus stop

Check your arrival terminal. After international immigration, baggage collection and customs, enter the 1F arrivals hall.
Outside the international terminal entrance turn right towards the domestic terminal. The bus stop for the city is located on the domestic side, not right in front of the international arrivals hall.
Based on the direction leading out of the central entrance of domestic flights Bus on the left, taxi on the right. You don't have to cross to the regular parking lot to catch the bus.
Distinguish between Azuma Bus A·B and Karry Kanko C. Azuma Bus also has routes in the opposite direction, so check not only the route number but also the destination of ‘石垣港離島ターミナル / バスターミナル, the ferry terminal or city bus terminal’ before boarding.

If you are arriving on a domestic flight, after receiving your baggage on the 1st floor, go out through the central entrance and go to the bus area on the left. There is no need to go upstairs to the departure hall.

If you take Azuma Bus No. 4 to Bus Terminal, it is about a 4-minute walk or 280m to Ishigaki Public Market · 石垣市公設市場 in the mall. At the stop, select the public market at 208 Okawa, 大川208 as your destination and enter the mall. Route 4’s Hakubutsukan-mae · 博物館前 stop is another option, about 300 m or four minutes from the market.

Karry Kanko No. 55 does not stop in front of the mall. Get off at the ferry terminal and take the city-centre walking route to the public market for about 9 minutes or 650m. From the ferry-terminal bus stop to your sailing

Ishigaki Port Ferry Terminal · ユーグレナ石垣港離島ターミナル is located at 1 Misakicho. Not to be confused with the large cruise ship terminals.

Arrival hall → Domestic Terminal C → Karry Kanko No. 55 → Get off at the ferry terminal bus stop. You can also use Azuma Bus numbers 4 and 10 that stop at the port.
At the bus stop go inside the passenger terminal building to find the ticket window or E-ticket information for the ferry operator you booked with. Getting off the bus still leaves ticketing and boarding procedures.
Compare the reservation number, boarding route, and port of arrival, and check whether the ticket requires ticketing at the counter or whether it is a ticket for direct boarding using QR.
Go to the pier/boarding area indicated on the day and follow the staff’s boarding instructions. Do not apply a fixed dock number to all ferries.

Hotel stops outside the city centre

ART HOTEL Ishigakijima · アートホテル石垣島

Airport A/B area → Azuma Bus No. 10 → ‘Art Hotel Ishigakijima’ stop → Go to the hotel entrance. The timetable from the airport to the stop is approximately 31 minutes.

Airport Areas A and B → Azuma Bus No. 10 → ‘ANA Intercontinental’ stop → Go to the entrance of the building you reserved. It takes about 21 minutes to get to the stop, and additional time is required to get to your room within the spacious resort.

Departures from Airport No. 10 are at 8:45, 11:45, 13:45, 14:15, and 15:45, and this is not a route that continues to have evening hotel stops. Intermediate hotel rates vary by disembarkation section, so check the fare before boarding. Art Hotel’s official access guide states that the stop is outside the entrance. ANA guests can check the hotel’s official airport shuttle for operating dates, reservations and guest eligibility.

Fusaki Beach Resort Hotel & Villas · フサキビーチリゾートホテル＆ヴィラズ on the west coast is not served by route 10. The hotel’s airport-shuttle booking conditions can be compared with a taxi. Official airport taxi estimates vary: about 20 minutes for ANA, about 25 minutes for Art Hotel, and about 30 minutes for Fusaki. Airport buses do not go directly to all hotels.

Connecting to Taketomi and Iriomote ferries

Airport → Bus or Taxi → Ferry Terminal → Ticketing/Boarding → Destination Port Bus and ferry are separate services; neither ticket guarantees the connection.

Taketomi Island · 竹富島

Check the ferries bound for Taketomi Port · 竹富港 from Ishigaki Port. After landing on the island, transportation to the village and accommodation is separate. If you have booked a village tour or water-buffalo cart experience, you must also check whether the meeting point is the port or the travel agency counter.

Iriomote Island · 西表島

Uehara Port · 上原港 and Ohara Port · 大原港 are different destinations. Check the pick-up port for your accommodation/tour. Even if the ferry service to Uehara is cancelled, it does not mean that you will automatically be able to use the ferry and land transfers to Ohara.

Allow time between landing and ferry departure

Anei Kanko advises arriving at its ticket counter about 30 minutes before departure and completing ticket purchase at least 15 minutes before departure, even with a reservation. Yaeyama Kanko Ferry advises you to purchase tickets 30 minutes in advance and reach the pier 15 minutes before departure.

There are separate procedures for online E-tickets or tours, so information on the purchased ticket takes priority. Do not apply this number as a common cutoff for all shipping lines and all routes.

If you miss the boat, check with the ferry operator about the next sailing’s availability and change/refund conditions, and inform your accommodation/tour of the delayed arrival and change of pick-up. If you miss the last ferry of the day, you will need to make separate arrangements for accommodation at Ishigaki Island and travel the next day. Island accommodation reservations will not be automatically cancelled or changed to Ishigaki accommodation.

The published tables show the same departures for weekdays and weekends on these three routes. Recheck temporary suspensions and date changes. Even if you land before the last bus departs, boarding is not guaranteed because baggage, immigration, and stop transfers must be completed.

After the last bus: official taxis

As you exit the central entrance on the 1st floor of the domestic terminal, use the official taxi area on the right. The airport lists about 25 minutes and JPY 3,500 to the ferry terminal as reference estimates, not a guaranteed fare.

It is not a fixed fee and varies depending on the actual meter rate, driving route, congestion, surcharge, and reserved vehicle conditions. Taxi Association maximum fare table for remote islands provides 500 yen for the first 1.136 km, 100 yen for every 463 m thereafter, and 100 yen for every 2 minutes and 50 seconds below 10 km/h. There is a 20% late-night and early-morning surcharge between 22:00 and 05:00. Please check the approved fare for the actual vehicle. Do not mix with the main island's tariff.

For reservations for late arrival, please first check with the company for estimated fees, additional fees, payment method, vehicle type, and waiting conditions in case of flight delay.

If you arrive late or have a lot of luggage, check the distance to walk from the bus stop to your accommodation and check-in deadlines. Save the accommodation address and reservation number on your phone, and compare the ride to the accommodation instead of a long walk.

Rental cars: collection is at the office

It varies from company to company. Official airport information distinguishes between a rental car pickup area in the general parking lot and a hotel pickup area next to the parking lot. Move to the right outside the international terminal entrance, in front of the domestic terminal central entrance, and use the crosswalk and boarding area designated by the reservation company.

Take the free shuttle from the airport to Ishigakijima Rent-a-Car Station · 石垣島レンタカーステーション and pick up the car at the OTS counter on the right end of the building. Don't expect to receive your vehicle straight from the terminal. The shuttle interval for OTS information is 15 to 20 minutes, and business office hours are 08:00 to 19:00.

Do not apply this to other companies.

If your flight is delayed, contact OTS on 0980-84-4323 with your flight number and expected arrival. Ask about shuttle availability, collection after closing, keeping the booking or collecting the next day. Confirm Japan-valid driving documents, required originals, insurance/excess, non-operation charges and return conditions with your rental company.

Check each operator during typhoons and delays

Even if a flight arrives, it cannot be guaranteed that buses or ferries will operate normally. Airlines must check arrival status by flight number, airports must check facility and access information, buses must check service suspension notices, and ferry operators must check operation status by route. Don't judge whether a particular ship will be cancelled based on the weather forecast alone.

Airport transfer tickets, boat tickets, rental cars, and island sightseeing tours are different products. Just buying a boat/tour does not include transportation from the airport to the port.

Where do I catch a city bus after an international arrival?

After immigration, baggage collection and customs, leave the international terminal on 1F and turn right towards the domestic terminal. The buses are on the left when exiting the domestic central entrance. Check Azuma Bus areas A/B and Karry Kanko C, and confirm the city or ferry-terminal destination.

How does the direct ferry-terminal bus differ from routes 4 and 10?

Karry Kanko route 55 runs directly to the ferry terminal in about 30 minutes. Azuma Bus route 4 serves city stops; route 10 serves ANA InterContinental and Art Hotel. Route 4 departures at 19:30 or later bypass the port. Direct Azuma Bus route 14 has been suspended since 1 October 2026.

Which stop is convenient for Euglena Mall?

From Ishigaki Bus Terminal, the public market inside the mall is about 280 m or four minutes on foot. Route 4’s Hakubutsukan-mae stop is about 300 m or four minutes away. From Karry Kanko’s ferry-terminal stop, allow about 650 m or nine minutes. Your chosen shop may have a different entrance.

Can I catch a Taketomi ferry immediately after landing?

Landing time alone does not guarantee the connection. Allow immigration, bags, the domestic-terminal walk, bus waiting and travel, terminal ticketing and the pier walk. Flights and ferries are separate bookings. Check the ferry operator’s same-day timetable and your ticket’s boarding procedure.

Which port should I choose for Iriomote?

Ferries leave Ishigaki’s island-ferry terminal, but Uehara and Ohara are different Iriomote ports. Check the port required by your hotel or tour. If Uehara sailings are cancelled, ask the operator and booking provider about changing ports and land transfers; these are not automatic.

How can I reach my hotel after a late arrival?

The last airport departure on Karry Kanko route 55 is 19:05. Azuma Bus route 4’s last city-terminal departure is 21:45, arriving 22:17 and bypassing the port. Be ready at the stop; seats are not guaranteed. Afterwards, enquire at the official taxi rank to the right of the domestic central entrance or use a confirmed booked pickup.

What if a flight delay makes me miss a ferry or rental-car collection?

Contact the ferry operator about the next sailing and changes/refunds, and your hotel or tour about check-in and pickup. Give the rental office your flight number and expected arrival; ask about collection after closing or the next day. Missing the last ferry requires separate accommodation on Ishigaki and travel the following day. Flight changes do not automatically change other bookings.
