Admission

Worship visits to the grounds are free. Daruma painting costs JPY 1,500 for 12 cm or JPY 2,000 for 15 cm. Separate prayers, souvenirs and other purchases are excluded.

Opening hours

The office and Daruma Hall open from 9 am to 5 pm. Workshop registration is 10 am–3.30 pm and reserved start times are 10 am–3 pm. The workshop closes at 4 pm. Prayer registration and event-day hours follow separate notices.

Paint your own daruma

Choose a 12 cm or 15 cm daruma to paint. The activity takes about 30 minutes; allow separate waiting time.

How to get to Shorinzan Darumaji

Take Gururin Shorinzan route 1 from Takasaki Station west-exit bus stop 4 to Shorinzan-iriguchi. Walk about five minutes to the temple. For the upper workshop, climb around 200 more steps beyond the Somon Gate.

Before you visit

Stairs to the workshop

Walk about five minutes from Shorinzan-iriguchi to the temple, then climb around 200 more steps beyond the Somon Gate to the upper workshop. Allow time for the climb and any workshop wait.

Worship and workshop registration have different hours

The Daruma Hall opens from 9 am to 5 pm. Workshop registration is 10 am–3.30 pm, with closing at 4 pm. Reserved start times are 10 am–3 pm. Snow or typhoons may stop activities.
