Individual paid admission costs JPY 400 for adults and JPY 200 for primary and junior high school students.
Opening hours
Visits start at 9 am. From 1 March to 23 November, Kitain closes at 4.30 pm on weekdays and 4.50 pm on Sundays and public holidays. From 24 November to the end of February, Kitain closes at 4 pm on weekdays and 4.20 pm on Sundays and public holidays. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing. Check date-specific temple guidance for Saturdays or particular event dates.

Kitain is about 15 minutes on foot from Hon-Kawagoe Station or 20 minutes from Kawagoe Station.

Before you visit
Check last admission before closing time
Paid admission finishes 30 minutes before closing. Arrive well before that deadline to see both the buildings and Rakan statues.
Event-period visiting restrictions
Paid visits close from 25 December to 8 January, from the afternoon of 2 February through 3 February, and from 2 to 4 April. Temple events may add closure dates.
Use diversions during gate restoration
A notice updated in June 2026 schedules gate restoration until around September 2027. Follow gate restrictions and on-site visiting routes during the work.
