Admission

Permanent-exhibition admission is JPY 700 for adults living outside Matsue, with junior high school students and younger free from 1 July 2026. Adult groups of 20 or more pay JPY 560 per person, and Matsue residents pay JPY 350. Special exhibition fees vary. The adult combined ticket for Matsue Castle keep and the history museum's permanent exhibition is JPY 1,520, valid for 10 days from first use. Separate tickets cost JPY 1,200 and JPY 700, totalling JPY 1,900. Special exhibitions are excluded from the combined ticket.

How to get to Matsue History Museum

Take the Lake Line from stand 7 at JR Matsue Station. Get off at the Otemae Horikawa boat boarding point and history museum stop, 大手前堀川遊覧船乗場・歴史館前, then walk about three minutes to the museum. After your visit, return to the same stop and take the loop bus to Matsue Station.
