Cable car and chairlift fares are the same: adults JPY 490 one way or JPY 980 return; children JPY 250 one way or JPY 500 return. Regular Keio trains from Shinjuku to Takaosanguchi cost JPY 430 one way for adults, separately.
Opening hours
The cable car ride takes about six minutes one way; the first service is normally 08:00. September–November last services are 17:45 on weekdays or 18:00 on weekends and public holidays. Inspections, maintenance, poor weather and events may change operations. Check the operating information on the day of your visit.

Views and a walk on the lower slopes
After the cable car, walk to the viewpoint near the station. Enjoy the scenery and nearby paths. Reaching the summit requires further walking on mountain trails.

How to get to Mt. Takao Cable Car
Take a Keio train from Shinjuku towards Takaosanguchi, changing at Kitano depending on the service. Walk about five minutes from Takaosanguchi to Kiyotaki to board the cable car.

Allow time for the descending cable car
Last services vary by season and day, and inspections, weather or events can change operations. Check the last service before walking if returning by cable car. On suspension days, move the mountain visit to another day rather than forcing a walking descent.
From Takaosanguchi to Kiyotaki
Walk about five minutes from Takaosanguchi to the cable car at Kiyotaki. Some Keio services require a change at Kitano. Keio and cable car fares are separate.

Questions about Mt. Takao Cable Car
Does the cable car reach Mt. Takao’s summit?
No. It reaches Takaosan station on the mountainside. A summit visit requires further mountain walking. You can instead enjoy views and a short walk near the station, then return by cable car.
