Admission

Cable car and chairlift fares are the same. Adults pay JPY 490 one way or JPY 980 return; children pay JPY 250 or JPY 500. The adult regular Keio fare from Shinjuku to Takaosanguchi is a separate JPY 430 one way.

The one-way cable car ride takes about 6 minutes; the usual first service is 08:00. From September to November, last services are 17:45 on weekdays or 18:00 on weekends and public holidays. Inspections, maintenance, bad weather and events can change operation; check same-day information.

Mid-slope views and walks

After leaving the cable car, walk to the nearby viewing point for mountain scenery and a short walk. Reaching the summit requires further trail walking from here.

How to get to Mount Takao Cable Car

Take a train towards Takaosanguchi from Keio Shinjuku, changing at Kitano if needed. After getting off, walk about 5 minutes to Kiyotaki to board the cable car.

Allow time for the descending cable car

Last services vary by season and weekday, and inspections, weather or events can change them. Check the last descent before walking. During a suspension, move the mountain visit to another day rather than forcing a walking descent.

Walk about 5 minutes from Takaosanguchi to Kiyotaki for the cable car. Some Keio trains require a Kitano transfer. Keio and cable car fares are separate.
