Five days in Aomori: mountains and park or two lakeside nights
For mountain scenery and park walks, stay three Aomori nights and one Hirosaki night and separate Hakkoda from park days. For a lakeside break, put two Lake Towada nights between one Aomori night at each end. The transport example uses Towada Hotel’s reserved shuttle in Kosaka, Akita; other accommodation has its own conditions.

Five days: Hakkoda and Hirosaki on separate days →5 days / 4 nightsFive days: two Lake Towada nights, then back to Aomori
Spend one night in Aomori, two around Lake Towada and another in Aomori for a lakeside break. The example uses reserved shuttles between Yasumiya and Towada Hotel in Kosaka, Akita. Other lakeside accommodation needs its own access/shuttle arrangements. If you cannot reserve this shuttle or secure other return transport, choose an Aomori/Hirosaki-based plan instead of lakeside nights.

See Nebuta displays, then take a short waterfront walk in good weather. Closing is 19:00 May–August and 18:00 September–April, with last admission 30 minutes earlier. Check official operating notices for temporary closures on your date.

JPY 500 is general admission for the exhibition running 3 October–29 November 2026; ask the museum about other dates. - Yasumiya → Towada Hotel and lakeside accommodation
Rest over a meal near the bus terminus, then take your reserved hotel shuttle. Towada Hotel, used in this example, is on the western shore in Kosaka, Akita, about 15 minutes from Yasumiya by shuttle. Do not plan to walk there. Reserve by about 22:00 the previous night; services do not run without bookings.
Choose lakeside accommodation first and check access from Yasumiya. These shuttle conditions apply only to Towada Hotel. If both directions cannot be reserved, find other transport or choose a different itinerary.
Day 3 · Lake Towada shore, Statue of Maidens and shrine
Stay a second night in the same lakeside accommodation, walking around Yasumiya during the day.
- Towada Hotel → Yasumiya
Hotel-to-Yasumiya shuttles are listed at 08:30, 09:30 and 10:30. Take your booked service for lakeside walks and choose your return service. When booking, ask whether both journeys can be used for walks during consecutive nights.
- Yasumiya → Statue of Maidens and Towada Shrine
The prefectural tourism body gives about 15 minutes from the stop to the statue; the Ministry of the Environment gives about five minutes from central Yasumiya to the shrine. These start from different places, so do not add them as a total walking time. Choose shorter sections during rain or access restrictions.

- Yasumiya → The same Towada Hotel
Have lunch and relax by the lake before your reserved return shuttle. Yasumiya departures are listed at 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00, subject to change. To add cruises or Oirase Stream, separately check operations and return travel compatible with your shuttle.
Spend a second night in the same accommodation. Lakeside walks and separately paid experiences are different choices.
Day 4 · Lake Towada to Aomori
Leave lakeside accommodation and return to Aomori for one night.
- Towada Hotel → Yasumiya
After checkout, take your reserved shuttle to Yasumiya. Its roughly 15-minute reference alone does not guarantee a bus connection; allow alighting, luggage handling and possible delays.
- Yasumiya bus stop → Aomori Station and accommodation
Return on an Aomori Station-bound JR bus chosen from your date’s timetable. Adult one-way fare is JPY 3,480. Spend the final night in Aomori after arrival.
This Yasumiya return plan does not apply to winter routes ending at Sukayu.

Use a reserved shuttle when staying at Towada Hotel on the western shore in Kosaka, Akita. The ride from Yasumiya is about 15 minutes. Contact the hotel by about 22:00 the previous night. No bookings means no service, and times may change; confirm both shuttle directions when booking accommodation.
Can I connect immediately to a Yasumiya bus after the hotel shuttle?
The roughly 15-minute shuttle reference does not guarantee a connection. Allow alighting/delays and match both the hotel shuttle and Aomori bus times for your date.
