Aomori attraction conditions and directions
Choose WA RASSE for Nebuta or Hakkoda Maru for port, railway and ferry history. Give Jomon and art separate days, and walk Hirosaki’s castle gates and moats. For Hakkoda mountains or a Lake Towada stay, choose operating dates and return buses first.

Plan a day of gates and moat walks. Hirosaki Castle’s keep interior has been closed since 24 November 2025 for the time being; distinguish park walks from interior viewing.
- AdmissionFree walking and paid areas differ. Itineraries use free areas; for Honmaru/northern paid areas, check same-day operations and prices before choosing them.

The last service is at 16:20 from March–early November and at 15:40 from mid-November–February. The ride takes about ten minutes. Suspension is scheduled 8–20 November 2026 for inspection and power work; leave mountain visits out then. Check weather suspensions and downward services on the day.

Lake Towada Yasumiya shore
Lake Towada Yasumiya十和田湖休屋
Two Lake Towada nights allow relaxed lakeside walks and time back at accommodation. Towada Hotel on the western shore in Kosaka, Akita, is away from Yasumiya stop; use its reserved shuttle.
- Viewing and access conditionsThe prefectural tourism body gives about 15 minutes from stop to Statue of Maidens; the Ministry of the Environment gives about five minutes from central Yasumiya to the shrine. These have different starting points, so do not call the total walk 20 minutes. Cruises and Oirase Stream walks need separate operational and return checks.
- Bus and hotel travelChoose both JR bus journeys from Aomori towards Lake Towada first. Winter Aomori routes end at Sukayu, without reaching Yasumiya. Towada Hotel is about 15 minutes from Yasumiya by reserved shuttle. Reserve by about 22:00 the previous night; no bookings means no service. Other accommodation does not necessarily have the same shuttle.
- Towada Hotel shuttle timesHotel-to-Yasumiya listed departures: 08:30, 09:30, 10:30. Yasumiya-to-hotel: 15:00, 16:00, 17:00. These are fixed-time reserved shuttles, subject to change without notice. Ask the hotel whether both directions can be used for walks during consecutive nights.
