Admission
General collection admission costs JPY 700, or JPY 400 for university students. Visitors aged 18 and under and high school students enter free. Special-exhibition prices may differ. Aomori-ken viewing from the outdoor passage is free, separate from indoor exhibitions.
Opening hours
The museum opens from 09:30 to 17:00, with last admission at 16:30. Find closure dates on the official calendar.

How to get to Aomori Museum of Art
From municipal stop 6 at Aomori Station, take a Sannai-Maruyama-bound bus to 県立美術館前. The city’s 2026 timetable lists adult one-way JPY 280. Check your departure and stops there. Nebutan-go from east-side Shin-Aomori is another option, with different fares. After alighting, walk along the left pavement and turn right at the entrance sign. The official summer video gives about two minutes to the entrance. From general information on Level 1, take the exhibition lift to Basement 2. Allow ticketing and room access separately; follow official winter guidance in snow.

Before you visit
Outdoor passage hours and stairs
The passage opens 09:45–16:30, with its entrance locked at 16:30. Walking alone takes about 10–15 minutes return, including stairs. In 2026 it opened from 21 April and closes around the start of snowfall. Ask the museum about available routes if stairs are difficult or visiting in snow.
