At Aomori Museum of Art, you can see Yoshitomo Nara's Aomori-ken dog sculpture. When the outdoor connecting passage is open, you can approach the work for free.
You can also visit the museum's collection exhibition afterward. Indoor admission is separate, so plan around the exhibition you want to see.
Visitor information
Admission
Collection exhibition admission is ¥700 for general visitors and ¥400 for college students. Visitors ages 18 and younger and high school students enter free. Special exhibitions may have different prices. Viewing Aomori-ken from the outside connecting passage is free and separate from indoor admission.
Opening hours
The museum opens 9:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with last admission at 4:30 p.m. Check the official calendar for closure dates.

How to get to Aomori Museum of Art
At Aomori Station's municipal bus stop 6, board a Sannai-Maruyama-bound bus and get off at 県立美術館前. The city's 2026 timetable lists adult one-way fare as ¥280. Check departures and intermediate stops for your date. Nebutan-go from Shin-Aomori Station's east side is another option, with a different fare. From the stop, walk along the left sidewalk and turn right at the museum entrance sign. The official summer video lists about two minutes from the stop to the entrance. From the first-floor entrance, pass general information and take the gallery elevator to basement level 2. Allow extra time for ticketing and reaching the galleries; in snow, follow the official winter route.

Visit tips
Outside passage: hours and stairs
The outside passage opens 9:45 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; its entrance is locked at 4:30 p.m. The round-trip walk alone, including stairs, takes about 10–15 minutes. In 2026 it opened April 21 and closes around the start of snowfall. If stairs are difficult for you or you visit during snowy months, ask the museum which routes are available.
