In Beppu, visit Kannawa's five hells on one day and Chinoike and Tatsumaki on the other. For an onsen-town walk, choose one Yufuin night. Omit day-two sightseeing before a morning flight.

Omit today's sightseeing if luggage collection and the Kitahama airport bus leave insufficient check-in time.
Included items: Hells combined ticket JPY 2,400, day-one route 5 return JPY 780, Kitahama airport buses return JPY 3,200; day-two Kamenoi Bus Mini day pass JPY 1,100 for route 26 outward and route 16 return

Yunotsubo Street and Lake Kinrin on separate walks
Choose this for leisurely shopping-street and lakeside walks. Stay one night around Yufuin Station, walking Yunotsubo Street on day one and Lake Kinrin on day two. Fit walks around property meals, pickup and the departure-day airport bus.
Day one: airport, Yufuin accommodation and Yunotsubo Street
Leave luggage at your Yufuin accommodation, then walk Yunotsubo Street. For a late arrival, prioritise accommodation dinner and check-in.
- Oita Airport → Yufuin-Ekimae
Take a Yufuin-Ekimae Bus Center-bound bus from Oita Airport. Adult fare is JPY 2,000 one way. Choose a service you can board after immigration and baggage collection from the official timetable below. Shorten the street walk for a late arrival.

- Yufuin accommodation → Yunotsubo Street
Leave luggage at accommodation around Yufuin Station. If daylight remains, have lunch and browse shops along Yunotsubo Street. Shop hours vary; for a late arrival, shorten the walk and focus on your accommodation meal. Return in time for ryokan check-in, dinner and pickup arrangements.
Check the actual airport–Yufuin service and boarding point, then alight at the bus centre. Leave luggage before walking. For a late arrival, shorten your route and keep accommodation dinner and check-in times.
Day two: Lake Kinrin, bus centre and airport
Walk at Lake Kinrin, then leave for the airport from Yufuin-Ekimae Bus Center.
- Yufuin Station and accommodation → Lake Kinrin
If your property can store luggage after checkout, walk from the station towards Yunotsubo Street and Lake Kinrin. Yufu city's 2023 map lists about 25 minutes from station to lake. Returning the same way gives about 50 minutes of walking alone; shopping, photos, rests and accommodation access take extra time. Shorten the lake walk to fit airport travel. Morning mist is not guaranteed.

Costs outside the subtotal: Accommodation, meals, flights, bathing, private facilities, luggage storage and extra travel between accommodation, Kitahama, stations and bus centres.

Hell bus passes and airport return travel
Do you need both hell admission and a city bus ticket?
The hells combined ticket and bus passes are separate. This itinerary calculates ordinary JPY 780 return fares for day-one route 5, and a JPY 1,100 Mini day pass for day-two route 26 outward and route 16 return. The same day pass is not used across two dates.
Mini coverage is Beppu's hells and Kijima Kogen area. For Yufuin travel, check Wide pass coverage and compare ordinary fares. These bus passes exclude Oita Kotsu airport buses, JR, ropeways and hell admission. No Beppu bus pass is added to the Yufuin-only one-night option B.

Where do airport journeys start in Beppu and Yufuin?
Keep final-day sightseeing short before returning to the airport. From Beppu, use Kitahama's airport-bound boarding point; from Yufuin, use the station-front bus centre. Distinguish Kitahama's airport-bound stop from your arrival stop.
Choose a bus in the dated official timetable with a margin before airline check-in closes. Allow luggage collection and travel to the stop. Confirm storage with your property; reduce or omit final-day sightseeing if no bus fits afterwards.
The checked Yufuin–airport timetable covers 1–24 October 2026. For travel from 25 October, check the new timetable for your date. Airport-bound buses do not guarantee flight check-in connections.
