Admission

Regular individual admission is ¥1,600 for ages 18 and older and ages 15–17; ¥1,300 for ages 12–14; and ¥850 for ages 6–11. High school students and older pay ¥1,900 during April 27–May 7 and July 1–August 31, 2026, or ¥1,350 from December to February. Junior high school students pay ¥1,300 at regular and peak rates or ¥1,050 in the low season; elementary school students pay ¥850 at regular and peak rates or ¥700 in the low season. Check your age or school-year category on the price table for your visit date.

Opening hours

The main entrance accepts visitors 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. from March to November; cave viewing ends at 6:30 p.m. From December to February, entry is 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. and viewing ends at 5:30 p.m. The elevator and Kurotani entrances accept visitors 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with viewing until 5:30 p.m. Open daily.

How to get to Akiyoshi-do Cave

Take a Bocho bus bound for Akiyoshido from bay 2 at Shin-Yamaguchi Station's north bus terminal. Get off at Akiyoshido and walk through the shopping street to the main entrance. Return from the same stop on a Shin-Yamaguchi Station-bound bus. Before leaving, check outward and return services, the last return bus and fares for your date. This bus fare is excluded from the Yamaguchi guide's itinerary costs.

Visiting tips

Footwear and your exit

The cave floor can be slippery and has steps; wear comfortable shoes with good grip. Allow about 90 minutes to return through the main entrance, plus lunch and walking time to the bus stop. If you leave through another exit, check your route back to the stop first.

You can return through the main entrance or use another exit. If returning by bus, check the route and time from your chosen exit to the Akiyoshido stop.
