Visiting tips

Suspended 20 October–8 November 2026

The ropeway closes for maintenance during this period. The summit observation deck itself is listed as open 10:00–21:00; ropeway suspension does not mean the whole mountain is closed. The Hokkaido guide’s two- and three-day Hakodate itineraries and five-day Sapporo–Hakodate plan exclude alternative summit transport. Remove the ropeway and summit visits when following them during this period.

An uphill walk to the boarding station

The lower station is about 10 minutes uphill from Jujigai tram stop. Leave time for a slower pace or breaks. If the hill is difficult, check a lower-station bus or taxi available on your visit date separately.
