What to see at Chūson-ji
Visit Konjikido and Sankozo together
Chūson-ji’s regular admission ticket includes Konjikido, Sankozo, Kyozo and the former protective hall. It covers both buildings and collection exhibits, with different access from the combined ticket for the special opening of normally hidden Buddhist statues.
How to get to Chūson-ji
Take the seasonal Runrun loop bus from outside Hiraizumi Station to the Chūson-ji stop, then climb the Tsukimizaka approach. Each adult ride costs JPY 200; two rides total JPY 400, less than the JPY 550 day pass. Check the operator’s timetable for the season, operating days and return services. When Runrun is not running, look up the regular Ichinoseki–Hiraizumi Line (一関平泉線), whose fares and accepted tickets differ. Do not treat the stated 850 m from car park 1 to the main hall as the distance from the bus stop to Konjikido.

Visiting tips
The temple approach is uphill
After getting off the bus, climb the Tsukimizaka approach. Allow time to walk down after your visit. If walking is difficult, ask the facility about access in advance. The temple’s distance of about 850 m from car park 1 to the main hall is not the distance from the bus stop to Konjikido.
Questions about Chūson-ji
Do I still have to walk uphill if I take a bus to Chūson-ji?
Yes. You must climb the Tsukimizaka approach after getting off the bus. Leave enough time before your return bus to visit Konjikido and the exhibits and walk back down.
