At Ise Jingu's Geku, follow the approach to the main sanctuary, then explore the surrounding neighbourhood on your way back. Its walking access from Iseshi Station makes it a convenient shrine visit after arrival.

Admission
Ordinary shrine visits are free. Prayer services, shrine items and museum admission cost extra.
Opening hours
Shrine visit hours are 05:00–18:00 in January–April and September, 05:00–19:00 in May–August, and 05:00–17:00 in October–December.

Explore the approach after visiting Geku
After your shrine visit, choose a place to eat along the approach or near Iseshi Station. The Geku neighbourhood has meal options where you can look for local food such as Ise udon.

How to get to Geku (Toyouke-daijingu)
Leave Iseshi Station through the JR-side exit and walk approximately five minutes to Geku's entrance. Walk approximately 10 more minutes from the entrance to the main sanctuary. Allow extra time for your shrine visit, other subsidiary shrines and the return to the station.

Allow time for the shrine visit and return
The walk to the main sanctuary excludes time for the shrine visit and other subsidiary shrines. Choose your next train with the walk back to the station in mind.

New Year visits, prayer services and museums
Visit hours may change at New Year. If you travel then, check the shrine visit notice for that year. Prayer reception and museum hours differ from ordinary shrine visit hours.
