Individual admission costs JPY 2,000 for high school age and over or JPY 1,000 for elementary and junior high school students; younger children enter free. Kagoshima resident rates require eligibility checks, so distinguish them from standard visitor rates.

How to get to Kagoshima City Aquarium
Take tram route 2 from Kagoshima-Chuo Station to Suizokukan-guchi, then walk about eight minutes to the aquarium. Return on route 2 towards Kagoshima-Chuo Station. Allow the walk from the stop when planning around last entry.
Visiting tips
Visiting after returning from Sakurajima
Aquarium last entry is 17:00. Plan arrival around ferry waits, boarding, disembarkation and the walk from Sakurajima’s return ferry. For leisurely exhibits, consider a different day from island sightseeing.

December closure and extended opening dates
The aquarium closes for four days from the first Monday in December. Some periods have extended evening aquarium hours; check your date’s notice if you want to use them.

Yes. It is near the Sakurajima ferry pier, so you can visit before or after the island. Coordinate return island buses and ferries with last entry at 17:00. Split the visits across different days if there is too little sightseeing time.
