What to see at Shiroyama Observatory
From the city to Kinko Bay and Sakurajima
From the observatory, see the scenery extending from central Kagoshima across Kinko Bay to Sakurajima. Take in the city and mountain on opposite sides of the bay.
How to get to Shiroyama Observatory
Take City View from East 4 outside Kagoshima-Chuo Station to Shiroyama stop, then follow signs on foot to the observatory. For the nature trail, distinguish entrances such as Tanshoen on the Terukuni Shrine side and Iwasakidani on the Satsuma Gishihi monument side. The full trail is about 2 km.

If you plan to walk the nature trail
The full nature trail is about 2 km, separate from the return walk between the City View stop and observatory. Use signs on site to choose your trail entrance and route.

Returning to the station by City View
City View returns from Shiroyama via Sengan-en and the aquarium to Kagoshima-Chuo Station. Check the next bus after your visit and the stops on the way back.

Must I walk the full trail to reach Shiroyama Observatory?
No. Take City View to Shiroyama stop and visit just the observatory. This differs from the full two-kilometre nature trail; follow signs on site.
