Admission

Exterior viewing of the pagoda and Kozan Park is free. Special interior visits on specified 2026 dates cost ¥1,700 per person for adults and children alike and require reservations.

Opening hours

The park and pagoda exterior can be visited without regular closing days. Goshuin commemorative stamps and the Rurikoji museum are available 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. The tourist information centre in front of Kozan Park opens 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; pagoda illumination runs from sunset to 10:00 p.m. Special interior visits run only on specified dates and time slots.

How to get to Rurikoji Temple's Five-storied Pagoda

Take a local JR Yamaguchi Line train towards Yamaguchi from Shin-Yamaguchi Station and get off at Yamaguchi Station. The ride takes about 25 minutes, followed by about 25 minutes on foot to Rurikoji. Use the official city map to locate the station, Ichinosaka River and Kozan Park. Return along the same walking route to Yamaguchi Station and take a local JR Yamaguchi Line train towards Shin-Yamaguchi. Choose a return train with time for the walk and your next journey after reaching Shin-Yamaguchi. Adult local-train fares are ¥240 one way or ¥480 return, included in guide costs for itineraries using this section. Look up outward and return departures for your date.
