Admission

For senior high school students and older, shrine admission is ¥700, museum admission ¥600 and combined admission ¥1,200. Elementary and junior high school students pay ¥300 for either separate ticket or ¥500 combined. Ropeway fares are additional.

Shrine worship hours are 09:00–17:00, reception until 16:50. The shrine is listed as open year-round. Check separate information for museum visits or special events.

How to get to Kunozan Toshogu Shrine

Take Nihondaira Ropeway from Nihondaira to Kunozan Station, about five minutes each way. After alighting, climb about 80 steps to the shrine buildings. Return down the steps to Kunozan Station and take the ropeway. In the basic timetable, first Nihondaira departure is 09:10 and last Kunozan return is 17:00. Choose both services around visit-date operating notices.

Steps remain after the ropeway

About 80 steps lead from Kunozan Station to the shrine buildings. The roughly five-minute ropeway ride excludes ticketing, queues and stair walking. After visiting, return by the steps to Kunozan Station.

Scheduled ropeway suspension December 1–21, 2026

Nihondaira Ropeway is scheduled to suspend service December 1–21, 2026 for equipment works. You cannot use it to reach the shrine from Nihondaira during that period. Check operator notices if your dates overlap.

Does the shrine ticket include the museum and ropeway?

Museum and ropeway are excluded. For the museum too, buy a separate museum ticket or the shrine/museum combination. Ropeway fares are separate.
