What to see at Meiji Jingu
Follow the forest path to the main shrine
Enter through the South Entrance on the Harajuku side and walk to the main shrine. The station is close to the entrance, but the shrine requires further walking within the grounds. Leave time for the forest path in both directions and your visit.
How to get to Meiji Jingu
Approach the South Entrance from JR Harajuku Station or Meiji-jingumae Station Exit 2. It is about 1 minute from the station to the entrance, then at least another 10 minutes to the main shrine.
Visiting tips
Check closing time for a late-afternoon visit
Gate hours change by month. Before planning a visit after an evening walk in Harajuku, check how late you can enter during your travel month.
If you also want to see the garden and museum
The garden and museum are separate from shrine access. Each charges admission and may have shorter hours than the grounds, so check its own visitor information.
