Kuwana Ishidori Festival

桑名石取祭

Drums and gongs mounted on festival floats fill Kuwana’s streets with different neighbourhood rhythms. Sound is as much a part of this festival as the float decoration.

Floats approach Kuwana Sosha, also called Kasuga Shrine, via the Kyomachi intersection area. Neighborhood departure points and north/south queue arrangements vary by year.

The directions below use one representative location, not every venue entrance or the complete procession route. Use the official venue map for your ticket or programme.

Getting there by train or bus

From Nagoya, take the JR Kansai Main Line or Kintetsu Nagoya Line to Kuwana and walk towards Kuwana Sosha.

Planning your visit

Watch more than one float to compare the rhythms. If loud sound is uncomfortable, choose a viewing spot farther from the musicians.

This is an editorial travel suggestion, not a claim of a personal visit or a guarantee of the programme. When travelling from Canada, use your Japan arrival date to select the festival day.
