Admission
Permanent and temporary exhibitions are free. Special exhibition fees vary, with high school students and younger and those aged 65 and older listed as free. Check your chosen exhibition’s fee and exemptions together. The four-night Ibaraki museum course uses permanent displays and excludes special exhibition fees from its budget.
Opening hours
Open 09:30–16:45, last admission 16:15. Closed Mondays and public holidays, with exceptions for Sunday public holidays or special exhibition periods. Also closed December 29–January 3 and during fumigation or exhibition changes, with possible temporary closures. Check your date’s opening calendar.

How to get to Mito City Museum
At 3-3-20 Omachi, Mito, in the building shared with the central library. Walk from Mito Station north exit following the city map and on-site guidance. Distinguish library reception from the museum entrance. The guide’s museum course walks both ways from Mito Station.
