Permanent and themed displays are free. Special fees vary, with visitors of high school age and younger and those aged 65 and over listed as free; check each exhibition’s rates and eligibility. The five-day museum itinerary uses permanent displays and excludes special-exhibition fees.
Opening hours and closed days
The museum opens from 09:30 to 16:45, with admission until 16:15. It closes on Mondays and public holidays, with exceptions for Sunday holidays and special-exhibition periods. It closes on 29 December–3 January and for fumigation and exhibition changes; temporary closures may apply. Check your date’s calendar.

How to get to Mito City Museum
The museum is at 3-3-20 Omachi, Mito, in the central-library building. Walk from Mito’s north exit using the city map and on-site signs. Distinguish library reception from the museum entrance. The guide’s museum itinerary walks both ways from Mito Station.
