Admission
Permanent and themed exhibitions are free. Special-exhibition charges vary, with free admission listed for senior high-school age and younger and ages 65+. Check your chosen exhibition’s charges and free conditions. The Ibaraki five-day museum plan uses permanent exhibitions and excludes special-exhibition charges from trip costs.
Opening hours
The museum opens from 09:30 to 16:45, with last admission at 16:15. The museum is closed on Mondays and public holidays, with exceptions for Sunday public holidays and special-exhibition periods. It is also closed from 29 December to 3 January and for fumigation or exhibition changes. Temporary closures may occur; check your date’s opening calendar.

How to get to Mito City Museum
The museum is at 3-3-20 Omachi, Mito, in the Central Library’s building. Walk from Mito Station North Exit using the city map and signs. On arrival, distinguish library reception from the museum entrance. On the Ibaraki guide’s museum day, walk to the museum and back from Mito Station.
