Hida Folk Village

飛騨の里

Explore Hida living spaces through houses relocated from elsewhere. This outdoor museum differs from Shirakawa-go’s living village and is an option for gassho-style roofs on a short trip.

  • HoursBasic hours are 08:30–17:00, year-round. Autumn 2026 evening events have separate operations on specific dates.
  • Getting thereFrom Takayama Nohi Bus Center, take the Sarubobo Bus towards Hida-no-Sato and alight at the facility stop. The ride takes about 10 minutes, with waiting and sightseeing additional. Return buses run towards the center. The official leaflet describes direct access after alighting at Hida-no-Sato. Follow entrance signs to the ticket office and allow time to buy tickets.

Shirakawa-go Ogimachi Gassho-style Village

Shirakawa-go Ogimachi白川郷 荻町合掌造り集落

Walk through Shirakawa-go for village scenery with large gassho-style roofs. Residents still live here, so use public paths to view house exteriors. For an interior, pay separate admission to Wada House’s public first and second floors.

  • AdmissionVillage walks and paid house visits are separate. A Wada House visit adds adult admission of 400 yen to transport and admission costs. Other houses, the open-air museum and parking are excluded.

Gifu Park and Mt. Kinka Ropeway

Visit Gifu Park and Mt. Kinka for a park walk and mountain views. Gifu Castle’s keep and museum are closed, so plan for exteriors and viewpoints. Slopes and stairs remain on the mountain.

  • AdmissionGifu Park is free. Ropeway returns cost 1,300 yen for adults (ages 12 and over / junior-high students and older), or 650 yen for children aged four through elementary school. Do not add the castle admission charged before its closure.
  • HoursThe keep has been closed since 19 May 2026 and the museum since 1 April. Gifu City plans reopening in November 2027. Ropeway hours vary seasonally, with maintenance suspensions planned for 1–28 December 2026 and 7 January–16 February 2027.
  • Getting thereAt JR Gifu stands 12 or 13, choose a bus via Nagarabashi stopping at Gifu Park/Gifu Castle, such as N43. Check the date’s timetable and stop display. Walk about three minutes from the stop to the park. The ropeway ride takes about four minutes, excluding queues. Return by a JR Gifu-bound bus from the park stop.
