Two consecutive days

Normally, the pass covers two consecutive days from your start date, and its coupons are valid only during that period. The current digital ticket has a final-day exception: activation on 31 March 2027 gives one day only.

Paper and digital passes use different gates

Insert a paper pass into automatic gates on JR, Sendai Subway and the Sendai Airport Access Line. Show a TOHOKU MaaS digital pass at a staffed gate. Do not assume that the digital screen works at automatic QR gates.

Covered railways

The designated JR routes connect Sendai, Matsushima · 松島, Matsushimakaigan · 松島海岸, Yamadera · 山寺 and Shiroishi · 白石. All Sendai Airport Access Line and Sendai Subway routes are included. Abukuma Express coverage is Tsukinoki · 槻木–Abukuma · あぶくま. This does not cover every railway around Sendai.

Covered buses and exclusions

Loople Sendai and Sendai City buses are included, but the Rakuten Shuttle bus is excluded. Miyagi Kotsu coverage is limited to the designated Sendai Station–Akiu Otaki · 秋保大滝 section.

Takeya Kotsu buses are also excluded. Use the pass only on the named bus operators and covered sections; a bus to the same destination is not automatically included.

Where to buy and the airport’s same-day rule

Within the coverage area, buy from JR ticket offices, reserved-seat machines, travel service centers, major travel agencies or machines at Sendai Airport Station · 仙台空港. Sales normally begin one month before travel, but airport-station machines sell only passes starting on the purchase day. Agencies outside the coverage area sell it with a travel package that visits the area.

Where to collect the coupon booklet

For a JR ticket-office or travel-service-center purchase, collect the booklet at the counter where you buy the pass. For an airport-station-machine purchase, collect it at Sendai Airport Station’s gate office. For a JR reserved-seat-machine or travel-agency purchase within the area, collect it at the Tourist Information Center on Sendai Station’s third floor. For agencies outside the area, collect at that information center or the airport station’s gate office.

Digital purchase, activation and group tickets

Buy the digital pass on a smartphone through TOHOKU MaaS, not at station counters or machines. Sales end on 30 March 2027; use ends on 31 March 2027. Normally activate within 30 days of purchase for two consecutive days. Purchases from 2 March 2027 must start by 31 March; starting that last day gives only one day.

You can buy for up to five adults and children together. All tickets bought together must be used together; traveller numbers cannot be changed and individual tickets cannot be refunded separately.

For digital tickets, show the screen to collect the coupon booklet at Sendai Station’s third-floor Tourist Information Center.

Register your email address and profile in TOHOKU MaaS. For card payment, register a credit card; for Mobile Suica payment, install the Mobile Suica app and register as a member.

Paper and digital refunds

For an unused paper pass still within its validity period, request a refund at its sales location. The fee is JPY 220. After use starts, suspension of only some transport services does not qualify; a complete suspension is an exception.

For a voluntary digital refund, apply before activation and within 30 days of purchase, while TOHOKU MaaS is providing the service. The fee is JPY 220. For credit-card payments, use the purchase history in My Page. For Mobile Suica payments, contact TOHOKU MaaS through its inquiry form.
