Tokyo 1-Day Ticket: JR, subway and bus coverage
Tokyo 1-Day Ticket
The Tokyo 1-Day Ticket covers designated JR local and rapid trains within Tokyo’s 23 wards, plus Tokyo Metro, Toei Subway, the Nippori-Toneri Liner, Tokyo Sakura Tram and eligible Toei buses for one day. Toei late-night and reserved-seat buses are excluded.
When does this ticket suit your itinerary?
Compare it with individual fares if you plan several JR, subway and Toei bus journeys in one day. For an itinerary using only JR, also compare the Tokunai Pass. A day ticket does not necessarily save money if you make only a few journeys.
Prices and child fares
The table shows official JPY prices, separate from the seller’s price and display currency. Adults are aged 12 or over; children are aged 6–11.

One day of validity
Choose the day you will travel and check the valid date printed on your ticket. This is a one-day ticket.
The ticket remains valid after midnight until the last train.
Covered railways
JR coverage is limited to unreserved seats in Ordinary Cars on designated local and rapid trains within Tokyo · 東京’s 23 wards. Tokyo Metro, Toei Subway, the Nippori-Toneri Liner · 日暮里・舎人ライナー and Tokyo Sakura Tram · 東京さくらトラム are included. This is not a nationwide pass covering all railways around Tokyo.
Covered buses and exclusions
Eligible Toei buses are included, but late-night and reserved-seat buses are excluded. Do not assume that buses run by other companies are covered.
Where to buy
Buy from a JR EAST reserved-seat ticket machine within the ticket’s coverage area. The JR TOKYO Wide Pass is a different product with different days and routes.
Date changes and refunds
For a JR-issued ticket, an unused ticket still within its validity can have its start date changed once at a JR sales location’s ticket office. JR cannot change or refund tickets sold by Tokyo Metro or Toei Subway. An unused ticket within its validity may be refunded at a supported JR ticket office for a JPY 220 fee. The product rules exclude refunds for train cancellations and delays. Check the rules for your purchase channel before using the ticket.
JR seats and supplementary tickets
Shinkansen and BRT are excluded. Within the covered JR area, local and rapid Ordinary Car unreserved seats are included; eligible conventional limited expresses, Green Car or reserved seats require the relevant supplementary ticket.
JR boundary stations on the map
The JR map includes Nishi-Ogikubo · 西荻窪, Ukimafunado · 浮間舟渡, Kanamachi · 金町, Koiwa · 小岩, Kasairinkaikoen · 葛西臨海公園 and Kamata · 蒲田 at its edges. A through train beyond the area does not extend the ticket’s coverage.
Choose a paper ticket while checking Suica sales
The general product conditions describe Suica and Mobile Suica, but JR EAST’s 16 March 2026 notice suspended their Tokyo Free ticket sales following incorrect bus and tram deductions. That notice remains linked from the current important-notices page; a restart has not been confirmed for this guide. The notice says paper tickets are unaffected and directs travellers to buy them at a ticket machine.
From purchase to boarding
Choose your stations and bus operators, then compare them with the official coverage map.
At a JR EAST reserved-seat ticket machine within the covered area, choose the Tokyo 1-Day Ticket and your travel date.
Check the adult or child category and the date printed on the ticket. Child tickets are for ages 6–11.
When changing between JR, subway and buses, check that the operator and section are included. Toei late-night and reserved-seat buses require separate fares.
