Fukuoka Airport to Hakata, Tenjin and Nakasu: terminal-by-terminal transport
From international arrivals, a direct bus reaches the east side of Hakata Station. For Tenjin, compare the airport bus with the subway; for Nakasu-Kawabata, use the subway. The international terminal has no direct subway entrance: first take the free shuttle to the domestic terminal. Domestic arrivals can walk down to the connected Fukuoka Airport Station.
Fukuoka Airport · 福岡空港 (FUK) has its subway station at the domestic terminal. This guide follows arrivals→boarding→city stop→hotel. Times are Japan Time (JST) and fares are adult one-way JPY.

International terminal: shuttle from stop 5, then subway
International 1st floor arrival hall → Free connecting bus No. 5 → Domestic connecting bus loading/unloading area → Airport station entrance → Ticket purchase/gates → Airport line → Destination station → Accommodation
- After immigration, baggage collection and customs, leave on 1F and find stop 5 for the domestic-terminal connecting bus. This is different from the paid bus stop for Hakata and Tenjin.
- Get off the free bus at the ‘Domestic Terminal Connecting Bus Stop’. Based on the airport guide map, the car journey takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
- According to the official airport information, the nearest subway entrance is 1A·1B. Go down the escalator/stairs, and use the south lift line for domestic flights for suitcases/strollers.
- Select your destination at the airport station ticket machine or go through the ticket gate with a supported transport IC card. Take the Airport Line towards the city/Meinohama and get off at the station that suits your accommodation: Hakata, Nakasu-Kawabata, or Tenjin.
The current international-terminal shuttle timetable runs 06:17~23:21. From 07:00 to 18:00, the interval is about 6 to 7 minutes, but the interval is different in the morning and night. Do not confuse with the domestic departure 06:00~23:19 table. Travel times in both directions are not the same.
If you are arriving on a domestic flight, go down to the subway station.
From the south side of domestic 1F arrivals, take the south lift or access-hall escalator down to B2, then follow the station gates. If you leave the North Arrival Hall, move toward the south side of the terminal. If your suitcase is large, use the lift and follow the station's lift signs on the platform.
Hakata, Nakasu-Kawabata, and Tenjin can be reached by one airport line, and an adult regular ticket costs 260 yen each. Choose between a vending machine ticket or a supported transport IC card. If you purchase a pass, check whether the airport line is included and the date of use, and do not assume that you can ride the bus with the same ticket.

Subway → Hakata Station → Exit toward the accommodation

Tenjin and Tenjin Minami are different stations
Tenjin Station · 天神駅 is a station on the Airport Line, and Tenjin-minami Station · 天神南駅 is a station on the Nanakuma Line. You cannot get off directly at Tenjin Minami from the airport line. If you are travelling late at night with your luggage, save the hotel entrance and late check-in contact information.
Nakasu-Kawabata Station → Kawabata Shopping Street Walking Map ↗Late arrival for international flights: Check the last shuttle bus
The last train to the city on the Airport Line in the Airport Station timetable on April 1, 2026 is next-day 00:35 after weekday/Saturday service days, 00:00 after Sunday/public-holiday service days. 00:15·00:35 on the Saturday/holiday timetable is marked as ‘Saturday only’, so it should not be assumed that it operates on Sundays as well.
The official station timetable for the day of travel takes precedence.
The last of the international shuttles is 23:21, so, even if there are still trains, it does not mean that you can go from the international terminal to the subway. Please consider the time when you have finished entering the country and picking up your luggage, waiting for the shuttle, travelling for 10 to 15 minutes, and entering the ticket gate and platform. The judgment of the last train for domestic and international arrivals is different.
Tenjin Airport Express lasts at 18:35, and HEARTS lasts international flights at 19:45. For Hakata Chikushiguchi, the airport departure time is from 08:00 to 21:00 on all weekdays, Saturdays, and public holidays on April 1, 2026.
Please double-check the travel day timetable in the PDF below. Due to flight delays, we cannot guarantee that the last bus or train will be available.
If you missed public transportation, go to the official taxi stand.
Please use the official taxi rank on the first floor of the arrival terminal. Show the Japanese address of your accommodation, the number of people and suitcases, and check card payment, loading space, tolls and late-night surcharges before boarding.
Please inform the property if late check-in is possible. For reserved vehicles, free waiting limits, extension costs, and no-show conditions vary depending on the company, so you must contact them based on the reservation confirmation.
Do not conclude that service will be suspended just because a typhoon or heavy rain is forecast. Subway operation notice, Nishitetsu Bus Notice, Airport flight status.
Taxi and rental car: To get to the front of the accommodation
Arrival hall → Official taxi stand on the 1st floor of each terminal → Present accommodation address → Accommodation entrance
The general taxi stands for domestic flights are numbers 3 and 10. For international flights, use the taxi stand on the first floor as indicated in the official guide map, and for reserved vehicles, follow the meeting point designated by the company. We do not offer fixed prices for Hakata and Tenjin as airport data does not have up-to-date confirmed rates for each destination.
Verify costs separately from meter or actual company quote.
Rental information is at the international 1F common information desk; domestic arrivals have rental counters. Confirm your company’s office transfer, collection deadline and flight-delay contact. A counter is not necessarily where you collect the car. Check your hotel’s car-park location, charges and hours too.
Purchase tickets on the route you will actually use.
The following is the operator's official purchase and operation guide and is not an affiliate link. Buses to the city, subway tickets, Kyushu Rail Pass, and private vehicles are different products, so check first whether they are included in the airport transfer.
Fukuoka Airport transport FAQ
Where do I catch the subway after an international arrival?
The airport station is connected to the domestic terminal. Take the free connecting bus at number 5 outside the arrival hall on the 1st floor of the international terminal. Get off at the domestic connecting bus stop and go to the subway entrance. It is not a route to take the subway directly from the international terminal.
How do I get to the domestic terminal?
Use the free terminal connecting bus from international-terminal stop 5. Based on the airport map, the shuttle ride takes about 10 to 15 minutes, and waiting is separate. International departure times are from 06:17 to 23:21, and the interval is about 6 to 7 minutes during the day, but the interval is different in the early morning and at night.
Which transportation method should I choose between Hakata and Tenjin hotels?
For hotels east of Hakata Station, compare international routes 6 and 7 to Chikushiguchi-bound buses, and for hotels west of the station, compare the subway or HEARTS drop-off points. Tenjin can be reached by subway from the domestic terminal or Airport Express No. 8 from the international terminal. Subway Tenjin Station, Nishitetsu Bus Terminal, and HEARTS City Hall are different arrival points.
Is there a bus that goes directly from the international terminal to the city?
Yes. Numbers 6 and 7 are bound for Nishitetsu Hakata Station Chikushi Exit, number 8 is Airport Express bound for Tenjin, and number 11 is HEARTS bound for Hakata/Tenjin. HEARTS gets off at HEARTS Bus Station, not Hakata Bus Terminal, and in front of City Hall in Tenjin.
How do I get to Nakasukawabata?
If you take the subway Airport Line from Airport Station, which is connected to the domestic terminal, and get off at Nakasu-Kawabata Station, there is no transfer. Adult one-way fare is 260 yen. Check whether your accommodation is across the river on the Nakasu side or on the Kawabata shopping street side and choose an exit.
Can I pay with a transport IC card?
Supported transport IC cards can be used for subway and Nishitetsu buses. The Hakata direct bus costs 380 yen when paid with a transport IC card or supported credit card, and the Tenjin Airport Express costs 480 yen when paid with a transport IC card. Airport Express does not accept credit cards onboard, so please separate the payment terms for both buses.
Can I use it with a large suitcase?
For the subway, use the domestic south lift and the station lift line. Airport Express allows you to put your luggage in the trunk yourself and ask a staff member if you need assistance. For other buses and taxis, you must check the number of bags and loading space, and the same free baggage limit does not apply to all vehicles.
What should I do if my flight is late and I miss the last train?
If you are arriving on an international flight, you must check both the last shuttle and the last subway train. We do not guarantee that buses or trains will wait for flight delays. After the last public transport departure, go to the official taxi stand on the first floor of the arrival terminal and show your accommodation address and number of bags. For reserved vehicles, please notify the company of your new arrival time in advance.
