OKJ → Okayama and Kurashiki
Okayama Airport to Okayama, Kurashiki and the Bikan district
For Okayama Station hotels, take the airport bus to the station’s west exit. For Kurashiki, check whether the direct bus fits your arrival; otherwise, change to JR at Okayama Station. Korakuen and Okayama Castle require a further bus or tram journey from the station’s east side. The Bikan Historical Quarter is a walk from Kurashiki Station’s south side.

From 1F arrivals to the bus stop
- Complete immigration, baggage collection and customs, then enter the 1F arrivals hall. Bus stops for both domestic and international arrivals are outside this floor.
- Prepare a compatible transport IC card and sufficient balance. Suica, ICOCA and other nationwide-compatible cards, plus Hareca, are accepted. Otherwise, choose your destination at the airport bus-stop ticket machine.
- Use stop 2 for Okayama Station (‘岡山駅方面’) or stop 3 for Kurashiki Station (‘倉敷駅方面’). They have separate queues.
- Check the destination and departure, load your suitcase, then board. On Okaden, tap a transport IC card when boarding and getting off; follow staff instructions.
Okaden's ticket machines accept cash, contactless Visa/Mastercard/JCB and some electronic/QR payments. These are ticket-machine payment methods. Onboard, cards other than transport IC cards and QR payments are not accepted.
Chutetsu accepts tickets, cash and transport IC cards; check the individual machine's payment signs. Normal boarding on both routes is without reservation, but a ticket does not guarantee a seat on a full bus. Okaden wheelchair-accessible seats require a separate telephone reservation.

Via Okayama, the Kurashiki journey costs JPY 1,000 bus + JPY 330 JR = JPY 1,330, with about 46–48 minutes on board. An editorial planning allowance of 60–90 minutes from the airport bus stop to Kurashiki Station includes changing and waiting; actual connections may take longer. Add arrivals procedures and travel from the station to your hotel.
Okayama Station hotels: arrive on the west side
Okayama Station · 岡山駅
- 1F arrivals → ticket machine or transport IC card → airport bus stop 2.
- Board for ‘岡山駅西口’. The ride is about 30 minutes. Services labelled ‘特急’ make an intermediate stop; stay on for Okayama Station.
- Get off at west-exit bus bay 21, labelled ‘西口 / 運動公園口’. Bus bay 21 is not Shinkansen platform 21.
- For west-side hotels, walk to your hotel's address. For east-side hotels, use the 2F east–west public passage (‘東西連絡通路’) to the east exit, ‘東口 / 後楽園口’. This does not require a train ticket or passing through ticket gates. Check the station map for lifts if carrying large bags.
Choose the hotel's actual entrance in directions rather than just “Okayama city centre”. For late arrivals, confirm its check-in deadline and the walk from the correct station exit.
From the station to Korakuen and Okayama Castle
Okayama Korakuen Garden · 岡山後楽園
Okayama Castle · 岡山城
The airport bus arrives west of the station; these attractions are east. Cross the public passage first, then choose the connection below.
Korakuen main gate: east-side bus bay 1
- At east-exit bus bay 1, choose the Okaden bus towards Fujiwara Danchi (‘藤原団地’). Check its current fare and payment instructions.
- Ride about 10–15 minutes to Korakuen-mae (‘後楽園前’), then follow signs to the main gate and ticket office.
- Uno Bus also runs a direct Korakuen service from bay 1, stopping at ‘岡山後楽園’. Its stop name and timetable differ from Okaden's.
To walk, follow Momotaro-dori → Tsurumibashi Bridge → the main gate. The facility's English access guide gives about 25 minutes from the station; allow more for bags and traffic lights.
East exit → Korakuen main-gate walk ↗Okayama Castle: tram, then walk from Shiroshita
- Walk from the east exit to Okayama-Ekimae tram stop · 岡山駅前. Choose a tram towards Higashiyama · 東山.
- Ride about 4–5 minutes to Shiroshita · 城下. Adults pay JPY 160. Put cash in the farebox when getting off, or tap a transport IC card when boarding and getting off. The farebox gives no change; prepare coins or use the onboard change machine.
- Follow castle signs for about ten minutes towards the Rokamon access point (‘廊下門’), then follow entrance and ticket-office signs. The map marks this approach, not the centre of the castle.
Korakuen is also about ten minutes on foot from Shiroshita. For its main gate, cross Tsurumibashi; between the castle and garden south gate, check the facility's Tsukimi Bridge access information. Confirm opening and entry hours for the gate you plan to use.

Kurashiki Station and the Bikan Historical Quarter
Kurashiki Station · 倉敷駅
Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter · 倉敷美観地区
When the direct bus fits: airport stop 3
- 1F arrivals → ticket machine, cash or transport IC card → stop 3, ‘倉敷駅方面’.
- Take Chutetsu's non-stop bus for ‘倉敷駅北口’. The expressway journey is about 35 minutes; the adult fare is JPY 1,400.
- Get off at north-exit bus bay 2. North-side hotels are on this side. For the Bikan area or south-side hotels, cross the station's north–south passage to the south exit.
The 1–24 October 2026 airport-departure table lists 09:15, 09:40, 11:45, 12:05, 13:45, 16:00, 18:55 and 19:20, with no weekday restriction shown. These connect with domestic arrivals; an extra Kurashiki bus for an Incheon arrival is not guaranteed. Flight changes can alter bus services, so check the current official timetable.
When the direct wait is long: change to JR at Okayama
- Airport stop 2 → Okayama Station west-exit bus bay 21.
- Go into the station, buy a JPY 330 local-train ticket or check your transport IC balance, then enter the conventional-line gates.
- Take a Sanyo Main Line local train towards Kurashiki/Fukuyama, usually from platforms 1–2, subject to the day's display. Fukuyama- or Itozaki-bound trains may be suitable; confirm they stop at Kurashiki. The Yakumo limited express requires an additional charge.
- After about 16–18 minutes, get off at Kurashiki Station and use the south exit. There is no JR station at the airport.
Shin-Kurashiki Station · 新倉敷駅 is a different station served by the Shinkansen. It is not the station for this walk to the Bikan area.
The final walk from the south exit
Walk south along Kurashiki Chuo-dori (‘倉敷中央通り’) to the ‘美観地区入口’ junction, then east towards the Kurashiki River. The lanes near Kurashiki Monogatari Museum · 倉敷物語館 provide another approach.
The official tourism map gives about 800 m, ten minutes on foot, from the south exit. Add crossing from the north-side bus arrival and the remaining distance to your hotel.

Storing luggage before sightseeing
Okaden airport buses have an underfloor hold for large suitcases; ask staff to load them and keep valuables with you. For Chutetsu's Kurashiki service, confirm size and quantity limits through its FAQ or 086-222-6601. Carry your own bags on JR local trains and trams, keeping doors and aisles clear.
JR lists coin lockers at Okayama and Kurashiki stations. Check space for your bag, availability and access hours on arrival. Kurashiki's tourism organisation lists JPY 500 per bag storage at the station-front tourist information office when lockers are unavailable. Ask about size, drop-off and collection hours before visiting; do not expect late-night collection.
If your hotel accepts bags before check-in, leaving them there first is another option.

Last buses, delayed flights and service changes
The last regular airport departures in the 1–24 October 2026 table are Okayama 21:25 → 21:55 and Kurashiki 19:20 → 19:55. These are not the reverse-direction departures from the stations. No weekday restriction is shown for these services; use the new table for journeys from 25 October.
Okaden says airport departures follow aircraft arrivals, so delayed flights may prevent operation at the printed times. The airport separately lists extra Okayama Station buses for international arrivals from Incheon, Shanghai, Taipei and Kaohsiung. They leave a set interval after arrival and are not included in the regular table. This does not establish any India-origin service.
Ask staff or the operator about the extra departure and waiting policy. The direct Kurashiki bus may also change with a flight delay; do not assume it always waits.
After the last direct Kurashiki bus
If a bus to Okayama and a JR train remain, change at the station. The JR search checked on 4 October 2026 showed the last Sanyo Main Line local train at Okayama 23:34 → Kurashiki 23:50. A scheduled 21:55 airport-bus arrival leaves scope for later trains, but congestion, delays or cancellations can break the connection. Search your actual travel date and allow time to reach the gates and platform.
Unused tickets, or no remaining public transport
Normal airport-bus boarding is not a reserved-seat booking. Keep an unused paper ticket and ask the issuer/operator about the next bus, changing destinations and refund charges. Automatic transfer to another route or a free refund is not guaranteed. A separately booked car follows its own cancellation, change and flight-delay contact rules.
Use the official taxi rank outside 1F and show your hotel address, or confirm your booked vehicle's meeting point and registration. Late-night availability is not guaranteed. Tell your hotel the expected check-in time, including the final journey from the station.

Official tickets and booking contacts
Buy an airport-bus ticket at the machine, or use cash/transport IC according to the operator's instructions. Buy the Kurashiki local-train ticket separately at Okayama Station. These are official operator links, not affiliate products.
The airport's pre-booked fixed-fare guidance, using ordinary roads and one vehicle, lists an ordinary car to the Okayama Station area at about JPY 7,100, and Kurashiki Station/Bikan area at JPY 9,800. Advance booking is required. The Kurashiki contact is Asahi Taxi, 086-242-0001.
Before booking, confirm the eligible address, night charges, waiting, any expressway tolls and the total. These are different from ordinary metered fares. For rental cars, confirm the airport/office pickup, delayed-collection cutoff, driving documents valid in Japan, insurance and return conditions. For city sightseeing alone, compare walking and public transport from the stations.
A rail pass may cover an eligible JR section under its terms; do not assume it includes the airport bus.
Okayama Airport transport FAQ
How do I get from Okayama Airport to Okayama Station?
Take the airport bus from stop 2 outside 1F arrivals to the station west exit. Adults pay JPY 1,000 one way; the ride is about 30 minutes. Add arrivals procedures and waiting. There is no railway station at the airport.
Which Okayama Station exit does the airport bus use?
It arrives at west-exit bus bay 21, not Shinkansen platform 21. For east-side hotels, Korakuen or Okayama Castle, cross the 2F public passage to the east exit without entering train ticket gates.
Do I need to reserve the airport bus?
Normal boarding to Okayama or Kurashiki is without reservation, subject to seats. Buy a ticket at the airport machine or use an accepted transport IC card. Okaden contactless bank-card payment applies at its ticket machines, not onboard. Wheelchair-accessible seats require a separate telephone reservation.
Is there a direct bus from Okayama Airport to Kurashiki?
The 1–24 October 2026 table lists buses from airport stop 3 to Kurashiki Station north-exit bay 2. Adults pay JPY 1,400 for about 35 minutes on board. The last airport departure is 19:20; flight delays or weather can change operation.
What if I miss the direct Kurashiki bus?
If a bus to Okayama and a JR train remain, change at Okayama to a Sanyo Main Line local train stopping at Kurashiki. Bus JPY 1,000 + JR JPY 330 = JPY 1,330; time on board totals about 46–48 minutes. The JR search checked on 4 October 2026 showed Okayama 23:34 → Kurashiki 23:50 as the last local train. Recheck your date and allow for changing; connection is not guaranteed.
Are Kurashiki and Shin-Kurashiki the same station?
No. Kurashiki Station is the stop for the south-exit walk to the Bikan Historical Quarter. Shin-Kurashiki is a different Shinkansen station, not the starting point for this walk.
How do I reach Korakuen and Okayama Castle from the station?
Cross to the east exit. For Korakuen, take Okaden towards Fujiwara Danchi from bus bay 1 and get off at Korakuen-mae near the main gate. For the castle, take a Higashiyama-bound tram from Okayama-Ekimae to Shiroshita, then walk about ten minutes. Adults pay JPY 160 on the tram; Korakuen is also about ten minutes on foot from Shiroshita.
Can I walk from Kurashiki Station to the Bikan area?
Yes. The official map gives about 800 m, ten minutes, from the south exit. Follow Chuo-dori south to the Bikan entrance junction, then east towards the river, or use the lanes near Kurashiki Monogatari Museum. Add crossing from the north-side bus arrival and the final hotel walk.
Can I bring a large suitcase?
Okaden airport buses have an underfloor hold; ask staff to load your bag. Confirm Chutetsu size and quantity limits with the operator. Carry your own bags on JR trains and trams. Station lockers depend on size and availability.
What if a delayed flight makes me miss the last bus?
The 1–24 October regular table ends with airport departures at 21:25 for Okayama and 19:20 for Kurashiki. Services may change with flight delays; an unlimited wait is not guaranteed. Ask staff what remains. Otherwise use the official taxi rank or contact your booked vehicle company, and tell your hotel your expected arrival.
