Saga Airport HSG → Saga city centre

Saga Airport to Saga Station, Saga Castle and onward trains

Take the bus to Saga Station Bus Centre for station-area hotels. The adult one-way fare is JPY 600; the international-flight direct service takes about 30 minutes on board and the domestic-flight semi-express about 35. For Saga Castle or the prefectural office, the semi-express has intermediate stops. The international direct service requires a change at the Bus Centre. For another city, walk to JR Saga Station for your onward train.

There is no railway station at Kyushu Saga International Airport · 九州佐賀国際空港 (HSG). Depart from the terminal by bus, taxi, or rental car.

From Saga Airport arrivals to your bus

  1. Enter the 1F arrivals lobby. International passengers finish immigration, baggage collection and customs before entering the international lobby; it is separate from domestic arrivals.
  2. Prepare cash or a topped-up transport IC card. Pay on leaving the bus; an advance airport ticket is not required. Direct credit-card payment on board has not been confirmed.
  3. Use stop 2 for the international-arrival direct bus, or stop 1 for the domestic-arrival semi-express. They are outside their respective arrivals lobbies. Check 直行 for direct or 準急 for semi-express: their intermediate stops differ.
  4. Choose 佐賀駅バスセンター, Saga Station Bus Centre. City-bound destination number 1 differs from airport-bound number 7. Destination numbers are not boarding-stop numbers.
  5. Board through the rear door. Take a numbered ticket for cash payment, or tap your IC card at the boarding reader.
  6. Press the stop button when your stop is announced. For Museum-mae or Prefectural Office-mae, make sure you are on the semi-express. Once the bus stops, pay the exact fare with your numbered ticket at the front, or tap your card at the exit reader.

JPY 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000 notes cannot be changed on board. The official sources do not confirm universal large-bag dimensions, quantities or luggage-hold space. Ask Saga City Bus at +81-952-23-3155 before travelling. Vehicle steps and accessibility vary; ask about your particular needs.

From the bus centre to JR and your hotel

Saga Station · 佐賀駅 and Saga Station Bus Centre · 佐賀駅バスセンター are adjacent, but not the same boarding facility. Airport buses reach the bus centre beneath the railway on the east side, not the south station square.

  1. After getting off, follow ‘佐賀駅 / JR’ west.
  2. Cross the road, pass Ekimachi 1-Chome Saga’s east building · えきマチ1丁目佐賀, and enter the station’s central passage. This reverses the operator’s approximately 100 m station-to-bus-centre directions.
  3. For a train, check the base ticket, any limited-express ticket and the departure platform. JR maps show platform lifts, but full step-free access from every bus arrival point is not established.
  4. For south-side hotels, use Saga Castle Exit (‘佐賀城口’); for north-side hotels, Sunrise Exit (‘サンライズ口’). Choose your actual hotel address for the final walk.

Bus-centre bay 1 is airport-bound boarding; it is not an established arrival bay for every airport bus.

Saga Castle: direct and semi-express buses differ

For Saga Castle History Museum · 佐賀城本丸歴史館, use the semi-express Museum-mae stop or change at the bus centre after the international-linked direct bus. Neither reaches the museum entrance.

Domestic-side stop 1 → Museum-mae → museum

Take the station-bound semi-express to Museum-mae (‘博物館前’): about 16 minutes, JPY 550. Walk east towards the castle Honmaru and museum entrance. Use the walking directions for crossings rather than crossing the road directly.

Museum-mae → history-museum walk ↗

International direct bus → bus centre → castle ruins

Take airport stop 2’s direct bus, then at the bus centre use bay 3, destination number 6 ‘佐賀城跡’. Get off at Saga Castle Ruins and walk to the museum. This follows the museum’s official access guide. Add the city fare, wait and walk to the JPY 600 airport fare.

Not all bay 3 buses go to the castle ruins. Destination 25 towards Wasaki instead uses the Museum-mae approach described in the official guide.

Prefectural-office hotels: choose the right stop

For Saga Prefectural Government · 佐賀県庁, the semi-express reaches Prefectural Office-mae · 佐賀県庁前 in about 20 minutes at JPY 570. Official access gives a further one-minute walk towards the building to the south. Several directional stops have the same name; check crossings and the official map.

The international direct bus does not stop here. At the bus centre, compare services for Prefectural Office-mae from bay 2, or Saga Shrine/Prefectural Office-mae from bay 3. Confirm the selected route. Office-area hotels have their own addresses and final walks.

Last airport departures and delayed flights

The last scheduled semi-express bus leaves the airport at 21:45 daily and reaches Saga Station Bus Centre at 22:20. This applies in both checked timetables: 1–24 October 2026 and 25 October 2026–27 March 2027. The 20:55 city-to-airport bus runs in the opposite direction.

  • For 1–24 October, direct buses linked to Seoul arrivals leave the airport at 10:25 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Taipei-linked buses leave at 11:20 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. These are bus departures, not flight times. The last domestic-linked semi-express is not the last international-linked direct bus.
  • In the winter table, Seoul-linked buses leave at 10:35 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with daily operation from 7 January to 27 February 2027. Taipei-linked buses leave at 11:50 on Tuesdays, 12:00 on Thursdays and 11:10 on Sundays. Choose the correct date and weekday.
  • The 18:00 semi-express is a weekday trial service without a linked flight. It does not run on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays; the winter table also excludes 29 December–3 January.

The operator says flight-linked buses adjust their departure when the linked aircraft is delayed. Domestic-linked departures are about 15–20 minutes after arrival; international-linked departures may be later because of arrival formalities. This does not mean an indefinite wait for individual shopping or currency exchange. Check the stop as soon as you leave arrivals. It also does not guarantee a seat, an extra bus, or a missed onward connection.

After service ends, use the official 1F taxi rank or contact your booked operator with your flight and changed arrival time. Check the hotel's check-in deadline and final walking distance; a taxi directly to the hotel may suit a late arrival better. Do not assume overnight terminal access or an airport hotel.

City taxis and shared limousine taxis are different

Use ‘タクシーのりば’ outside 1F for a normal taxi. The airport gives a Saga Station estimate of about 30 minutes/JPY 4,000 per vehicle, not a fixed quote. Its reference does not state whether night charges, waiting or tolls are included. Give the actual hotel address/time and confirm total charges, payment and bag capacity.

For booked cars, provide the HSG flight, destination and contact number, and get the quote, meeting point, cancellation and delay-wait terms confirmed. No verified city-only fixed-price product or fee is invented here.

The airport’s booked shared limousine taxis serve specified areas outside central Saga. Saga City, Saga Station and Hakata are not on the official region list. See the separate Takeo/Ureshino conditions below.

Taxi reference guidance ↗ · Rank map ↗

Rental collection is east of the main terminal

Go to the rental-car terminal (‘レンタカーターミナル’) east of arrivals and find your company. The airport lists Toyota, Nippon, Orix, Nissan, Avis/Budget and Times. Branch pickup, hours and delay policy differ.

  1. Book for the actual HSG flight, collection time, bag count and vehicle size.
  2. Before booking, confirm Japan-valid driving documents. At collection, prepare required passport/documents/payment, review insurance and inspect the car.
  3. Navigate to the hotel car-park or museum parking entrance, following current roads/signs, rather than just “Saga city”.
  4. Confirm parking price/height, return point and fuel rules. Rental quotes are separate from bus fares.

The roughly 30-minute station drive uses the airport’s taxi reference, excluding rental paperwork, inspection and parking. Campaign discounts are not universal standard prices.

Fukuoka, Takeo and Ureshino are separate destinations

Fukuoka/Hakata: airport bus → bus centre → JR Saga → Hakata Station · 博多駅. JR and any limited-express tickets cost extra; check actual departures and the last train with JR Kyushu. A current direct airport–Hakata bus has not been confirmed here.

Takeo/Ureshino: the booked limousine taxi serves specified stops including Takeo-Onsen Station · 武雄温泉駅 south exit, the Takeo onsen area, Ureshino-Onsen Station · 嬉野温泉駅 and its onsen area. Regular shared service to either area is JPY 4,000 per person, about 60 minutes. The early-morning shared service linked to ANA452 costs JPY 4,800. This differs from the city taxi’s JPY 4,000 per vehicle estimate.

Shared limousine taxis are for air passengers only, normally cash payment, with up to one large suitcase per person. Online booking closes at 16:00 two days before; telephone at 16:00 the previous day, except ANA451/452 telephone bookings also require two days.

Register the actual flight. After arrival, the car leaves once booked passengers assemble. Contact the assigned company about delays, flight cancellations and booking changes/cancellation. Natural disasters or alternative flights may not be accommodated; no unverified cancellation amount is quoted.

Typhoons, heavy rain and service changes

Check flights and ground transport separately: Saga City Bus notices, airport notices and JR Kyushu status. A missing bus-location display does not establish cancellation; ask the bus operator at +81-952-23-3155 if unclear. Confirm late hotel check-in and the final walk.

Saga Airport transport FAQ

How do I get from Saga Airport to Saga Station?

Take the Saga Station Bus Centre bus from outside 1F arrivals: international-linked direct from stop 2, about 30 minutes, or domestic-linked semi-express from stop 1, about 35. Both cost JPY 600 adult one-way. From the bus centre, walk west across the crossing and past the station east building to JR. Add arrivals, waiting and walking.

Where is Saga Station Bus Centre?

How do I reach Saga Castle History Museum?

The station-bound semi-express from domestic-side stop 1 reaches Museum-mae in about 16 minutes at JPY 550, then walk. The international direct bus from stop 2 has no intermediate stops: change at the bus centre to bay 3, destination number 6 for Saga Castle Ruins, or take a taxi.

Will a delayed flight make me miss the last bus?

The last semi-express is airport 21:45 daily in both 1–24 October 2026 and 25 October 2026–27 March 2027 tables. Flight-linked departures adjust for delayed linked arrivals, but unlimited individual waiting is not guaranteed. How do I travel onwards to Fukuoka?

Where do I check today’s bus status?
