Yonago Airport to Yonago, Matsue, Sakaiminato and Kaike Onsen
For Yonago Station, compare JR; for Matsue Station, take a direct bus. For Sakaiminato, take the JR train in the opposite direction to Yonago. For Kaike Onsen, check the operating day of the Seoul-flight-linked bus against your arrival date. This is an existing flight-linked service, not a direct-flight offer from India.

Yonago Kitaro Airport · 米子鬼太郎空港 (YGJ). Source facts checked . Times are Japan time; fares are adult one-way JPY. Arrivals procedures and baggage waiting are separate.
From international arrivals to trains and buses
- Immigration, bags and customs → 1F arrivals lobby
Domestic and international arrivals use different areas of the same terminal. Landing time is not the time you are ready to leave the lobby.
- JR: outside to the right → pedestrian bridge → airport station
Yonago-airport Station · 米子空港駅 is not beneath the terminal. Follow JR signs outside to the right and cross the road using the bridge in the official airport route diagram. The airport FAQ gives about five minutes walking. An older diagram's 250 m is not a verified total distance from today's international lobby to the platform.
JR lists step-free access from the station entrance to its platform, with no station lift or escalator. This does not establish shelter or lift access along the entire terminal-to-station bridge route. With large bags, a wheelchair or snow, check JR facilities and ask airport staff about the actual route.
- Check direction and payment before boarding
The Sakai Line runs towards Yonago or Sakaiminato. Local trains do not require reserved seats, but seating is not guaranteed. The airport station has no staffed Midori ticket office, Midori machine or e5489 collection service. ICOCA is processed through onboard equipment, rather than ordinary station ticket gates. For cash or paper tickets, follow station signs and crew instructions.
Buses use different boarding areas
- Matsue direct: stop 4 outside the domestic arrivals door. From international arrivals, walk through the 1F lobby towards domestic arrivals.
- Seoul-arrival bus via Kaike to Yonago: stop 7 beside international arrivals. It has different intermediate stops from the domestic-linked Yonago bus.
- Domestic-linked Yonago bus: the airport-bus area outside domestic arrivals. Confirm ‘米子駅’ and the stop number on the signs.
- Minatoru for Sakaiminato: stop 2, for a shared bus booked in advance.
The 1F airport map distinguishes international stops 7–8, domestic-side stops 1–4 and taxi rank 5. Some buses require a lobby-machine ticket first. Follow the operator's instruction to keep power banks with you rather than in hold luggage. The Seoul-linked bus lists cash as its basic payment method. Matsue has separate onboard cash/contactless supported bank-card and official digital-ticket options.
Compare transport for your hotel area
These are times on board. Add the five-minute station walk, ticketing, waiting, changing and the final hotel walk. The Matsue JR journey totals about 60 minutes on two trains; the tourism association suggests about 90 minutes including the change. Neither includes immigration or guarantees a short wait for the next train.
| Transport | Destination/drop-off | Adult one-way fare (JPY) | Time on board | Changes | Booking | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| JR Sakai Line local | Yonago Station | 240 | About 30 minutes | None | No reservation; unreserved seats | Carry your own bags; seat not guaranteed | Station hotels and lower cost |

| Seoul-linked bus | Kaike → Yonago Station | Kaike 500 / Yonago 640 | Kaike 25 / Yonago 45 minutes | None | No guaranteed seat | Ask about large bags/equipment | The operating day and Seoul arrival fit |

The JPY 770 Matsue fare is guidance for a through local-train journey from the airport station. It differs from buying a JPY 240 airport–Yonago ticket and a separate Yonago–Matsue ticket. Sanin Main Line limited expresses require an extra limited-express ticket. Yakumo is entirely reserved seating; a local-train fare alone is insufficient. Check your date, train and seat in the official JR search.
Bus times can increase with traffic, snow, wind or diversions. Station hotels and beachside onsen inns also have different final walks or taxi journeys.
Stops and connections on the terrain map
The GSI basemap shows airport, station and stop areas. Dotted lines indicate travel connections, not actual rail tracks or bus roads. Arrows point away from the airport. Airport stop 4 and Matsue bay 9 use operator coordinates; JR stations reuse the existing MLIT rail data. Other pins are approximate facility/boarding areas; follow signs and official plans for exact positions.

Yonago Station hotels: choose JR or the bus matching your arrival
Yonago Station · 米子駅 is separate from the airport, which is on the Sakaiminato side.
- JR: international lobby → walk to airport station → Yonago-bound local train → Yonago Station → hotel. About 30 minutes on board, JPY 240, plus the final walk.
- Domestic-linked bus: lobby ticket/payment → domestic-side Yonago stop → north-side station drop-off → hotel. The current table gives about 28 minutes and JPY 640 to the station, then another three minutes to ANA Crowne Plaza. It does not visit every hotel.
- Seoul-linked bus: international stop 7 → Kaike Onsen → north-side Yonago drop-off → hotel. About 45 minutes, JPY 640; the onsen detour makes it longer than the domestic-linked route.
The temporary relocation of station departure bay 7 concerns the airport-bound journey; do not assume it is your arrival point. Start with the north exit → tourist-office walk, then replace the destination with your hotel entrance.
Matsue Station hotels: direct bus or change at Yonago
Matsue Station · 松江駅 has a direct airport bus without intermediate boarding stops. It is not a guaranteed connection for every international arrival.
- Direct bus: international lobby → payment/ticket information on the domestic side → stop 4 outside domestic arrivals → Matsue Station bay 9 → hotel. About 45 minutes, JPY 1,200.
- JR: airport station → Yonago-bound Sakai Line → change at Yonago to a Sanin Main Line train towards Matsue/Izumoshi → Matsue → hotel. Through local-train fare guidance is JPY 770. Check the actual arrival and departure platforms at Yonago.
The 29 March–24 October 2026 bus table connects with ANA domestic arrivals 381, 383, 1087, 385, 387 and 389. Airport departures are 08:25, 10:35, 13:25, 16:45, 19:35 and 21:35. International passengers may need to wait for one of these or use JR. From 25 October, check the next period's table.
No seat reservations are accepted; a full bus may not admit more passengers. Departure follows confirmation that linked domestic baggage has been delivered and airport staff instructions; an early flight still waits until scheduled departure. Ask whether the bus can wait for your international processing. Onward connections are not guaranteed. Timetables and payment methods ↗
The lobby ticket machine supports listed transport IC/electronic payments, excluding PiTaPa. Onboard supported bank-card tapping is a different method from transport IC. A luggage hold is available, but confirm size, quantity and special equipment. Use the bay 9 → north-exit walk, then check your hotel's address.
From Matsue Station to the castle area
Matsue Castle · 松江城 needs another journey from the station. Take the Lakeline sightseeing loop from station bay 7 → ‘国宝松江城(大手前)’, then walk to the castle entrance. Adults pay JPY 250 per ride, separate from the JPY 1,200 airport bus. Airport arrival is bay 9, not Lakeline bay 7. Late arrivals may be after Lakeline hours; check the city-bus timetable and notices.
Use the stop → main-entrance walk with official castle directions. The grounds include gravel and stairs; the keep has no lift. Check paid tourist-office storage/lockers and hours instead of planning to take a large suitcase up the keep. Castle-area hotels need their own final walking or taxi route.
Sakaiminato and Mizuki Shigeru Road: take the opposite JR direction
For Sakaiminato Station · 境港駅, choose a Sakaiminato-bound Sakai Line train at the airport station, opposite to Yonago. About 15 minutes, JPY 190.
- International lobby → right-hand JR walking route → airport station.
- Check ‘境港’ → Sakai Line local train → Sakaiminato Station.
- Station forecourt → Mizuki Shigeru Road · 水木しげるロード entrance → your attraction or hotel.
The street runs about 800 m towards the Mizuki Shigeru Museum. Reaching the street entrance is not reaching the museum. Check the station–street–museum walk and official tourism map.
Minatoru: JPY 100 shared bus, booked in advance
International lobby → confirmed booking/payment → airport stop 2 → your booked Sakaiminato stop → hotel or street. Book through the app, LINE or telephone. Service hours are 07:00–20:00, with no operation on 31 December–3 January. Listed methods include cash, supported cards and transport IC; first confirm that you can register and book.
Pickup time, stops and journey time depend on your reservation. Operating until 20:00 does not guarantee an airport pickup at 20:00. Give passenger and bag counts, and contact the booking channel promptly about flight-delay changes or cancellation; do not assume unlimited waiting.
Kaike Onsen inns: check the arrival-linked bus carefully
Kaike Onsen · 皆生温泉 is a beachside area separate from Yonago Station. Choosing any bus labelled “Yonago” may leave a further journey.
- Seoul-linked direct bus: international 1F lobby → cash/payment → stop 7 → Kaike stop → inn. The table through 24 October 2026 links with Seoul arrivals on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday: airport 15:50 → Kaike 16:15 → Yonago Station 16:35. Kaike takes about 25 minutes, JPY 500. This is a Seoul-linked service, not an India-origin flight claim.
- Via Yonago Station: airport JR/bus → station → city bus stopping at Kaike Onsen Tourist Centre → inn. Add about 19 minutes and JPY 300 from the station. Other destinations in the same table, such as Shinkai, Aeon or the industrial gymnasium, are not interchangeable.
The Seoul-linked bus does not run if its flight is cancelled, and seats can fill. Departure may change with actual arrival, but unlimited waiting is not guaranteed. Show your hotel name to confirm the correct Kaike drop-off. The city bus's tourist-centre stop is not established as the identical bay used by the airport bus.
The tourist centre → beach walk illustrates the area; replace it with your inn's address. Only plan a hotel shuttle once the hotel confirms its booking, time and meeting point.
Last departures, late arrivals and winter connections
JR examples were checked for 4 October 2026 (Sunday/holiday table) and 5 October (weekday table); airport-bus times use 29 March–24 October. Recheck your date, revisions and cancellations. The airport lists terminal hours of 06:00–22:00.
- Airport station → Yonago: weekdays 22:52 → 23:22; Saturdays/holidays 22:08 → 22:37. A train departing after terminal closure does not mean the lobby stays open.
- Airport station → Sakaiminato: weekdays 23:15 → 23:29; Saturdays/holidays 22:30 → 22:45.
- Domestic-linked Yonago bus: last regular service 21:30 → 21:58, linked with ANA389; separate from the 15:50 Kaike route.
- Direct Matsue bus: stop 4 at 21:35 → station bay 9 at 22:20, linked with ANA389.
- Seoul-linked Kaike bus: stop 7 at 15:50 → 16:15 on its operating days, not an all-evening service.
- Yonago Station → Kaike tourist centre: current weekday and weekend/holiday tables end at 20:45 → 21:04. Late airport buses may arrive too late.
Arriving at Yonago does not guarantee a Matsue connection
For the checked 4/5 October dates, the last Yonago → Matsue local train is 22:40 → 23:09. The weekend airport train arrives Yonago at 22:37, leaving only three minutes; with bags and platform changes, this is not a dependable connection. The weekday airport last train arrives at 23:22, after the last local departure.
Yakumo 29 is listed at 23:30 → Matsue 23:52, but its Yonago–Izumoshi section is suspended on 13–15, 19–22 and 26–29 October; 4–5, 9–12 and 16–19 November. Check operating date, reserved seat and extra fare. Eight minutes from the weekday airport train is still not a guaranteed connection. Yakumo operating-date notes ↗
After the last service
Ask at official taxi rank 5 outside the terminal about your address, passengers, bags and total fare, including night charges and road conditions. No unverified fixed price or guaranteed availability is quoted. Use the airport-listed operators.
For booked pickups, confirm the reservation, meeting point, delay-wait limit, no-show and cancellation rules. If same-day travel is impractical, ask airport staff and hotels about nearby accommodation and a confirmed way to reach it. Do not assume overnight terminal stays are allowed. Rental cars use official 1F counters/listed companies; check closing and collection cutoffs, Japan-valid driving documents, winter equipment and return point before booking.
Flight delays, snow and wind
- Airport notices and your airline for the actual flight.
- JR West Chugoku status for the Sakai and Sanin lines separately.
- Hinomaru, Matsue Ichibata and city-bus notices for each bus journey.
Snow alone does not establish a flight cancellation; a rail suspension does not guarantee a replacement bus or seat. Allow more for wet, icy or windy final walks, and confirm the hotel entrance and late check-in. If travelling alone late, confirm the vehicle at an official information point or rank.
Local trains have no specific reserved seat to change. For pre-bought limited-express seats, check e5489 or the issuer's change/refund rules before departure. Terms depend on product, use and collection status; missing an unused seat does not automatically give another reserved seat. Contact Minatoru, pickup or rental bookings as soon as you know of a delay, and check prepaid-bus ticket validity/refunds separately.
Official tickets, payment and reservations
Choose the destination and date first. Minatoru and rental cars require an availability check and booking. These are official links, not affiliate offers.
Local tickets, reserved limited-express tickets and regional rail passes are different products. Check Sakai Line coverage and limited-express/seat rules for your specific pass; do not assume it covers airport buses.
Yonago Airport transport FAQ
How do I get from Yonago Airport to Yonago Station?
From the airport station, take a Yonago-bound Sakai Line local train, about 30 minutes and JPY 240. The domestic-linked bus costs JPY 640 for about 28 minutes; the Seoul-linked bus goes via Kaike, about 45 minutes and JPY 640. Check the route and boarding area.
How do I walk to Yonago-airport Station?
After international arrivals procedures, follow JR signs outside 1F to the right, then the official pedestrian-bridge route. The airport gives about five minutes walking; add lobby travel, bags and weather. JR lists step-free station-entrance-to-platform access, not guaranteed lifts or shelter along the full route from the terminal.
Is the train or bus better for Yonago Station hotels?
A bus matching your arrival can reduce walking with large bags. JR costs JPY 240 but needs a station walk and train wait, without a guaranteed seat. The Seoul-linked bus takes about 45 minutes via Kaike, so buses are not always faster.
Is there a direct bus to Matsue Station?
Yes, from stop 4 outside domestic arrivals to Matsue Station bay 9, about 45 minutes and JPY 1,200. The table through 24 October 2026 links with six ANA domestic arrivals. International passengers may wait for one or change via Yonago by JR. No seat reservation is accepted; full buses may not admit more passengers.
How do I change from Yonago to Matsue by JR?
Leave the Sakai Line and find a Sanin Main Line local train towards Matsue/Izumoshi, checking its stops and actual platform. Yonago–Matsue takes about 30 minutes with a separate local fare of JPY 510. Through local fare guidance from the airport station is JPY 770. Yakumo needs a limited-express ticket and reserved seat.
Which train direction is Sakaiminato?
Choose Sakaiminato-bound at the airport station, opposite to Yonago: about 15 minutes, JPY 190. The JPY 100 Minatoru shared bus from airport stop 2 is an advance-booked service, not a fixed airport bus you can board just by waiting.
Where should I get off for Mizuki Shigeru Road?
At Sakaiminato Station. The street begins outside and runs about 800 m towards the museum. Add walking to your actual attraction; the street entrance and museum are different points. Yonago is the opposite train direction.
How do I get to Kaike Onsen?
The Seoul-linked bus operates Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday in the table through 24 October 2026, departing stop 7 at 15:50. Kaike is about 25 minutes, JPY 500. It does not run if its linked flight is cancelled. At other times, compare travel via Yonago Station plus a JPY 300 city bus to the tourist centre, then your hotel walk or taxi.
Can I bring a large suitcase?
A direct bus with a stop near your hotel may reduce walking and changes. Matsue buses list a luggage hold; ask about size, quantity, wheelchairs and special equipment. JR local seats are unreserved and can be crowded. Keep bags away from doors/aisles; city buses have different capacity.
What if I arrive late or miss the last service?
Use the time you finish arrivals, not landing time. Checked airport-station last trains to Yonago are 22:52 weekdays and 22:08 Saturdays/holidays; to Sakaiminato, 23:15 and 22:30 respectively. Recheck the date and terminal closure at 22:00. After transport ends, ask at official taxi rank 5, contact a confirmed pickup or arrange nearby accommodation.
Where do I check today’s flight, train and bus status?
Use the airport and airline, JR West Chugoku status, and Hinomaru/Matsue Ichibata notices separately. Snow or wind stopping one service does not establish cancellation of all transport or a guaranteed replacement. Contact booked pickup operators about waiting, changes and cancellation.
