Go up the tower to see Goryokaku’s star shape in full. From the observation deck, you can look over the fort’s layout, which is harder to see from ground level.
After the view, you can walk in the park for a closer look. The park walk and paid tower visit are separate choices.

Observation deck admission is JPY 1,200 for adults, JPY 900 for junior and senior high school pupils, and JPY 600 for primary school pupils. Preschool children are listed as free.
Opening hours and closed days
Regular hours are 09:00–18:00, with ticket sales until 17:50. The tower opens throughout the year; check official notices for special hours.

Look over the star-shaped fort
See Goryokaku’s star-shaped layout from the observation deck. If you are also walking in the park, explore the fort up close after seeing it from above.
How to get to Goryokaku Tower
Take a Yunokawa-bound tram from Hakodate Station to Goryokaku-koen-mae, then walk about 10 minutes to the tower. Buy deck admission at the 1st-floor ticket counter. This is not the route to JR Goryokaku Station.

Exterior works are scheduled until 15 November 2026
The notice states that the tower remains open during exterior works. Check operating notices for your date before visiting the observation deck.
