Tokyo Metropolitan District Pass

The Tokunai Pass · 都区内パス is a one-day ticket for non-reserved seats in ordinary cars of specified JR local and rapid trains within Tokyo’s 23 wards. Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway are not included.

When is the Tokunai Pass useful?

Compare it with individual fares if you plan to make several journeys between JR stations in central Tokyo. If you also need the subway, include those separate fares when comparing it with the Tokyo 1-Day Ticket.

Official prices and child fares

These are the operator’s prices in Japanese yen, separate from reseller prices. Adults are aged 12 or above; child fares apply to ages 6–11.

Which date is the ticket valid for?

The ticket is valid for one day. Choose your travel date and check the date printed on the ticket.

Which routes are covered?

The ticket covers non-reserved seats in ordinary cars of specified JR local and rapid trains within Tokyo’s 23 wards. Check your destination station on the official coverage map. Subway and private railway journeys outside JR coverage require separate fares.

Where can I buy it?

Buy the pass at a JR East reserved-seat ticket machine within the valid area. Select the Tokunai Pass rather than the nationwide JAPAN RAIL PASS or the JR TOKYO Wide Pass.

From purchase to boarding

  1. Check that the stations you will use are on the specified JR routes within Tokyo’s 23 wards.

  2. At a JR East reserved-seat ticket machine within the valid area, select the Tokunai Pass and your travel date.

  3. Choose an adult ticket for ages 12 or above or a child ticket for ages 6–11, then check the printed date.

  4. Allow for separate fares when changing to a subway or private railway. A JR ticket does not grant access through a subway ticket gate.

Can I use the Tokunai Pass on the subway?

Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway are not included. This pass is for travel on the specified JR routes.

Are JR rapid trains included?

Non-reserved seats in ordinary cars of local and rapid trains within the valid area are included.

How much does the one-day pass cost?

The official price is JPY 870 for adults and JPY 430 for children aged 6–11. Compare this with the ordinary fares for your planned journeys.
