Naha Airport to central Naha: Yui Rail, buses and taxis
For western Kokusai-dori, take Yui Rail to Kencho-mae; for the eastern end, use Makishi. Asahibashi connects to Naha Bus Terminal, while Omoromachi serves Shintoshin hotels. For Chatan, Onna or Nago resorts, check a direct airport bus against your hotel’s actual stop instead.
Naha Airport · 那覇空港 (OKA) is on Okinawa Island · 沖縄本島. It is not Ishigaki Airport (ISG) or Shimojishima Airport (SHI).
Official sources checked: · Times are JST · Fares are in Japanese yen for one adult, one way unless noted. Travel-date timetables and service notices take priority.
Choose a station for your hotel area
These are train-ride times from Naha Airport Station. Allow separately for immigration, bags, customs, walking to the station, ticket purchase, the platform and train wait, and the walk to your hotel. A bus transfer adds its own wait and fare.
Official Yui Rail fares and standard travel times ↗Yui Rail: use the domestic area’s second-floor walkway
Naha Airport Station · 那覇空港駅 is outside the terminal. Reach it through the second-floor connecting passage in the domestic area.
International arrival
- Finish immigration, baggage claim and customs, then enter the first-floor international arrivals lobby.
- Take an elevator or escalator to the second floor and walk toward the domestic area.
- Follow “Monorail / モノレール” signs across the domestic second-floor passage to the station gates.
- Buy or validate your ticket, pass the gates and go upstairs to the city-bound platform.
Domestic arrival
- Collect your bags and leave the first-floor domestic arrivals lobby.
- Go up to the second floor and follow monorail-connection signs.
- Cross the walkway to the station gates, then go upstairs to the platform.
For large bags, follow the elevator route. Your flight’s arrival time is not the time you can board a train.
Walking time varies by arrival area, bags and elevator waits; the airport does not provide one fixed arrival-hall-to-platform time for everyone.
Airport and Naha arrival points
Use the map controls to focus on airport boarding or central Naha. The two ends of Kokusai-dori, stations and bus terminal are marked separately.
Blue dotted lines show the Yui Rail connection, orange the TK01–TK02 bus connection and green the onward walk. These are concepts on a GSI map, not actual track, road or indoor-walkway geometry. Pins mark approximate locations, not precise gates. Use floor maps, walking links and on-site signs for the actual route.
Western Kokusai-dori: Kencho-mae
Kencho-mae Station · 県庁前駅
Arrivals lobby → domestic second-floor walkway → Naha Airport Station → Kencho-mae Station → the western entrance at Kencho Kitaguchi · 県庁北口
Direct train: 290 yen · about 13 minutes. The onward walk is separate.
Kencho-mae is convenient for hotels near the prefectural office and Palette Kumoji · パレットくもじ. The tourist board gives about two minutes on foot to Kokusai-dori’s western entrance, not to every hotel. For an address farther east, compare Makishi or Miebashi rather than walking the full street with bags.
Eastern Kokusai-dori: Makishi
Makishi Station · 牧志駅
Arrivals lobby → domestic second-floor walkway → Naha Airport Station → Makishi Station → Saion Square · さいおんスクエア and eastern Kokusai-dori
Direct train: 320 yen · about 16 minutes. The onward walk is separate.
For a hotel near Saion Square or Makishi, walk from Makishi Station toward Kokusai-dori. For a central address, compare the walks from Makishi and Miebashi Station · 美栄橋駅. Miebashi costs 320 yen from the airport and takes about 14 minutes by train; the tourist board’s seven-minute walk to the street is not a hotel-specific estimate. For addresses farther east, also compare Asato Station · 安里駅.
Naha Bus Terminal: Asahibashi
Asahibashi Station · 旭橋駅
Arrivals lobby → domestic second-floor walkway → Naha Airport Station → Asahibashi Station → Naha Bus Terminal · 那覇バスターミナル
Direct train: 290 yen · about 11 minutes. The onward walk is separate.
Leave the station gates and follow the pedestrian deck toward Kafuna Asahibashi Building A. Go down from the second-floor deck by elevator or stairs to the first-floor bus terminal. Check your bus’s route, destination and boarding-stop number. Commercial floors above are not the boarding area. The bus fare is separate, and a bus does not wait for your monorail connection.
Shintoshin hotels: Omoromachi
Omoromachi Station · おもろまち駅
Arrivals lobby → domestic second-floor walkway → Naha Airport Station → Omoromachi Station → the Shintoshin hotel and shopping area
Direct train: 320 yen · about 19 minutes. The onward walk is separate.
Omoromachi serves T Galleria Okinawa · T ギャラリア沖縄. Hotel walking routes on the station’s west side vary by address. San-A Naha Main Place · サンエー那覇メインプレイス requires an onward walk rather than a drop-off at its entrance. For a distant hotel or heavy bags, compare a taxi to the hotel door.
Yui Rail tickets, IC cards and bus transfers
Buy a regular QR ticket at a station machine or use a supported transportation IC card, including OKICA, Suica, PASMO or ICOCA. Supported contactless bank cards use their designated gate reader; use the same card or device to enter and exit.
A bus transfer costs extra. Suica working on Yui Rail does not mean every Okinawa bus accepts it. TK01 and TK02 do not accept transportation IC cards; use cash or supported contactless bank cards. Monorail tickets and bus passes have different coverage.
Official boarding and payment guide ↗City buses to western Kokusai-dori
TK01 Hare Express and TK02 Umikaji Liner
Arrivals → domestic first-floor stop 4 → northbound bus for 国際通り入口 → Kokusai-dori entrance stop → hotel
TK01 is the early express and TK02 the regular city service. The airport-to-Kokusai-dori entrance fare is 240 yen. Do not board the southbound stop 6 bus for Itoman or Senagajima.
The city stop is in front of Okinawa Bank’s head office near Kumoji intersection, not beside every hotel near Makishi.
Airport-origin departures
The August 2026 timetable shows the combined TK01–TK02 first and last departures at 07:17–21:13 on weekdays and 07:48–21:21 on weekends and holidays. These are not city-to-airport times. The scheduled ride to the street entrance is about 11–15 minutes, excluding the walk to the stop, waiting and the hotel walk. Traffic or event detours can add time.
Board through the middle door, take a numbered ticket or tap your supported bank card, and pay at the front when exiting. Transportation IC cards are not accepted. Ask the driver about large-bag space; resort limousine compartment limits do not apply to this city bus.
On October 11, 2026, TK02 turns around at the airport and skips Kokusai-dori entrance. Compare Yui Rail or a taxi that day. Festival detour notice ↗
Other airport routes, including 26, 99 and 120, have different stops. Search by date and direction in official Okinawa Bus Navi ↗. Okinawa Bus announced airport stop-name and fare changes for October 19; check those notices for travel from that date.
Official taxis to your hotel door
First-floor arrivals → official taxi stand → show hotel address → hotel entrance
For central Naha, use the short/medium-distance stand, separate from the long-distance area for Chatan and farther north. Follow the airport map and staff directions. Have the full Japanese hotel address ready, especially where names are similar.
The checked operator’s August 24, 2026 revision lists 650 yen for the first 1.65 km, then 100 yen per 350 m, with a 20% surcharge from 22:00 to 05:00. Approved fares vary by operator and vehicle; slow-speed meter charges and tolls can add to the total.
ANA gives about 20 minutes by car to Kokusai-dori as a reference, not a guaranteed airport-to-hotel time. Queueing, traffic, detours and your hotel’s location can add time. Confirm suitcase capacity and payment before boarding.
Last departures from the airport
The October 4 Sunday and October 5 Monday Yui Rail schedules show regular airport departures from 06:00 to 23:30. A separate Friday 00:00 extra train ends at Makishi, not Omoromachi. Do not treat it as a daily last departure. For October 10–12 festival extras, select your actual date in the official calendar.
Landing before 23:00 does not guarantee the 23:30 train: allow for immigration, bags, customs, the station walk, ticket purchase and platform access. TK01–TK02 finish earlier, so a city bus is not automatically an alternative after the last train.
If public transport has ended, use the official taxi stand. Confirm your hotel’s late check-in, entrance and contact details. For a booked pickup, check flight tracking, included waiting time, delay fees and the meeting point. An airport-area hotel still needs a confirmed check-in deadline and transport; do not assume overnight stays in the terminal lobby are permitted.
Date-specific airport departure timetable ↗Chatan, Onna and Nago: choose a resort service separately
Chatan · 北谷, Onna Village · 恩納村 and Nago · 名護 are not Yui Rail destinations. Match your hotel to the real bus stop before comparing a direct airport bus with a reserved vehicle. These resort services are separate from the central Naha connections on the map.
Chatan: TK05 or Area A limousine
TK05 leaves airport stop 5 for Chatan Gateway · 北谷ゲートウェイ: 1,000 yen, about 60 minutes in the linked timetable.
The route page’s five-service PDF and the extra-service notice’s 10:30 departure do not agree. The first departure and daily frequency are therefore not confirmed here. Call the operator on 098-850-0011 for your date. The airport’s 2026 stop revision takes priority over old stop 1 references in the PDF.
TK05 is first come, first served, with no reservation and no boarding when full. It accepts cash, supported transportation IC cards and contactless bank cards. You cannot use only the airport-to-Kokusai-dori segment, and Tokyo Bus’s unlimited pass does not cover TK05. Ask the operator about large luggage. For a hotel stop rather than Chatan Gateway, check Area A’s exact hotel list.
TK05 conditions and current timetable ↗Onna and Nago: Okinawa Airport Shuttle
Board at airport stop 1. Through October 14, airport departures run 09:00–17:00 with nine services daily. October 15–January 31, 2027 has eight, with the 14:40 departure suspended.
Express buses skip intermediate Onna stops. For Onna-noeki Nakayukui Ichiba · おんなの駅なかゆくい市場, select a regular service that actually stops. The last 17:00 departure ends at Nago City Hall · 名護市役所前; not every bus reaches the aquarium.
Book online by 17:00 the previous day, or buy on the day if seats remain. Online payment is by card; onboard purchases use the operator’s supported cash, card or electronic methods. Compartment luggage is limited to two pieces per person, combined 30 kg and 0.25 m³, with a maximum length of 2 m.
Airport fares: Onna-noeki 1,600 yen; Nabee Beach Mae · ナビービーチ前 1,800 yen; Nago City Hall 2,000 yen. Check other stops in the fare table. Scheduled rides are about 1 hour 14 minutes to Onna-noeki by regular bus, and 1 hour 24 minutes express or 2 hours 26–27 minutes regular to Nago City Hall. Traffic can add time.
Dated timetables and fares ↗ · Hotel-to-stop connections ↗Hotel limousines: book the exact area and stop
Okinawa Bus limousines leave stop 1. Use the actual A, B, C, CD or D timetable; AB, E and DE are marked suspended in the checked notice. Area A serves Chatan/Ginowan hotels, C serves Onna, and CD/D serve northern Onna and Nago resorts.
The August 21, 2026 timetable shows Area A at 14:10 from the airport, once daily; its 06:50 and 08:50 services do not originate at the airport. C/CD together have four airport departures at 12:00, 13:50, 15:10 and 18:00, with different hotel coverage. D has 11:30 and 13:30. Read the hotel column against the airport departure row.
Chatan Gateway costs 1,000 yen. Area C’s The Moon Beach Museum Resort · ザ・ムーンビーチ ミュージアムリゾート is 1,700 yen, and ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort · ANAインターコンチネンタル万座ビーチリゾート is 1,800 yen. Other hotels have their own area fares.
A ticket is required before boarding; standing is not allowed when full. Airport ticket sales close ten minutes before departure, and advance reservations open one month ahead. Compartment luggage is limited to two pieces per person, 30 kg combined and 50 × 60 × 120 cm per piece. Airport-to-Naha Bus Terminal or Kencho Kitaguchi only is not an eligible ride.
A listed stop may not be inside your hotel. BEB5 Okinawa Seragaki · BEB5沖縄瀬良垣 uses the operator’s Otakushibaru · 太田後原 stop rather than a stop at the hotel entrance. Check the hotel’s final approach.
Flight delays, rental pickups and typhoon notices
Okinawa Bus limousines depart on time rather than waiting for delayed flights. Refund requests generally must reach the seller before the printed departure time; the operator lists a 100-yen fee per person, with possible additional seller terms. A later bus or change depends on seats and the ticket conditions. Do not apply Airport Shuttle’s later-service rule to a limousine ticket.
For a reserved vehicle, distinguish flight-arrival pickup from fixed-time pickup. Klook’s OKA pickup search and conditions (Korean) ↗ describes flight tracking for arrival-based pickups, but no refund after missing a fixed-time pickup because of a flight delay. Check the chosen vehicle’s waiting allowance, fees, change deadline, meeting point and passenger/bag capacity; a search page does not guarantee overnight availability.
OTS warns that a pickup more than one hour late without contact can be canceled, leaving no vehicle available. Call the booked office about changes; some early-booking plans require a new reservation instead. OTS delay and change FAQ ↗
Tell the seller and actual operator your booking number, flight number and revised arrival time. A rental “airport branch” may require a shuttle to an off-terminal office. Check both the shuttle deadline and final vehicle handover time. OTS’s checked notice stops new out-of-hours departure bookings; do not assume overnight collection is available.
For a typhoon, check the flight, airport terminal, Yui Rail and your bus separately. Weather alone does not establish that every service is suspended.
Official tickets and reservations
For a single trip into Naha, compare a regular Yui Rail ticket with TK01–TK02. An attraction pass is not an airport-transfer ticket. Buy Yui Rail tickets at the station; use the official links below for resort bus coverage and reservations. These are operator links, not affiliate offers.
Naha Airport transfer FAQs
How do I reach Yui Rail from international arrivals?
After immigration, baggage claim and customs, leave the first-floor international arrivals lobby. Go up to the second floor, walk toward the domestic area and follow Monorail signs across the connecting passage to Naha Airport Station. After the gates, go upstairs to the platform. Airport walking time is separate from the train ride and varies with the arrival area, bags and elevators.
Which station should I use for a hotel on Kokusai-dori?
Compare Kencho-mae for the western end near the prefectural office and Palette Kumoji, and Makishi for the eastern end near Saion Square. For a central address or the public-market area, compare the actual walks from Makishi and Miebashi. Kokusai-dori is long enough that choosing by the street name alone can leave a substantial walk with luggage.
How do I reach Naha Bus Terminal from Asahibashi?
Follow the pedestrian deck from the station gates to Kafuna Asahibashi Building A, then go down to the first-floor bus terminal. Check the bus route, destination and stop number. Any onward bus fare is separate from Yui Rail.
Does Yui Rail go to Chatan, Onna Village or Nago?
No. Yui Rail connects Naha Airport with stations in Naha and Urasoe, not those resort areas. Compare your hotel with the actual airport-bus stop or a booked vehicle’s destination. A resort bus passing through the city is not necessarily available for a short airport-to-city ride.
Which transport works best with large bags?
Yui Rail avoids road traffic but still leaves a walk from the station. For city buses, check the closest stop and onboard luggage space. Resort buses have separate compartment baggage limits. A taxi can reach the hotel entrance, but confirm passenger and suitcase capacity, payment, meter charges and any late-night surcharge first.
What if I arrive late at night?
The October 4 Sunday and October 5 Monday timetables show regular Yui Rail airport departures from 06:00 to 23:30. Weekend/holiday TK01–TK02 city buses run from 07:48 to 21:21 and finish earlier. Allow time after landing for immigration, bags and the walk to the station. If public transport has ended, use the official first-floor taxi stand or confirm a booked pickup. Check hotel late check-in and access before booking an overnight alternative.
What happens to my pickup or rental car if my flight is delayed?
Tell the seller and actual operator your booking number, flight number and revised arrival time. Waiting limits, extra charges, changes, office hours and airport-shuttle deadlines vary. Okinawa Airport Shuttle allows a later departure if seats remain and you tell the driver your booking name and situation, but that rule does not apply to every bus or pickup. A flight delay does not automatically guarantee a refund or extended opening hours.
