Admission
Admission costs JPY 500 for adults and college students and JPY 250 for elementary, junior, and senior high school students. Preschool children enter free. Groups of 20 or more pay JPY 400 for general admission and JPY 200 for children and school students. Individual visits are listed as free for elementary and junior high school students who live in Hakodate or attend a school in the city.
Opening hours
From April–October, the museum opens 8:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with admission until 5:00 p.m. From November–March, it opens 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with admission until 4:00 p.m. The facility lists December 31–January 3 as its regular closure period; any temporary holiday openings are announced annually. Check the facility website for temporary opening or closure notices on your date.

How to get to Hakodate Seikan Ferry Memorial Museum Mashu-maru
From JR Hakodate Station, walk northwest toward Hakodate Bay. Look to your left for a ship with an ivory upper section and blue hull, then follow the waterfront toward it. Climb the stairs in the building beside the ship to the second-floor boarding entrance. The published walk from the station is about four minutes; allow extra time from your hotel and for the stairs. There are no elevators or escalators.
