Visitor information
Admission
Keep admission is ¥1,200 for adults and free for elementary and junior high school students. Adult groups of 30 or more pay ¥960 each. The Honmaru is free to visit. Keep prices were revised July 1, 2026.
Opening hours
The keep is open 8:30 a.m.–6 p.m. April–September and 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. October–March; admission closes at 5:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively. Honmaru hours are 8 a.m.–6:30 p.m. April–September and 8 a.m.–5:30 p.m. October–March. Open year-round; events may change hours.

Walk around the Honmaru for views of the castle. This area has no admission fee, so you can visit without entering the keep.
How to get to Matsue Castle · 松江城
Take the Lakeline from JR Matsue Station to Kokuhō Matsue-jō (Ōtemae) · 国宝松江城（大手前）. Follow signs through the grounds to the keep. Return from the same stop on the circular Lakeline. If using an ordinary bus toward Kenchō-mae, check that route's fare and timetable separately.

Before climbing the stairs
You remove your shoes inside the keep and climb steep stairs. If stairs are difficult, enjoy a walk and castle views from the Honmaru.

Access around the north gate may be restricted. Follow castle notices on your visit date.
