Day 1: Clock Tower and Odori Park after arrival

Start with a look at Sapporo’s past inside the Clock Tower, then walk through Odori Park. Visit Otaru Canal on day 2. Save the TV Tower for the final day only if there is enough time before the airport journey.

    Follow JR signs down to New Chitose Airport Station on basement level 1. Travel between terminals and waiting for a train are extra to the train ride.

    Take an Airport train toward Sapporo and get off at Sapporo Station. Reserved seating adds a seat charge to the nonreserved fare.

    Take the Namboku Line toward Makomanai and get off one stop later at Odori. If starting from Odori accommodations, walk from the station area to the Clock Tower.

    Walk about 5 minutes from Odori Station’s City Hall-side exit and visit the Clock Tower’s interior first. If you miss regular last entry at 17:00, view the exterior and skip the interior.     For accommodations near Sapporo Station, take the Namboku Line toward Asabu from Odori.

Regular Clock Tower hours are 08:45–17:10, with last entry at 17:00. It closes January 1–3. Skip the interior if you arrive after last entry. The final day is for the TV Tower followed by the airport, so don’t add the Clock Tower then.

Ticket choice: if you can visit the Clock Tower’s interior on day 1 and the TV Tower on day 3, compare the JPY 1,300 adult combined ticket at the Clock Tower counter. Check date-specific opening arrangements and time for departure procedures first. Don’t buy it if you will skip either attraction. The cost notes below give sale and validity periods and the combined-ticket subtotal.

Day 2: Otaru Canal walk → return to Sapporo

Day 3: TV Tower → New Chitose Airport

View the city from the TV Tower, then travel to New Chitose Airport on the final day.

    Use exit 27, enter the nearby tower, and go to the 3rd-floor ticket counter. Show the combined ticket bought on day 1, or buy an adult individual ticket for JPY 1,200.

    View the city and park from the observation deck, return downstairs, and head back toward exit 27. Finish in time for your airport JR train.

    From Odori, take the Namboku Line one stop toward Asabu, get off at Sapporo, and go to the JR station. Collect bags stored in Odori before boarding the subway; collect bags stored near Sapporo Station after getting off there. Include the bag-pickup trip in your airport travel time.

Use this alternative subtotal only if you can visit both within that period. An individual ticket already bought on day 1 cannot later be counted at the combined-ticket price. If you skip a place or it is closed, recalculate using the tickets and journeys actually used.

Hakodate harbor and Goryokaku

Stay 2 nights near Hakodate Station and see the night view and Goryokaku on separate days. Choose this for time to have lunch near Goryokaku and walk in the park. Visit the warehouses on the final day only if airport travel allows.

    Take the ropeway to the summit station and view the city and sea from the observation area. The ride takes about 3 minutes. Finish in time for the last downhill ride and return tram.

Day 2: Goryokaku, lunch, and a park walk

    Take a Yunokawa-bound tram to Goryokaku-Koen-Mae. Walk about 10 minutes to the tower and buy your ticket at the 1st-floor counter.

    After enjoying the tower view, walk toward Goryokaku Park and have lunch nearby. Return after your walk to the Goryokaku-Koen-Mae tram stop used on arrival. If lunch and walking take longer, recheck your return tram time.

    From Goryokaku-Koen-Mae, take a tram toward Yachigashira or Hakodate Dock. This stop is different from JR Goryokaku Station. Get off at Hakodate Station and return to your accommodations.

Day 3: warehouses if time allows, then the airport

If there is time before your flight, visit the harbor warehouses and then head to Hakodate Airport.

  2. Jujigai tram stop → Yunokawa-bound tram → Hakodate Station

    Return to Jujigai and take a Yunokawa-bound tram to Hakodate Station. Collect stored bags at your accommodations first, then go to airport-bound bus stop 3 outside the station.

Warehouse shops open at 09:30. Skip the visit if the round trip will not fit before your airport bus. Omitting that day’s tram round trip reduces the subtotal by JPY 500.

The tram total adds JPY 500 for a departure-day Jujigai round trip to JPY 1,040 for the first two days. If the ropeway is suspended, switch to a harbor walk; the only attraction admission is JPY 1,200 for the tower. Keeping the listed transportation gives a subtotal of JPY 3,740 per adult. The listed subtotal uses rapid route 8. Switching to a shuttle after checking the actual service, stop, and applicable date adds JPY 200 per one-way ride replaced.

Does a Sapporo subway day pass cover Otaru or the airport?

No. The subway day pass and Donichika ticket cover only the Sapporo subway. These itineraries use JR trains for the airport and Otaru, with separate fares.

Do I change hotels on the Otaru day-trip day?
