Day 1: Odori Park and the TV Tower after arrival
Walk in Odori Park and enjoy the TV Tower view on arrival day. Split the canal walk and confectionery factory visit across the next two days, then visit the Clock Tower on the final morning.

For international arrivals, complete immigration and baggage collection, then use the 2nd-floor connecting walkway to the domestic terminal. For a domestic arrival, follow the terminal’s JR signs.
- Domestic terminal → New Chitose Airport Station, basement level 1
Follow JR signs down to New Chitose Airport Station on basement level 1. Travel between terminals and waiting for a train are extra to the train ride.
- New Chitose Airport Station → JR Sapporo Station
Take an Airport train toward Sapporo and get off at Sapporo Station. Reserved seating adds a seat charge to the nonreserved fare.
- JR Sapporo Station → Namboku Line toward Makomanai → Odori
Take the Namboku Line one stop toward Makomanai and get off at Odori. From Odori accommodations, walk straight toward the park.
- Eastern Odori Park → TV Tower 3rd-floor ticket counter and observation deck
Walk through the park’s east end, buy tickets at the TV Tower’s 3rd-floor counter, and visit the observation deck for city views before coming back down.
- Odori or Susukino → Dinner → Sapporo Station accommodations
Eat in Odori or Susukino, choosing the easier return to your accommodations. For a Sapporo Station base, take the Namboku Line toward Asabu. Visit the Clock Tower separately on the final morning.
For a late arrival, skip first-day sightseeing or adjust the order to actual opening dates.
Day 2: Otaru Canal walk and lunch → Sapporo
- Sapporo Station → JR Otaru Station → canal
Check that day’s return train before setting out. Take JR toward Otaru, get off at Otaru Station, and walk about 10 minutes to the canal.

Have lunch near the canal, return to Otaru Station, and take a Sapporo-bound JR train to Sapporo Station.

Day 3: Shiroi Koibito Park’s paid exhibits

From a Sapporo Station base, take the Namboku Line one stop toward Makomanai to Odori and transfer to the Tozai Line toward Miyanosawa. Get off at the last stop, walk about 7 minutes to the park, and buy admission to the paid area at the ticket center.

After your visit, retrace the roughly 7-minute walk to Miyanosawa Station.

Take the Tozai Line toward Shin-Sapporo and get off at Odori. Return to your accommodations here, or take the Namboku Line one more stop toward Asabu for a Sapporo Station base.
Day 4: Clock Tower → New Chitose Airport
Finish with the Sapporo Clock Tower exhibits, then travel to New Chitose Airport.

Take an Airport train to New Chitose Airport and get off at the last stop. Go up from basement level 1 to the domestic terminal. For an international departure, follow the 2nd-floor connecting walkway to international departures on the 3rd floor.

From a Sapporo Station base, walk about 10 minutes from JR Sapporo Station’s south exit to the garden’s main gate. From an Odori base, the walk from Odori Station exit 2 takes about 10 minutes.
- Botanical garden → Morning walk → lunch downtown
Walk through the garden in the morning. There is no restaurant inside, so leave through the main gate for lunch downtown.
- Downtown / Odori Park → TV Tower observation deck
In the afternoon, visit the TV Tower at the park’s east end. Buy a ticket on the 3rd floor, enjoy the observation-deck view, and return downstairs.
- Odori Station → Your accommodations
Return to your nearby Odori accommodations, or take the Namboku Line one stop toward Asabu for a Sapporo Station base.
Visit the outdoor botanical garden on an open day between April 29 and November 3. The outdoor garden closes in winter, and the glasshouse is currently closed to visitors.
Day 3: Shiroi Koibito Park’s paid exhibits
- Sapporo Station or Odori accommodations → Tozai Line to Miyanosawa → ticket center
From a Sapporo Station base, take the Namboku Line toward Makomanai to Odori and transfer to the Tozai Line toward Miyanosawa. From an Odori base, use the Tozai Line directly. Get off at the last stop and walk about 7 minutes to the park. Buy paid-area admission at the ticket center.

Do I need to change hotels for an Otaru day trip?
For the Otaru day-trip option, stay three nights at the same Sapporo hotel. Visit Otaru Canal by JR train on day two and Shiroi Koibito Park on day three. If you prefer to linger around the canal through dinner and stay overnight, compare the itinerary with one night in Otaru and three in Sapporo.

Do I need a JR pass for an Otaru day trip?
The four-day itinerary with an Otaru day trip has JPY 4,060 in nonreserved JR fares for round-trip airport and Otaru travel. Without extra JR journeys, compare that regular-ticket cost first. Check each regional pass's validity and coverage separately. JR passes do not replace Sapporo subway fares or admission tickets.
